Okay wow, checking Poshmark for how a piece holds up is such a good tip and something I’ve not thought about before. I usually just search them when I’m wanting to purchase.

About the unif boots.. I have a rule that I learnt the hard way: Do not buy shoes from a clothing brand. Making pretty shoes is one thing but making comfortable shoes is the whole other level and I’m yet to learn about a clothing brand that makes comfy shoes. (I guess I’m not talking about sports brands)

I love that camo has become a trend, It's been a staple in my wardrobe for over 20 years. This just means in about 3-6 months I will be able to find new-to-me pieces at the thrift.

I think Alexa had some really great advice, but I'd like to add another tip to the person considering camo print pants. The girl in the inspiration photo looked amazing. And I completely understand wanting to emulate the outfit. But I think anyone wanting to copy an outfit should ask themselves do they actually like the separate items of the outfit or do they like the silhouette? A person could totally re-create that camo outfit in the same silhouette pants but in a color or print that they already know that they like.

Talk all you want Alexa. You don’t need to apologize for being you anymore. If people don’t like you and your channel for being authentically you they shouldn’t be here anyway. Love all of your videos, especially the super chatty ones 🧡💜❤️

It’s insane to me that people comment things like that. Like, no one is forcing you to watch Alexa’s videos??? You chose to be here and you can choose not to watch it if you think she talks too much?? Like what???? But yes, talk all you want, Alexa. The people who want to be here will continue to watch and the people who don’t can literally just leave???

The Coogi sweater a serious classic. Very popular in the 90’s when I was in my teens… I was 20 in 1999 - think Notorious BIG and Bill Cosby. FYI the pronunciation is Coo-Gee. The last syllable sounds like big G. Love the channel.

I love the Sambas because they have black, white, gray, and brown on them so you can match them with so many colors! Fortunately, I found mine in a bin that my sister was planning to donate… BRAND NEW! She got them years ago because she just thought they were a cool shoe and $20 at the outlets 😅

I know layering is not only for style but for practical reasons, but I love the one-and-done pieces the most on a daily basis. So I'm with you on the collar thing, still it's cool for days when you want to dress up nicely and take time to do that.

The thing about detachable collars are that they shift because there's nothing holding it down, I like the kind that has straps at the armpit, so your not wearing a full pice of clothing under and it doesn't shift.. it indeed is for someone who would want to put effort on that area of dressing 😅 it's easy to forget that you have it when it's tugged somewhere you don't look at

I could so relate to the Samba inquiry - I didn't really like them before they became trendy but the more I saw them the more I liked them, especially in the clean black and white design, it's actually quite elegant. But I also don't want to wear sth that is so ubiquitious everywhere... So I caved and ordered a pair in a colorway that looks a little bit different (grey/black), if they are super comfortable I might keep them after all.

Mine is a thrifted Free People top I pull out every couple of years and enjoy until the trends move on. And Adidas of any stripe have never fit my feet comfortably! The pain is real! I have owned a lot of stuff from reformation. It all wrinkles, a lot of the pieces you aren’t supposed to iron. The mason pants wrinkle unless you can hang them but they look slouchy. I have 2 linen dresses I love. Sweat suits I love bc the color. And going out tops can be hit or miss. That specific top because it’s tight might be fine but just be mindful the straps aren’t adjustable and it will pill when it’s washed.

listennnnnn if anyone is thinking that they want a pair of sambas, i highly recommend buying them. they're one of the most comfy shoes i own, especially as they break in (and i have high foot arches and theyre not flat at all, try the ones actually for indoor soccer for better arch support btw). but like you said alexa, there's a colorway for literally EVERYONE. the shoe itself is so sleek and streamlined that its super versatile and can go with literally everything (i have yet to find an outfit that didnt look good with them) you can go streetwear, girly, nerdy, casual, sporty, chic, grandpa. they've easily become my "ugh i have no shoes to wear" shoes and they always deliver, literally becoming a wardrobe basic for me. and i feel like, even though they're a "trending" shoe, they're actually far more classic and timeless than a lot of other trendy shoes bc of the silhouette. but if you want a "trendy" or more personalized shoe you can do that with the samba's too! seriously the most versatile and comfy shoe i own, they've basically eliminated every other sneaker from my collection (even my vejas)

i have bought unif shoes three times and i've only liked one pair (the slug boots in shiny black). hated the flex shoe because it was uncomfortable too tight in certain areas and too loose in others and the cass shoe because the buckled straps would come undone so easy they were so floppy and thin.

11:15 I've been trying so much to mindfully shop clothes that fit my wardrobe. With this, it's hard to visualize from memory how much wear you'll get out of this. Recently I've been taking pics of my outfits and put it in a single album so it's easy at a glance. Then sometimes if I'm still not sure, I add my outfit pics and the item that I'm eyeing to buy on Canva (the one with the whiteboard format). I just put those side by side. It's really helpful to visualize how an item will fit in with the rest of your wardrobe :D I'd like to use Milanote too but I've only got the free version

Re: the silver cowboy boots. I think that's a risky one because BOTH cowboy boots and silver metallic have been huge trends. If you're someone who loves cowboy boots and silver-- definitely get them and love them! But I almost think Alexa's green metallic version are more "timeless" because the green didn't pop off as a micro trend and it just looks authentic to her. Also, like Alexa was saying, I think you just have to be self-aware and know how bothered you would get by people saying what you're wearing isn't trendy anymore.

😉Personally, I wouldn't splash out on expensive ✨️metallic✨️ 🤠cowboy boots. Too much of gamble. I wouldn't get my cost per wear down enough. Now, if I saw a 2nd hand pair for cheap in silver or gold, I might risk it for kicks & giggles. I do own gold & silver sandals that I'll wear occasionally, but they're simply not something I wear all the time.
RE: colored & patterned sneakers, I definitely lean more minimalist. Love chunky trainers👟 for hiking & long walks, but I prefer sticking w/classic colors (white, black, gray, & brown) & minimal detailing. Too much color or stripes can add more complications. Although I don't mind a bit of 🌟sparkle or bling🌟 in studs or crystals.
Feel like chunky dad sneakers suit shorts, skorts, trousers &/or athletic gear more. Make exception for my white leather marshmallow soft Hokas. They're a favorite. Will also wear my black Skechers w/hot pink accent w/my hot pink pencil skirt💖. Also my lavendar New Balance sneakers w/my purple pencil skirt💜.
Otherwise, I prefer to wear slimline sneakers w/skirts. Classic Keds w/🎀 of laces discreetly tucked away (own 'em in black, navy, red, pink, & white); Converse platform high tops (black or white); leather Vans (blush pink); & Skechers slip-ons in black or gray. No show socks required in most cases.

As a crafter (knit&crochet) the 90's style sweater talk raised some thoughts. I gotta say i know nothing about this brand and if it's ethical or even the materials they use. But i have stopped buying sweaters completely (because i can make them myself which of course isn't true for everyone) bcs i can't be sure whether a shop has made it ethically and usually the materials they listed are horrible and i don't want them on my body :D and on the other hand buying from a fellow knitter from etsy will drive up the price a lot! It's just when i think of making someone a full sweater for 40 dollars it sounds ridiculous, knowing just the price of the yarn alone will go over that, let alone all the work that goes into it. I think it would be good to start talking about handmade items and their prices in a better light, because they really are that valuable. Sure it's okay to choose not to buy a handmade thing for 100+ if you just can't afford it, tbh i probably wouldn't either atm! Just what you said Alexa and the way you said it left a weird taste in my mouth 😅 it made me feel like you would advice against ethical pricing on knit items and didn't want yarn artists to get the money they deserve. Maybe in the video we just weren't talking about specifically hand made things and im ranting about nothing lmao 😂 but anyway ❤

@52 I'm specially talking about the Coogi vintage secondhand sweaters!!! the $40 price was in regards to the one I got at the rose bowl back in 2019 and now people are selling them for $400 on depop which if that price is okay with you then of course do what you want with your money, but I just wouldn't spend over $100 on one off of depop. Maybe if it was in person and I could try it on like at a flea market and it was pushing $150, but yeah that's just me and AGAIN not talking about buying a like handmade new sustainable and ethical sweater!! people that hand make their pieces sustainably and ethically should be properly compensated always ❤

I totally get that like seeing something suddenly be sold second hand super expensive when you know it's not worth that, that's just craziness :D but yes it's completely different than what i was thinking haha sorry

Baggu is cool but don’t think we should be getting rid of the reusable stuff/bags we are have and are in fine condition to be getting baggu bags because they cool.

AMEN!!!!! a point I should have made!!! I will say their reusable bags have been a game changer for helping me reduce using single-use plastic bags at the grocery store because they fold up perfectly in any bag whereas I would always forget my tote bags since they were bigger (I still own those of course and still use them for things but I just always have one of my baggu reusable bags with me in general now automatically).

I waited a year to buy adidas sambas bcz I was scared I was influenced. I bought them because for me they're like loafers (I wear loafers very often) but sneakers version😅 I also wanted to buy cargo pants and jorts when it was big, I'm glad I waited, bcz I hate them now.

If Alexa isn’t going to say it, I will. Do NOT buy those camo clothes. Are you going hunting? No? DON’T buy. Do you really want to look like Cletus from Hickville, Indiana on a chilly fall morning waiting in the deer stand? Is that fashionable to you? Trust when I say, NO.

🤫Sorry, camo can 💯% be 🆒️ streetwear. This isn't about dressing like 🏕Bubba in the Backwoods.
🖤Love all my redneck relatives, but this is an elevated🥂 &/or even adventure style camo🗿 (think Lara Croft Tomb Raider variety too).
See it around 😎LA mixed w/a sophisticated &/or glamour vibe too. 🪡Once caught a talented urban sewist online who created elegant maxi skirts & matching bucket hats✂️ out of camo shorts & trousers. ❤Loved her flashy elegant & military mix.
As someone who suffers in the triple digit heat🥵, I try to stack the deck in my favor. Using lightweight camo & cargo pants, tech, or utility fabrics often beautifully wick body moisture away in 🏜 dry desert climates😰. Comfy w/less wrinkling too.
In the collab thrifting video w/Alexa the other week, Carrie wore camo trousers & conveyed an edgy chic🎉.
In general, I am more of a pattern minimalist, but oddly enough I can tolerate some🤏 cheetah & camo prints. It must be evaluated on a case by case basis. 🖤Also love the black, browns, & olive greens in my color palette that pair well w/camo.

my mom is Italian (I think my grandpa does have some german in him though so obviously nothing is exactly half I guess 😅) but yeah her side is very very Italian like New York Italians and my dad is dutch (he has some Indonesian as well I think but mainly dutch) he was born in Indonesia, moved to New Zealand, and then they came to America when he was 12 (most of his family is still in holland where my Oma and Opa grew up I think)

As a vegetarian, the camos gonna be a no for me 🤗

🪖Camoflauge is very plant friendly over all. Environmentally, it's also wonderfully utilitarian & lightweight in extreme hot climates🥵. I don't understand the upset about the connection...
Beige Khaki camo is meant to blend in desert environments, while Green Khaki Camo in forestry areas. This does have military leanings, so maybe that's it. I'm certainly not pro-war, but living in 😎LA w/triple digits🌡I do like cargo pant like fabrics that breathe & won't crumple or wrinkle under climate stress.
👖Plus, jeans, like most chinos, are too heavyweight & structured for me (esp. once it hits 75°F).
Oh, duh. It finally hit me😔. The hunting angle. 🤦‍♀️As a long time vegetarian, you'd think I would get that right away. Personally, I wouldn't want to blend in the wild. Camo is more a streetwear vibe as well as a comfort thing.
Let some bear🐻 see me from miles away & go off in another direction. The 🦌deer would probably scatter bcos of my noise in the brush. I also talk or sing to warn 🐍rattle snakes & lizards🦎 away. Mountain lions🐾 shy away if you make a commotion by jingling your 🔑keys too.
I certainly couldn't 🏹hunt or fish🎣, but there are some valid reasons for it. Fish & Game Rangers at 🏕National Parks closely monitor animal populations. They determine what needs to be culled back, so they don't starve or over run these territories.
Hunters & fisherman serve a purpose in the 🔄 cycle of life. True sportsman treat the animal w/dignity & are greatly appreciative of their sacrifice. In the process, they can provide sustenance for themselves & family🍽.
⚕️Frankly, some ppl also respond well to carnivore &/or keto diets. It's been proven helpful to reduce & eliminate symptoms of some debilitatingly painful autoimmune issues as well as inflammation, dementia & other dreaded diseases. Scientists has proven cases where going 100% plant based doesn't always give everyone the nutrients their body needs.
I eat 🥚eggs & other 🧈dairy products🧀 myself, but I look for humanely treated livestock. Also stay away from faux meat too. 🤢It grosses me out to taste like the real thing. Also, bcos of Breast Cancer risk, I can only eat a minimum of soy products. 🍄I've always hated the taste & texture of mushrooms too🤮.
😳Sorry, style & diet wise, you do what makes you feel most comfortable.

Hon you are a fashion influencer. It's OK to buy things and the price sometimes reflects quality. Avoiding fast fashion is the best thing you can do if you care about ethics. I don't want to be lectured on not to buy clothing on a fashion haul site.

This video is just for fun! If you want to buy it, buy it! If you don’t, don’t! I’m more in a style rut where I don’t really know what I like and don’t like currently so I keep buying things that in the end I don’t really love so I’m trying to kind of make better shopping habits and also reflect on what clothes actually make me feel good vs having a closet filled with things that I don’t wear

Wouldn't call this a fashion haul site. This isn't to dogpile; I mean it neutrally, but I don't think that's entirely fair to Alexa. She definitely lives within the divide between environmentalism and consumerism cultures and I think both her stated intentions and actual actions reflect someone working to strike a balance in that very real world. Influencing people to thrift and think about clothes differently doesn't do nothing for the movement and to simply (and pretensiously) reassign her as just another influencer is genuinely disrespectful. Talking about trends does not make you superficial or slated to be pro consumerism; here she clearly recognizes where people are at and keeps the same tone and energy and outlook as any video. Maybe you think sharing her opinion makes her lecturing; I don't know what you do with most of social media. You don't need to confuse down to earth with basic; the rest of us get it.
