    great video - thank you. We've done a change of the soundsystem on our W164 to a modern version. Not so nice as we thought to be.
    so I'll try this adapter on our other mercedes.

    Hi Max, great video, thank you. You can of course get a bluetooth device, powered by cigarette lighter plug-in, and simply connect it to the auxiliary 3.5mm jack port in the glove compartment. The bluetooth device must have its own 3.5mm jack port, and you use a male-male 3.5mm jack audio cable to connect the auxiliary port to the bluetooth device. Go to Bluetooth/Auxiliary setting in the head unit. That's what I do, and its great listening thru' those wonderful Harmann Kardan speakers.
    Of course, you have ugly cable and bluetooth device showing, plugged into lighter, but storage in glove compartment may work (it doesn't for my phone connection, unfortunately).
    Only pointing out this option, as it saves removing centre console/head unit sections as in your video, for those who feel less confident in their removal/restoration skills.

      Yes, I had this set up in my glovebox, with dedicated 12v outlet as well, but did not like it as it was taking space and was noisy. Removing the unit is 10 min job, good luck.

    Thanks a lot for the video. I understand the disclaimer, the fire hazard and so on, but I would have appreciated to see how you connected the power to the cigarette's lighter. I'll figure it out myself :)

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  7 місяців тому +1

      This device draws only few mili amps, so using thin wires you can unplug the cigarette lighter connector and insert the wires carefully in the corresponding Sockets and put back the connector. Secure the wires to cigarette lighter harness.

    Thanks so much for this video, super helpful!
    Out of interest, how did you power your bluetooth adapter in the glovebox before you made this change? Was that a big job? Can I get power out of the CD changer?
    I think the glovebox is the best option for me as I still like to use AUX from time to time.

    I love the way the original Mercedes Head unit looks, sounds and performs and in terms of connectivity I only needed Bluetooth audio, this happened for $10 for me without sacrificing anything. Let me know what have you done to your head unit, is it still the stock one or have you already changed it?

    can I upgrade my head unit from my 2005 A209 CLK 320 that has the harmon kardon subwoofer and CD changer but the head unit is the one that the screen notoriously peels away and has the mono led.. no color type of screen just led numbers .. I like this head unit better that you show here if its just plug n play and of course add this bluetooth module .. otherwise looking at android units

    • @BenzAddiction
      @BenzAddiction  7 місяців тому

      I recommend you to check the connection type first, if it is optic fibre, it won't be supported by the typical Android auto head units and then you have to buy a seperate converter for the fibre optic conversion to standard audio...

    • @dparham
      @dparham 7 місяців тому

      how about just upgrade to the navigation head unit like you have in video here? mine has the CD changer and harmon kardon subwoofer.. it seems it would be easier just to get the radio like yours which was also used during my year... i guess yours has the navigation? mine doesnt have that currently but i dont need super fancy, just the radio I have was notorious for plastic screen to peel and I cannot read ther non graphic screen.. if I go android style, id do kenwood or sony or alpine ect.. not the cheaper ones...
