I witnessed the magic of this group in 1977 in Philadelphia in a small club. I had a table right in front of the band. They were awesome! I heard them on the radio today and it took me back to the time when I saw them perform live. Real music...Positive energy..Real love eminated from them. It was powerful! And the horns...Need I say more...
That must've been a magical moment! This group's musical excellence played a big role in the maintenance and progression of my Christian faith. This song is one of their very best.
I saw your comment and wanted to fist bump you back. Its makes me happy to see the impact. That this song an group had on Philly. Great ERA in Music.I'm sitting in my lazy boy chair at my desktop computer in Walnut Creek CA. bumping this song(.North Philly In The House) @@bobwatson1162
Pauline Wilson is part Filipino. Members of the band come from Hawaii. Truly island jazz. I can honestly compare her voice with that of Patti Austin, Bonnie Bowden of Brazil '77, and the like.
Seawind will never be forgotten Mahalo Nui Loa, Kim Hutchcroft & Seawind. Thank you for the good memories. Only regret I have is not living in Hawaii while you guys were together. This was my introduction to "Smooth Jazz". Good Memories. I felt the love in your music.
God bless you dear precious Pauline Wilson! I wish you God's richest blessings, love, joy, great health, happiness, wealth and a close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, Father God and the Holy Ghost. You are one of my very favorite singers. God bless all the people who were in Seawind in Jesus' Name.
I've been in love with Seawind since first hearing "Follow Your Road" on the radio when I was six years old. Pauline's voice is phenomenal. I love how even her strong notes have a hint of sweetness to them. Then, of course, there's the Seawind Horns. Gorgeous! This song, especially, brings a smile to my face. It's one of my faves from them, actually. Cheers from a 25 year old Seawind fan.
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands of all time!! The musicians in this band were top-notch, and Pauline Wilson's vocals were amazing. Love Seawind!!!!
Hawaii's finest deliver the goods here on this 1976 debut album Seawind, with a batch of killer tracks on the CTI label, heavy Jazz overtones underneath the rhythms aligned with Pauline Wilsons awesome vocals to match. Pauline Wilson is the first-ever Grammy Award winning vocalist from Hawaii. And Seawind’s horns helped create the biggest selling album of all-time, Thriller.
Seawind. Remember them as the very first concert I had the pleasure of watching. If I'm not mistaken, 1979 Philippine International Convention Center, 1979 or 1980. Those were the years (60s, 70s, 80s) when music was music, not noise.
Seawinds music was adored by hardcore jazz fans of the wonderful jazz-funk music genre in the early 80s in U.K. It captured the imagination of many poor inner city kids, particularly those from black Afro-Caribbean backgrounds. Most North Americans never even knew this movement existed. They go ‘what? You young British guys danced to this lounge jazz?? That’s Baloney!’ 😂 We sure did, it was a part of our young cultural identity in what was still then a near openly racist British society, we loved our Reggae and Soul, but many of us had eclectic tastes and aspirations to better ourselves academically and socio-economically and what we saw as the sophisticated world of Jazz and the black musicians who excelled in this arena and the respect that they earned fitted our aspirations perfectly. It was a wonderful dreamy escape for youths who doubted if they were ever going to make something of themselves in a hostile racist society back then. Of course bands like Seawind, Weather Report and Return to Forever were multi-racial at best (Seawind were nearly all Caucasians) but we didn’t know that at the time, and even if we did what mattered is that they were playing our music 😉🙏🏽❤️
Listen to the laughter Of children in love. Brought together By the good Lord up above They're singing songs and melodies of love For you Just listen with all your heart and you can sing them too Take love by its hand today And you have that love Come what may Love won't pass you by It's here to stay.
Seawind's a big hit here in Manila back in the late 70's and 80's, just like Kalapana which also is from Hawaii. I didn't realize this song "He loves you" is a christian song, til I checked out the lyrics. Thanks for sharing.
First heard this band in Oahu,Hawaii, just passing by at a record store in 76...man, then heard this beautiful voice coming from the hallway...then decided to get the album. Wonderful and great memories...of nicer times in life. Thank you for the person for this...great video!!!
the whole song , even the instrumental part is a NOTION in itself. The message is simple, the way it was delivered and sung, having rhythmic back up lyrics sung in a "mantra" meter (OPEN UP YOUR HEART, HEAR WHAT HE'S GOT TO SAY, YOU CAN HAVE HIS LOVE, EACH AND EVERYDAY...HE will always love you!) - not withstanding the cool effectiveness of Jerry Hey's solo. It is all there. All you have to do is FEEL what needs to be FELT!
Horn and string arrangements by Jerry Hey and performed by The Seawind Horns, Ben Wright, Johnny Mandel. - also played on the now classic OFF THE WALL album by the late great Michael Jackson'. With that said, I loved Seawind - I was turned onto them in my early college years, then later I found out they contributed to Kin'g Michael's OTW. Great musicians and so so cool music.. love this group
OMG!!! Jerry Hey and them Seawind horns played on everything Quincy Jones produced including Michael's Thriller. Jerry Hey and his group has played some of the most famous horn arrangements ever put to vinyl. Sounds like the album George Duke produced.
There's another version of this beautiful song on the reunion album from 2009, including some Al Jarreau special "deedeedidnnnds" and "uidugidunns", Seawind = simply the greatest band on earth
There hasn't been, or ever will be a horn section with so many star studded players in it. Jerry Hey, Gary Grant, Chuck Findley, etc... These guys are on EVERY Quincy Jones produced record including: Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, The Brothers Johnson just to name a few. They are still the top call studio musicians in LA. Every record, movie score and jungles made have them playing on it.
es una de las mejores exporesiones de jazz de fusion que he escuchado en mi vida, gracias y mi afecto a quien compartio esta grata experiencia musical en esta frecuencia musical,
i first heard of them from my drum tutor who played with a scottish band called R.A.F. who were in the same studios as seawind, signed to the A&M label, great band love it!
I bought this great album about ten years ago. It contained several Seawind classics, and some never before released material. I'm said that they broke up, but I bought Pauline Wilson's solo album (INTUITION) which contained a remake of "Follow Your Road".
I saw these guys live 3 times in Orange County in the late 70s. They are one of the tightest bands of all times. They were not just as good as the records, they were better! I was in love with Pauline. Sorry Bob. That is the drummer and husband. She was so small, but what a voice and she is so beautiful; voice and everything else.
Remember seeing them at Crater Festivals and various clubs around town as Ox. Bob's ride cymbal on this stunned every drummer in the islands. Every member of this band was ridiculous. This wasn't smooth jazz, this was island jazz. You needed to hear Pauline sing Rufus or some of their own stronger stuff. Nothing watered down about it.
Oh, I remember this one!! Can someone tell me if Seawind played a song called "music sweet music" or "music is on my mind" or something to that effect from the mid 70's?!! I only heard it twice within the last 30 something years and I would love to hear it again. Please help me!!

Ahhh like nice cold glass ice tea in heat of summer....thanks for sharing
Seawind aka OX. KILLING IT way back when, at the Sugar Mill Lounge off Kalakaua Ave, Waikiki
I remember trumpet players trying to cop Jerry Hey's solo back in the day. What a beautiful message. Amen. You can feel the blessings
That's actually Freddie Hubbard's playing style, however they are both great.
i never heard Freddie play a flugelhorn. it must be Jerry Hey.
This is probably the finest horn solo I've ever heard.
I LOVE this tune by them 🙌 😊
I had this album when NOBODY knew who they were. Their first album was the best.
This was a staple song in the 70"s on WJZZ when I was a young buck. I remember cruising in Detroit many nights listening to this tune. Ah, yes!!!
God bless you dear precious Pauline Wilson!

The message and the joy in the music
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands of all time!! The musicians in this band were top-notch, and Pauline Wilson's vocals were amazing. Love Seawind!!!!
20年経っても色褪せないサウンドとメロディー。これからも色褪せることなく美しく感じると思える音楽。
This is one of my all time favorites. Seawind was like no other group. They still stand out in my eyes.
Mesmerizing, this band, sweet memories.... and what a fantastic, sweet voice, Pauline Wilson, love it!!

Pauline - Hawaii's own, Siquijor's child
Pauline Wilson, Our Pinay Pride who can hit those high notes with spot on precision and perfect pitch non-screeching tones. What a talent!!

Such an amazing piece of music . He loves you everyone
Amen!
MANY MANY HOURS OF LISTENING PLEASURE. SMOOTH CONTEMPORARY. JAZZ BY SEASONS.
This was the cut! Tony Brown used to rock this on "Brown Nights with Tony" on WDAS in Philly. It was always the bomb on warm summer nights!!!
I've been searching for this song for years! I remember listening to this on wdas fm philly with Tony Brown.

Love this group and you Greg Vail on your saxophone. Praise to God.
que super tema , esta composicion la traigo en mi cabeza desde hace 30 años. es preciosa, simplemente de lo mejor que he escuchado en mi vida
4 thumbs down , what the hell are Beiber fans doing on this site?
This sounds so good , 76 to present day, a classic track.
Some people are easily triggered, bloody millennials :-)
People who gave a thumbs down are lacking music sophistication and experienced musicianship. ♫ ♪
You sound just like Jesus. Good job.
What more can be said ? Take Love by His hand and you will have this love today !
Chorus line is gold. When the background singers kick in and the end with "open up your heart..." woooo! Takes it to a whole new level!
"The longer you wait, the harder it gets." What a powerful truth!
