I got a little nervous reading the title. “Shatter” and “glass” in the same sentence usually means something else! Glad my new beautiful window is safe!
What a brilliant, graceful, and captivating auctioneer. Her presence added an extra layer of excitement to the event, holding us spellbound with both her beauty and the effortless command with which she steered the proceedings.
Gorgeous! Tiffany…. Enjoyed the auctioneer, Phyllis Koa is elegant, she captures the audience attention with such poise and grace, truly enjoyed this auction. More of Phyllis Koa please ✨
Awestruck @ the beauty!! I've been a lover of Tiffany all my life, for me the price of any of it is far beyond my means. However can see the beauty and craftsmanship as something that will never be out done .......
Her American accent sounds very elegant and posh. Almost sounds like Gwyneth Paltrow, but just more refined and expensive with those hints of RP British influence in it. She literally pronounces all her consonants at the end of syllables, and her T and D don't become an R like standard American English. It's definitely not a natural American accent, since that accent doesn't really exist, but she seems to have developed it for her profession, as her clientele consist of pretty much the high society. Gives me very Old Money vibes.
Lots of questions as to where the window came from or who actually owns it. And yet still that is one of the prettiest windows I have ever seen. Definitely a pretty window.

Auctions for high art are such a masquerade dance because only one person can actually afford it and wants the item, the others are fanning the flames...who ends up winning the bid may not necessarily be any of these people. As a Sociologist I find this to be the ultimate game of peer pressure.
I wonder the representatives/agents are whispering to their clients on the phone? "Yes, it would really fit in with the drapes... yes, you only need to say the bigger number..."
@@RamoonaArt i agree, and they should. the rich work very hard for what they have and want to hold on to. that is the way of reality. now and forever. remember Jesus was a man and a GOD. he was the definition of what rich really is on this earth as well.
If you ever want a good museum to go to, you should definitely go to the Morse museum in Florida, largest collection of Tiffany glass and it is BEAUTIFUL
Let's remember it takes less than $20 to cure childhood blindness. Is this the best bang for the buck? There are also other artists more than capable of replicating this magnificent work for far far less.
Actually that is not true because glass of this caliber is no longer produced due to health and safety laws. Compounds like arsenic, mercury and heavy metals went into formulating the glass.
@@suburban5276 actually there multiple glass manufacturers that produce opalescent sheet glass of this caliber, tone, and texture that could be used to reproduce a window like this. Health and safety laws have resulted in dramatic cost increases to the material but good choices are still available.

How the rich play. Nauseating when there is so much poverty and war in the world. The creators of these pieces got virtually nothing for them at the time of creation.
I got a little nervous reading the title. “Shatter” and “glass” in the same sentence usually means something else! Glad my new beautiful window is safe!
i thought that too was watching for it to break ,
I thought the same thing, my heart sank for a second reading the title lol
I came here to watch it shatter. Nope, just some glass selling for 11 million lol.
The title of the video cut off after shatters for me haha
Same. Watched the video to see a 12 million dollar window shatter. Was disappointed. Also it sold for $10.8 M, not 12.5M.
i love how Phyllis Kao (the auctioneer) knows them all by name and calls them by first name. it's very interesting to watch the dynamic
the way the auctioneer said “what is their house not big enough?” to challenge them to go up to $10.8m made me chuckle
It's just not right to house shame billionaires. I feel so bad for them.
i love watching her auctions. they have always been light and very entertaining. search out her many past auction events.

As are Hellena. Jorie and Oliver
2:35 "Don't bring a knife to a gun fight" I LOVE HER SO MUCH
This back lit work from the Tiffany Studios is, to my mind, more impressive than almost any oil on canvas work. Beautiful and sublime.
The auctioneer's voice is so soothing. I could watch these for hours.

I wonder what it takes to work your way up to an auctioneer at Sotheby's.
i think there was a video where she told her journey into how she became an auctioneer
@@RamoonaArt yep, i think she said she apprenticed first and she said there was an audition
Ms. Phyllis Kao ladies and gentlemen.
Amazing auctioneer, stating the obvious.
Not sure if the use of words 'smashed' and 'shattered' is appropriate for this particular item.
My thought as well.
I think the person who posted this video meant it to be a pun.
That’s precisely why the words were used.
it's called a "joke". pretty novel concept for you, i'm sure.
It’s exactly why they used that word, actually.
Watching her is PURE art❤
The auctioneer is so captivating, she's an art piece herself!
It does shatter indeed ❤
I hope it doesn't
I don’t know anything about this piece but I clicked the video because the caption said it shattered 😭
Why does the title of the video say $12.5 million when the bidding closed at $10.8?
Still, it’s a breathtaking sum.
The higher figure represents the total paid, including the auction house's fees.
There are seller's and buyer's fees you know...
Buyer's premium. The auction house's fee for selling items.
Added the Shipping & Handling cost...
@imnotyourp
Shipping would be negotiated outside of the hammer price plus the buyer's premium. Shipping is not offered by every auction house.
She’s gonna save auctioneering single handedly. Bringing back grace
"Is their house not big enough?" was diabolical. 😂😂
Gurl, she worked that room!
That suit! {chef's kiss}
