Funny story. I went to Funcoland about 3 days before Christmas 1995 I brought my entire NES collection which was small at the time along with all my accessories in order to get a Playstation since my mom wouldn't get me one. It wasn't enough store credit so I settled for a Sega Genesis to replace the one that was stolen from me and 2 games Vectorman and Gunstar Heroes.
@@AlanBaertschi It was. The killing part was I told my mom I wanted a Playstation but I ended up getting a cheap GPX home stereo with 3 disc changer dual cassette and 12 music CDs. I got my own Playstation the next year when I got my first part time job and I ended up selling that stereo to a pawn shop for $25 then went to Funcoland and bought Megaman 6 for NES.
Hope all is well Alan!! We hung out a bit in our Morris Bye and CRMS days. I’ve never forgotten this commercial of yours man!! You should reach out to the Cinemassacre channel and Angry Video Game Nerd!!! They would LOVE to meet you I bet!! Their channel is HUGE! Full of nostalgia (betting you’re well aware though LOL)
My childhood, I’m almost tearing up!
It was like going to Disneyworld!
I used to work at a funcoland for a few years before gamestop bought them out. I liked working there. good times
Yeah I loved that place!
Did you give out big checks like in the commercial??
As an old soul person for 1995, I've always wanted to visit FuncoLand.
No doubt, it was a magical place!
@@AlanBaertschiand you know I used to be a Nintendo kid.
And this was REALLY how it was working there. Parents treated our store like a daycare/arcade smh lol
and now you're a better parent from all that training???
When you're a young gamer and set foot through those doors for the first time,it's almost like you were a kid at a candy store. 😊
Twas a magical place! :)
Indeed.
Ah to be a kid in the 90’s again.
Right?? Times, they were a simpler.
The place where I got a Super Nintendo system and still own to this very day. 😊
I miss funcoland
peterplaysbass me too I grew going to Funco Land
peterplaysbass I miss it too, with the digital age kids are more anti-social.
u and me both smh

That dude holds the check up for like 1 second. Just long enough to know how little you would actually be getting for those trade ins.
Hahahahahaa no doubt! And we didn't have many other options back then, couldn't list it on Facebook marketplace. Funcoland was making BANK I'm sure.

Oof. Settled for a genesis instead of a PlayStation? What a sad sad Christmas. 😁

Thanks for reaching out! Who are you??? It's been a while, we're freaking old people now.
I can confirm this did happen when moms left
Moms are the worst, like let me live my life and play video games all day long at the local Funcoland, amiright???
Right? Do moms have something against having actual fun or something?
Plot Twist, the mom was at UPS. She wasn’t shipping or receiving anything. Or was she 😂
I mean, she just left the kid there, couldn’t wait five minutes? Very suspicious...
What a silly/ridiculous commercial HAHA.
Ha no doubt. Where's a 13 year old kid gonna cash an oversized check like that?
At a bank that accepts oversized checks. 🤣
But it was the best silly/ridiculous commercial. How I miss that place so.
