Orion you can cut the bolts down for the door handles The notches in the screw bolts you can cut them at those points to get the length you need them to be for future reference
I agree with westyzworld. those notches were created for cut points. I wish I could fly out and help you. I love watching your DIY but I would love to help you. Too bad I live in Canada. Happy days Friend! Good LUCK! and CONGRATZ!!

Hi Orion, some tips here from a fellow carpenter, The oak doors make sure you fit 3x 3” heavy duty butt hinges to take the weight, also remember 6” from the top and 9” from the bottom where to place the hinges and then the 3rd centralise between the top and bottom hinges. The door bolts can be cut down to size just don’t cut too much of though 🤣, allways scribe internal skirting boards as no internal wall is never a true 90 degree angle!
@@shaunlovelock hey! Thanks for the feedback, I’ve got 35mm doors with 76x41mm solid drawn butt hinges… will those work? The placement is very useful, thanks for that as well! Honestly I had no idea I could cut them down, it looked like I could but I didn’t want to make a mistake and cut them lol Need to get a saw for scribing, in the end I just went 45 on the miter and caulked the rest 😅 Thanks again mate!
@ you can get heavy duty 3” butt hinges from most places like Screwfix toolstation etc and there not expensive at all, there will be lots of videos on UA-cam about skirting scribes but once you’ve done 1 it’s easy mate!
When doing skirting boards, look into doing a scribe on the internal corners, not a mitre like you did! It’s much easier and it fits in place easier! Also, when cutting skirting boards on your chop saw, lay the skirting flat and the saw moves on the back to either the left of right go give you an angle up to 45 degrees!
@@thefatdabber93 I need to get a saw to try that in the future, I’ve seen videos but didn’t have the confidence to try it when in a rush for this project! just fill the corners of the skirting and go over it with a bit of sand paper to shape the point to how you like! i hope youre putting carpet down in that room xD
@@maxharris29 my miter saw doesn’t do bevel cuts otherwise I would’ve done this method. In the end, I just flipped the board according to which cut I wanted and made angled miter cuts at 45z need to upgrade my kit as I just bought it as an affordable chop saw at the time

Thank you!
After a sad weekend, definitely needed today’s vlog. The skirting board looks actually pretty good, and really like the doors too
@star_gamingx sorry to hear you had a bad weekend, everything okay? It turned out alright in the end thankfully!
Sadly a passing away, watching the vlog helped a lot
@ oh shit, I’m sorry to hear that mate. Sending our love
Thank you ❤️

I had the same issue with the door handle bolts. The notches allow you to snap with pliers

Lay the skirting flat on the chop saw and set tilt the chop saw to 45 degrees, or scribe the internal miters

@ if you’re looking to upgrade your chop saw I’d recommend a battery chopsaw, dewalt or Makita will be best
Please please seal them walls with something like zinsser gardz before painting ❤️

The handle bolts are snap to size. the small notches between the thread at the end
