People who haven’t cared 24/7 for someone don’t have a clue how hard it is don’t beat yourself up. You put her in a safe place. You two need a break ❤❤❤❤❤
You are great parents dont let anything stop your family from going on vacations and leaving your daughter in respite i hope your daughter feels better soon
Never feel guilty to go on vacation without kids. Everyone needs, and deserves a break. Your the greatest parents I have ever seen. Remember there is never any perfect parents just good ones.
You guys are awesome parents to all of your children, and I think it’s wonderful that even if one has to leave to get back to one child, the other can continue with children on vacation. For the naysayers, there’s a reason God chose to educate people in the medical field so parents of special needs children can have a little break here and there.
You should check out A Rosie Place for children in South Bend, Indiana. They are also a respite my sister spends a couple nights at every year. They do well
Hi there Raylan will be fine, prayers for you all and have a good vacation keep smiling if theres ones thing i always get from your videos is have strong and positive confidence done let negativity let you down From Julie
I was looking for what you thought you did so bad but I didn't see anything. You can't see the future. And honestly, when in doubt, reach out. It's much, much, much better, because they couldn't secure her airway and manage her mechanically, to send her out where that could be done. This time taught you that a plan needs to be in place on case she catches something but that's not something that registers until you've had an issue with it. I catch everything so I do go places with a plan and extra medicine to keep me from being purple because simply having different exposure to allergens or irritants can set me off but I've learned that over time with experience. Y'all did just fine and you're gonna be just fine.
I don't know how anyone else non-ambulatory feels about it, but I hated NYC! First of all, which is somewhat expected, is the crowdedness. (The unexpected part of that is how many rude people would walk right into me and not even care.) Traffic is horrible so when you're in your wheelchair, tied to the floor of the cab, the driving is so horrendous that it feels like a roller coaster whiplash and all! At some point my mom and I were just so sick of it that we didn't go to half the places we wanted to and left a day early. I'm still pissed that we didn't get to go see Wicked like we were supposed to.
@HopeAndSunshine , I'm not judging you at all. In fact, if for none of the other valid reasons, I'm so glad you had the wherewithal to realize Raelynn would've not had a good time and didn't make her deal with all that. My mom and I had only flown into NYC to catch a cruise we were going on, and the terminal was there. We weren't going to be there for long anyway, thankfully, so my mom didn't lose out on more money than she had to lose with us leaving NYC a day ahead of schedule.
Just watched your video do not be so hard on yourself you and your wife are great parents you both Amazing you deserve a break i hope railynn doing alot better now keep being fantastic and awesome parents your doing wonderful job all the best chris and rest of your family from kerrie 😘❤️
Ah, guys im pleased that most of you had a fab vacation, but i'm sorry to hear that Abbi had to fly back, in emergancy for Raelynn. Hope Raelynn is doing ok and has a speedy recovery. Much love to you all! xxxx❤❤❤❤
Yeah, everyone is home safe now. Fortunately, Raelynn was doing absolutely fine by the time Abby got to the hospital, so she was able to get discharged pretty quickly.
Chris, in my opinion, you and Abby don’t have to justify yourselves and Raelyn wasn’t sick when you placed her in Respite Care. I’m sorry Raelyn got sick and that you, Abby, had to leave the vacation early and you, Chris, have to do the vacation by yourself. Poop happens, so to speak. In my opinion, I think people need to know or remember when she was your foster daughter you and Abby weren’t allowed to sign off on medical stuff; thus, I imagine the Respite Care facility’s hands were also tied the way yours were. Thank you for sharing your lives with us.
Yes, when she has labored breathing like that for a period of time, she likely has aspiration pneumonia and needs to be monitored. But if we were home, she probably wouldn't have gotten to that point because we're quick to suction anytime she coughs (which are usually productive)
Mom and Dad deserve and need time away from children to reconnect and reaffirm the bonds of their marriage and to recharge. It is necessary for the marriage that it be tended to just as lovingly as you would tend to your children. You will NEVER get me to say anything about how you run your family as it is YOUR FAMILY and I have ZERO say in anything. I hope you both can get time away just to be married and reconnect with one another.
It’s also necessary to prioritise your other family members sometimes, especially as you chose to take on Rayleen full time., It’s not she was your biological child, when you would then have no choice. I have a disability myself, so I get it from both sides.
If a disabled child is your birth child you still have a choice and as with rayelin some parents can't cope and make decision to leave them at hospital or put them in foster care I've never had kids so wouldn't blame a mum who did that I've never had anan or had kids cos I'm triple risk for post natal parpedrium as I've got mental health issues mental health issues allergies strokes and dementia are in our genes therefore I personally didn't feel right giving a child a life with risks. If they hadn't adopted rayelin she may not have Been here now

This is a huge part of why we left Raelynn in respite. NYC just isn't wheelchair friendly.

You are entitled to a break. Being a 24/7 caregiver is a hard life. She has a safe place to be and she probably enjoys a change too!
Please don’t blame yourself. You all need and deserve a break.
Praying for you and your family and the great 24/7 care for Raelynn. Know that I am thinking of you all and you need a break❤❤❤❤❤❤

Yeah, it's definitely a different life, but we're happy with it 😁
You guys did nothing wrong. Stuff happens. You guys deserve a break from time to time. Hope your baby is back to baseline.
😮😢What happened
She had trouble breathing, probably because she had excessive secretions and they didn't suction it out fast enough.

If she was doing the same thing at home would you have taken raelyn in?
