I have had this once at a street fair in Leimert Park, Los Angeles. She made it into a taco with shredded cabbage and a special sauce. So YUMMY 😋 😋
Thank you for connecting our foods to it's origins. I prefer the skin and eyes on when making it! I'll have try your version..... looks good!
Cubans call this Boyetos, I love them. I grew up in NY with my Cuban grandma that came to NY and she would make this.
It's originally from Nigeria.
Oh my we Haitian have that too when I was little girl I used to like to eat it and we called it akra too
I'm surely going to try this my dear
I might try these a substitute for corn bread when I make chili.
Fab. 👍👌😋🌱Will try for sure.
I couldn't find the market where you recommend to get the Cuisine products, so I'm replacing cilantro for the beni leaf, and scallions to replace the chives. The regular market didn't have the soya bean oil, so I'm using avocado oil
I hate black eyed peas but your recipes have never let me down yet so I'll be trying it out
I hate them too but they taste totally different when you remove the eyes of it.
I'm not a fan either. But the recipe looks scrumptious.
I have to try this....never heard of it before
Will this have the same consistency if I keep the skin on
Gratitude!!! What store did you mention to get the Cuisine products? Ty
Massy Stores. Cuisine is their house brand.
This is the first time I heard of anyone shelling off the "eye" of the black eye pea. If that is the case, wht not use another type of pea?
yummy!
Looks good. Thanks , keep them coming.
Going to try tomorrow morning..
This looks lovely and tasty!
Looks like falafal, but not with chick peas. So. what's wrong with the black eyes?
Tip for removing skin (although Idk why you would): boil with tbs of baking soda. Scoop muck off boiling water and peas. Drain. Add water, massage peas, skins float to top, scoop with spoon.
Thank God, I knew there had to be a faster way!!!
We use yuca and shred it.
What are the seasons?
You can make it with black eye-peas flour also but it doesn't taste as good.
Nice. well done
Why can't you just leave the skins?
Oh hell no I’m not peeling every single pea individually by hand. I’d rather buy it from someone who has the time.
This dish has a lot to do with connecting with the Ancestors .... the peeling is a part of the spiritual journey. The action tends to center and ground you.
Well said!
No way will I remove the outer layer of my peas! That's where all the fiber comes from! Sorry, I'm too much of a health nut to do that.
🆒 🌈 🍹 🎈 🎀
Acara..is a nigerian dish..iam trinidian and i have nigerian friends.so please dont say its a trinidish.come on now be fair.🙄😁
She said at the beginning that all these are derivatives of the Nigerian food Acara...
history speaks for itself
She said that in the beginning. It’s from Africa.
