Roofers get away with a lot of crap because they know the majority of homeowners are not going to go up on the roof and inspect it when they are finished.
we don't need no flashing, it never gets windy or rains here... wow, wonder where in Guatemala these guys came from!?
I thought I saw ridge venting on one of those peaks.
That garage, but that is it
My house was a McBride. Needed a new roof just 2 years after being built.
First off: roofers walking around on roofs, like I’m walking into my bedroom…..dayum….
2nd: for the layman; the roof looks spectacular……until he points out the problems, and I’m like, “oh sh!t”…….we really are at the mercy of inspectors and builders (and by “We”, I mean the general public)….. I just had my roof inspected…… I’m not selling nor do I have any leaks….its just that my house is 30 years old, and I’ve been in it for 15, so I just wanted to give the ol’ gal a look by a pro…… sure as shit, pics of nails popping up, cracks in the sealed areas and a gap where the roofer asked me, “do you have a problem with bees?”…… needless to say, the springtime vacation is canceled now……
You get what you pay for..
Thank you for these helpful tips in what needs to be pointed out with these inferior roofing and siding jobs. As consumers and homeowners, we need advocates telling us the problems out there that are not in our vernacular or profession. We all can’t be experts on every topic so your thoughts are very much welcomed to help make our homes be kept well and in good functioning order.
Between your channel and one other inspection channel i watch it terrifies me to think what will happen when i need a roof in a few years. It seems everyone's an amateur, they give you the equivalent of an Earl Scheib paint job.
"Stack effect?" You mean convection currents? No reason why they wouldn't work with gable end vents. Maybe not quite as efficiently, but hot air will always rise.
Hot air will rise, not go to the right or left. Gable vents are useless unless the wind is blowing through one end and out the other which rarely happens in the hot weather in the midwest. Having a full length ridge vent will allow that hot air to escape weather there is wind or not
What material is the covering of the walls made of? Plastic? Wood? Or such a wood plastic compound?
Who the hell is still using 3 tab shingles? And who the hell overlaps/CA cuts the valleys with 3 tab shingles?
Mexicans did that roof
So many mistakes.
