I suffer with homonymous hemianopia on my right side from a stroke eight months ago. I find that in my right periphery, instead of black, that I have an artificial world made up of what my brain picked up as I entered this environment. As with normal periphery, it is slightly blurred but appears to be real. If I sit down next to someone they stay in the vision, even if they leave and I don't see them leaving. If riding in my car (not driving) blurred scenery passes me on the right just as if I had true vison. I find it amazing what the brain has done, and instead of complaining, I am just thankful I still have the other side, and no other problems.

Whoa! This is almost exactly the same as me. Although I was having really bad seizures or something for 3 years, finally found the correct medication. Much better!
My husband just had a stroke that mainly affected his occipital lobes and surprisingly his follow-up therapy includes nothing for his eyesight -- just motor, verbal and cognitive exercises. We found a neuro opthomogist but can't get in for 10 weeks. Like the 17 hours we spent in the ER, I am again feeling valuable time is being wasted.

I'm having my first appointment for visual rehab next week. I lost vision on the left side of both eyes. I cannot drive, but I do not see a black field or anything like that. Well, it's practically impossible to teach post stroke visual field restoration on a UA-cam video besides being unacceptable as a licensed healthcare practitioner. I dont know what is really going on with my right eye, 14 weeks ago eye started to see waviness vertically & horizontally, see faint yellow tint through the eye when my keft eye is shut, I see white flashes flickering from left & top of the right eye having to wear sunglasses to reduce these effects, i see shadows beside objects as trees etc at night, the other thing i get looking through both eyes is a 3d magnifying effect which also makes me feel unbalanced when i walk, an opthalmologist says i gave retina edema lesion somewhere on the ete refered me out to see a retina apecialist though not willing to go thru another rigurus eye test of what i been thru it was very harsh on me, not sure whats all going on.

I had a stroke more than 3 months ago in my right occipital lobe. It caused a blindspot on the left, but it's not a black thing that's blocking my vision. It's more like pixelated rainbow colors. When I'm walking sometimes I don't see people that are walking towards me and I have difficulty reading, specially with numbers. Even when i close my left eye, I still see the pixelated colors although not as much when it's open. It really doesn't help my reading even if I try to use only my right eye.

Had a stroke 3 years ago and it caused homonymous hemianop(s)ia, wasn't diagnosed until months after I left hospital, in hospital they suspected hemispatial neglect but never tested my eyesight. After seeing an optometrist and getting the diagnosis I've had no further treatment, except being given dark glasses and a white stick. My hemianopia is a little different from all the descriptions I've seen. I subjectively experience a complete visual field, but if I look at an object then look slightly to the left it disappears (can still see the 'background'), if I look slightly to the right I can still see it. I think my brain is doing what it does with the blind spot, filling in the area with no input with its best guess at what is there based on information from the good side and from memory.

Just ordered a 30 diopter fresnel prism to see if that works, anticipating a lot of trial and error to get the desired result. Tried an app developed in the UK which is designed to help with regaining lost visual field but could never get it to work. can someone help with an idea? since 2 years i have out of nowhere many maaany seeing conditions (permanent death pixels on static points) and mostly small visual field losses at random (~5 times per minute) been by many eye docs, universitys, scans etc etc etc still nothing...my "structure" is intact they cant find a clue i still have the vision field losses (tiny ones) evey few seconds and other problems...my whole life turned upside down i really cant even anymore...

I had a stroke 11 months ago, at the age of 54. I still have a bit of a blind spot slightly right of centre in my vision, but can see right of that again. My husband just had a stroke that mainly affected his occipital lobes and surprisingly his follow-up therapy includes nothing for his eyesight -- just motor, verbal and cognitive exercises. We found a neuro opthomogist but can't get in for 10 weeks. Like the 17 hours we spent in the ER, I am again feeling valuable time is being wasted.

I'm having my first appointment for visual rehab next week. I lost vision on the left side of both eyes. I cannot drive, but I do not see a black field or anything like that. For the most part my brain draws things in, but when something unexpected happens (like a car crossing in front of me) it looks like it's coming out of nowhere. It's been 3 years for me, and I still work as a graphic designer.

Well, it's practically impossible to teach post stroke visual field restoration on a UA-cam video besides being unacceptable as a licensed healthcare practitioner. I dont know what is really going on with my right eye, 14 weeks ago eye started to see waviness vertically & horizontally, see faint yellow tint through the eye when my keft eye is shut, I see white flashes flickering from left & top of the right eye having to wear sunglasses to reduce these effects, i see shadows beside objects as trees etc at night, the other thing i get looking through both eyes is a 3d magnifying effect which also makes me feel unbalanced when i walk, an opthalmologist says i gave retina edema lesion somewhere on the ete refered me out to see a retina apecialist though not willing to go thru another rigurus eye test of what i been thru it was very harsh on me, not sure whats all going on.

Can you help
I had a stroke more than 3 months ago in my right occipital lobe. It caused a blindspot on the left, but it's not a black thing that's blocking my vision. It's more like pixelated rainbow colors. When I'm walking sometimes I don't see people that are walking towards me and I have difficulty reading, specially with numbers. Even when i close my left eye, I still see the pixelated colors although not as much when it's open. It really doesn't help my reading even if I try to use only my right eye.

Had a stroke 3 years ago and it caused homonymous hemianop(s)ia, wasn't diagnosed until months after I left hospital, in hospital they suspected hemispatial neglect but never tested my eyesight. After seeing an optometrist and getting the diagnosis I've had no further treatment, except being given dark glasses and a white stick. My hemianopia is a little different from all the descriptions I've seen. I subjectively experience a complete visual field, but if I look at an object then look slightly to the left it disappears (can still see the 'background'), if I look slightly to the right I can still see it. I think my brain is doing what it does with the blind spot, filling in the area with no input with its best guess at what is there based on information from the good side and from memory.

Just ordered a 30 diopter fresnel prism to see if that works, anticipating a lot of trial and error to get the desired result. Tried an app developed in the UK which is designed to help with regaining lost visual field but could never get it to work. Willing to try anything at the moment, sick of bumping into things and not being able to find things I put down 30 seconds ago.

can someone help with an idea?
since 2 years i have out of nowhere many maaany seeing conditions (permanent death pixels on static points) and mostly small visual field losses at random (~5 times per minute)
been by many eye docs, universitys, scans etc etc etc still nothing...my "structure" is intact they cant find a clue
i still have the vision field losses (tiny ones) evey few seconds and other problems...my whole life turned upside down
i really cant even anymore...
