Brother you got it completely wrong, when your Iranian friend said 'dood' the plant (Jadi Booty). In Farsi dood means smoke not milk. So he meant to burn that plant to release the smoke from it in the air to possibly repel (send away) the bad spirit or jinnat. Because jinnat are made of flame of the fire so they are very sensitive about certain kind of smells resulting from the burning smoke of certain plants, in this case isfand plant.

That was hermal (Urdu) or speelainaiy (Pushto). In Pushtoon culture it’s burnt for nazar, evil eye. But I worked in Uzbekistan and there they burnt it for removing germs of colds and Flu.
The biological name of that plant is peganum harmala, in Urdu it's called Harmal and in pushtu Speelani, as mentioned below by a fellow, in Pakistan it is used to take away evil eyes.

You and your Vlog has taken me back to my area and culture of my forefathers when they used to live this type of small mid houses in the period of pre 1950.
With the passage of time, these small mud houses slowly were changed in to bigger mud houses of normal room size.
This type of small houses were built due to their very poor life and capacity to survive in this harsh environment.
Even in Pakistan, mountainous areas of far away region, even today, small houses of this size exist now.
Shifting of resources is slowly improving.
Weak heath and small height is due to deficiency of food.
