I am so fortunate, I just had an epiphany.
As a child my grandmother taught me if you are going to do something do it RIGHT and why put off for tomorrow what you can do today. This has made me a source of ridicule my entire life. I have JUST come to realize that MOST perceive that I am trying to OUTDO them. I NEVER got that. Now that I do I realize that I must learn to demonstrate more caring. And you have started me on my way.
    Thank you so much.

Tears on my eyes when I found out I already knew the right answers for "trust" and "admire" and "care about them". I do it exactly like that, not because someone taught me but because of instinct and genuine, authentic character. Thank you for making me want to contribute to society even more, start writing my own book and not being afraid of creating miracles...

I have been on a journey for the past ten years to be more honest with myself and get rid of my defensive pride and to care about the people I love but not only that - to know how to show it to them. It has been a long, painful and hard journey and you have given me more clarity. Thank you!! Your ideas come straight from the heart of Jesus and are all found in the bible. Thank you for communicating them so effectively. I will be playing your videos for my children. I am a home school Mom.

Thank you so much Brendon, this time of mine is the most difficult, struggling, painful time where, I'm applying for new jobs, giving out samples, and yet getting frustrated and caged in my past where I was working with a nice ngo, but got duped out, because of the silly lame reasons of the boss giving me , indirectly that he didn't want me.... gives me head aches, but ever since I saw your video on disappointment something inside me sparkled, and I'm holding on to that light within me, in this dark period of life, sometimes I feel toooo frustrated, I feel like death is better, but on knowing how hard it is to live, one can't just go out there to die, that's not easy, to take your life out, out of these frustrations, I'm still fighting this major darkness, so I come back again and again on your videos and words of motivation to get me back. my two three samples are still pending... and I've got to reach out to them, again with a lot of lot of apology.. gosh artists are so sensitive everywhere..

The speech hit me so much in the first 10 minutes of the video that I stopped watching, went to my patio and cleaned it up(got rid of junk, cleaned the garden, packed up the camping gear that was sitting there for a while). I came back after 2 hours of cleaning, and watched the rest of the video.

I referenced the caring/ not caring as personal logic. I feel that it was a way of stuffing my feelings and emotions. I was feeling disconnected. My children moved away to their moms having raised them since they were 3, 4, 5 and I told myself. That is life. It's par for the course. I had done a good job and now they decided to move on into their next chapter of their existence. As their new chapter opened mine had closed. I felt my influence had also ended. Now, I know that it has only changed. I can now find a way back into their life where they will allow it. Even though I miss them very much, it is work and it is within my grasp to improve our relationship. More integration just by calling. Thank you for the new discovery. It has given me permission to move forward on every level. May God bless you and yours for the goodness you create.

Kids will always idealise the parent who is not around, much like if you ignore a women who is into you she will get jealous and idealise you but if you bought her flowers everyday and told her how much you loved her, she would treat you like shit and take you for granted, life is a balance and a dance of proportions.

Brendon...Good video...I liked the simplistic look at time management...Most people are not as effective as they'd like because time management is made to be a complex exercise.. You approach gives it some focus. I think your message of persuasion is good as well. I saw someone say in another comment "this is common sense". Well it might be but how many times do we see people wanting to influence without building a relationship first. I tell my sales people all the time don't just talk to people when you want to sell them something. Reach out to them. Ask about their lives just to say how is it going. Give yourself don't just sell A small investment that creates trust and builds a relationship.. Good video. I agree without other comment. Slow it down some. Hope this helps.

Great vid! I constantly struggle with having to temper my passion and empathy so that I can remain productive. Basically, my problem is that I care TOO MUCH!!
I have definitely found that preparing for my day is THE MOST important thing I can do every day. I start with doing this same thing: asking myself what I WANT to do today. Not, do I want to be lazy, but what do I feel passionate about today. And I build off that, I then start going through the things I need to do to support accomplishing this day's goal. Breakfast, Coffee, Walk around the block, do a small errand. Then and only then, will I sit down in front of the computer and start by going through my communications with existing clients, following up, reaching out, etc, etc, etc, then onto accomplishing tasks, just like go through here....
However, and this is a big HOWEVER.... I still struggle with feeling like I am not accomplishing my tasks fast enough. People are waiting and no matter if it is my fault or not, I feel responsible. I feel like I could have made a difference if I had just known about the problem earlier, if I had picked up the pace last week and been proactively investigating the possibility of having to do something.... and then.... I am back to square one.... How do I get rid of this feeling of guilt, guilt that I am not productive enough?
Any input you or anyone else has would be great. I know I need to get past this hump soon. My client base is going to be increasing very soon and I am going to need to be able to handle the increased number of resources and sub-contractors and the whole gambit and I don't think hiring an assistant is the fiscally responsible thing to do yet.

Can you elaborate on what you meant by "priorities of the day"? Like, do you mean I should tackle today's deadlines first before my other project tasks?

    • @queenlatifahk8542
      @queenlatifahk8542 7 років тому

I think 'priorities of the day' is subjective. They depend on what you have planned/ committed yourself to do on a particular day. The activities you do in a day may fall in any of these four categories. 1. Important but not urgent 2. Important but urgent 3. Not important but urgent 4. Not important and not urgent.
It us recommended to do what is important but not urgent. Fore example if you are a student and you have a paper due in a month then working on that paper from now or as soon as possible = doing what is important but not urgent. And you will meet the deadline, you will have enough time to work on it and improve it to its best version and you will not work under pressure, you will most likely do an excellent job. So plan your schedule in such a way that you don't do things last minute.

Any organization is better than no organization :) and having a full method like Brendon provides can be the only thing that a person needs to reach its goals or to have goals at the first place :) but I would like to add something, and Tony robbins would agree with me, priorities are not priorities. Your priority should be the things that are important but not urgent. Because urgent things are urgent because of other people and things that we're not in control of and the less control we have on our lives, the less fulfilling our lives will be. Yes, we can't control everything, in fact we can't control most things but we can control more things than we currently think we can. So even an emergency can be neglected most of the time by being prepared, but the trick is being prepared, not being focused on preventing things, not being obsessed about possible future events. As you get less urgencies by being focused on what's important for you and have done all you can do to avoid having urgencies/emergencies, you will have more time and focus to direct towards things that are actually important but not urgent, because remember things are urgent because people and things beyond your control demands something from you.
So instead of going through priorities and only directing time and focus towards your goals at the end of the day if you have time left is not the best option to have a fulfilling life. You should always focus on what's important for you rather than what you need to do aka. Priorities :) otherwise you will end up being a professional small task performer. Go fight with dragons and be victorious, then nobody will ask you if you have done your chores and run your errands. One tip: you can delegate or divert things, meaning you can delegate the things that are urgent but not important, you'll see many things are not that urgent and absolutely not important for the life you want to experience/live.

I've been enjoying many of your videos here and must say, you present everything I've been voraciously absorbing for years, but in such a clear, concise, and exceedingly well presented way, that's so engaging and CARING and real. I'm very grateful!

I work as a college admissions counselor and the market to recruit students is competitive. Your fill in the blank section on “People are influenced most by those they trust, admire, and believe care for them” was helpful in my approach with prospective students.

Extremely powerful information and insight provided here. When I saw the 1 Page productivity planner, I immediately recognized the simple genius of it and what a powerful tool it is. I printed out tons immediately and that was even before I saw this video. Brendon is a true gift to humanity. Most importantly, I love the choice of words he uses to convey his message - - altruism, caring, admiration, raising up others....very nourishing food for thought in these harsh changing times.

The part about the "vision" not being there causing depression is so true. Also experienced with pro-longed job search/unemployment after a lay off. There's a stigma to being unemployed "STILL!?!?" even after week 2 of joblessness.
Very hard to fight the depression from lack of vision, plans, or purpose.

Watching videos at 2x speed takes some practice, but I believe anyone can do it (I probably may say that, as I am not a native speaker). It saves you a lot of time and it ensures you focus on the video as you obviously cannot multitask ADD style while watching videos at 2x speed :)

Monte H I have a morning routine that incorporates some aspects of Tony Robbins Morning and Evening Questions.. I go through each item on my morning routine in a strict order I learned from S.J. Scott in his book "morning routine"
For goals I read another book by S.J. scott on SMart GOALS and an excellent book called "Succeed" by Heidi Grant Halverson --
I use the eisenhower matrix -- labeling tasks by importance and urgency into 4 leves of priority -- I use todoist app to schedule things and I time block things according to the eisenhower matrix. I have a project list in todoist in which I label all parts of my life by project.
I use LifeTick app for goal setting and the Lift app for habit tracking. I write down my routines and rituals in evernote and refer to them when I forget the order of things.

I admit, it sounds complicated...but it's an accumulation of little things I have learned. Yeah it's worked well for me. At the end of the day it's all about ACTION -- no matter how much planning you do it won't matter if you aren't action oriented..

Schedule your day ahead of time. Waking up in the morning without knowing what you have to do during the day can make you either forget important stuff or take on more responsibilities than you can manage. Ultra-successful people realize the sheer importance that every minute plays in their day. Keeping a schedule for your day will help you manage your time more efficiently.

I found it more relevant and somehow one of the things and weakness I have seen and for years was focusing on other people's agendas. In a sense that it killed my productivity and buried it. With these tips one gets to do things in line with one's dream. as the saying goes "The only way to learn doing things is by doing them"
    Thanks a million times
