On the bright side....The Knucklehead who installed that pump wasn't smoking when he did it.....Had a 2002 Escape XLS 4x4 with V6....Ran good...very fast.....but I could never get a comfortable driving position....Steering column seemed too short....Had to sit close to wheel, and legs felt cramped....Kept for two winters, and sold...
Damn! How do you forget the O ring?! You’d think he’d have seen there was one on the old pump. Smoke out the tailpipe means the fuel pump is bad. Geez!
Don't mean to step on that dudes toes,... But,man is that ever some sloppy work. Unsafe as well. Good thing you made it right brother. At least your sister doesn't have to breathe in the gas fumes anymore. 👍✌️
I’m surprised he didn’t hook a line backwards or rewire the fuel pump or do something Magical performance mod to it😂😂 some people shouldn’t try to play “mekanik” especially if they don’t know what there doing lol but at least you fixed his screw up Jay, keep up the good work!
@That V8 Life Sorry bud, must be an okie thang, u no how da south is partner, we can’t even rite a sentance carrectly butt it’s ok we don’t need to spell or rite to fix a jalopy carectly,
I had my local NAPA guys tell me that my 3.0 V6 will keep running long after the rest of the vehicle rusts out around it. Now if I could just get the AC fixed on it.
I still remember my first time to help someone put in a new fuel pump and tank. The pump was to tall, the rings were bent and had to buy a new set, the wiring set up was wrong and had to buy a different wiringand the new straps didn't hold the tank so we had to use a ratchet strap to hold it. Close to seven hundred dollars later the truck ran for a few months and needed another new fuel pump. We just junked it and got the money back in parts.
Never ceases to amaze me what people won't do🤣😂🤣😜 Great video jay!! Don't recall ever seeing an escape with that many miles! WOW! Happy memorial day to you and your family. 🇺🇸
I would love to go down south one day and work in a small shop. Seems so relaxing to just be able to hop in your car go do stuff around town, come back and work on a vehicle you are comfortable with. Sort of seems like the life even if the pay isnt extremely high
Thanks for this video, Jay! I was curious how to, but never really tried to, replace a fuel pump. Most of what I have are Ford trucks, so this was excellent for me and I plan to save it for sure! This leak plus a few cigarettes and the whole thing could have gone BOOM! Happy Memorial Day to you and your family!
Hi I have a question, I have an 2016 Ford escape n mine is idling hard n when I turn the a. C. off it idles a little better but not much do you know what it could be.. thank you
Who doesn't love the smell of 93 octane cruising down the road?.....Oh, is it just me? OK. (Just kidding) That was a fairly decent quick fix. Too bad all gas tanks aren't that easy to access.
I thought you were driving the green ranger. That previous installation was amazingly inept, though. I'm not even close to being a licensed mechanic and I wouldn't do that.
I had a 08 escape v6 AWD. Loved it but it was rusted out at the shock towers. I had planned to fix it but it got totaled by a deer. It was still drivable I drove it for almost 2 weeks before the insurance company came and got it. I tried to find another one but either was more then I could afford or it was rusted out. Ended up getting a 10 focus to replace it. I don't have the focus no more gave it to my daughter and son-in-law. I now drive a POS 01 Silverado that I got for free after I hit the deer with the escape.
I would like to know if you have any more classic cars in stock at your yard ? Any and every make and models Datsun , Toyota , fords Chevy dodge everything. Love your video!
He probably put in the cheapest POS fuel pump he could buy on Amazon. It would be wise to put in a good unit if you plan on keeping the vehicle ( IMHO).
As someone with empathic and psychic abilities, I often pick up on subtle cues most people miss. Deep down, you don't like your sister's ex-boyfriend, do you?
Yup some people shouldn't be anywhere near a vehicle and her Ex is one of them. She's lucky to have a good brother looking out for her and protecting her from Dumb ASS 'S 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is why I do the job correctly. If my girlfriend breaks up with me, I don't want my stupidity broadcasted to the world. I can at least put in an O-Ring.
Nothing worse than someone working on something when then don't know what they are doing makes the next guy to work on it annoyed an I liked that as stupid as box of rocks lol
My latest discovery of previous owner/mechanic f**kery was a straight piped exhaust on an 03 tracker, NOW wait you say, thats not terrible and sure, true it was fine-functional enough just noisy but so what. Well, the bend that should have went over the axle tube went over the top of the diff, and at about 1.5 inches of bump in the suspension the exhaust pipe acted as a bump stop between the diff and a frame crossmember. Horrible Horrible ride, I don't recommend using your exhaust as a bump stop.

Love the first gen escapes! Always reminded me of the old Cherokee
Great video as always Jay! I hope you, Cody and the rest of your family have a wonderful Memorial Day

the Duratec v6 is actually a pretty reliable engine, I see a lot of those early 2000s escapes still on the roads escaping the junkyards
Rusty shock towers seem to be what kills most of them
@@pibbanon1987 Dorman actually makes weld in replacement shock towers for these.
I had my local NAPA guys tell me that my 3.0 V6 will keep running long after the rest of the vehicle rusts out around it. Now if I could just get the AC fixed on it.
The engine itself is rock solid. But the PCM has a habit of failing, taking out the ignition coils and catalytic converter with it.
@@ddg2256 Nope, you've got it wrong. The ignition coils fail and take the PCM and catalytic converter out with them.

Good thing you caught that. A recipe for disaster down the road
Never ceases to amaze me what people won't do🤣😂🤣😜
Great video jay!! Don't recall ever seeing an escape with that many miles! WOW! Happy memorial day to you and your family. 🇺🇸
Fords never die. People just park em.
You wished this was a ford, it's a Mazda with a ford badge on it 😂😂😂😂😂
Nice video! Can't believe it has over 300,000 miles!
I would love to go down south one day and work in a small shop. Seems so relaxing to just be able to hop in your car go do stuff around town, come back and work on a vehicle you are comfortable with. Sort of seems like the life even if the pay isnt extremely high
Or maybe the pay is high 😳

Awesome job as usual. Have a safe and blessed Memorial Day.
I saw the video of when u gave it to her and how happy she was the engine still sounds good
Love your sense of humour Jay . Keep up the good work, love from the UK🇺🇸🇬🇧
308,000 miles dang. Thought the escape I sold a few years ago at 220 was a lot
I have 136k on an 02' Escape. I don't drive it much. Last time I fueled it up was in October last year. I still have 3/4 of a tank.
Even I know it’s not supposed to be like that! Good looking vehicle for 308k miles!
Great video Jay got a few chuckles on this one. On another note looking for a clean early 2000s Ford F-250 xlt super duty extra cab 4x4. 😁👍
I was too and found a quad cab long bed 2000 dodge ram Laramie slt 360 4x4 1500.
I thought it was a 99.title says clearly 2000 door tag says 11-99
How can an Escape have over 300k on it??? Wow!!!! My mom's last vehicle was a 2002 Ford Escape. I drove it for a few years.
wonder if the old o ring is at the bottom of the tank?
The access panel is nice on the early Escapes. I wish ford did it with all their vehicles. I'm dropping the tank on a 2013 this weekend.
Even if there wasn’t access to the fuel pump we all know jay would just make his own like he did with that Cadillac 😂
"Persistent problems, call your Doctor"
Hey Jay. I hope you and your family had a great memorial day weekend. Jay your hilarious. Awesome video
Is that the original engine and trans?
I have a 2005 Escape love it...was a gift. Only 119miles 1 owner she 90 year's old. Hope I get 300,000 miles
I saw a 2008 Escape for sale with 34k on it. $5800.
We love the OG dirty DODGE.
I always fill up with gas before i work on fuel pumps.😂😂
Love when it comes with the trap door. I cut one in my F body, took a 8 hour job to a 1 hour job.
Wow! I remember when you gave it to her!
Hi I have a question, I have an 2016 Ford escape n mine is idling hard n when I turn the a. C. off it idles a little better but not much do you know what it could be.. thank you
*Cut off circulation!* 🤣🤣 LOL... Nice work putting it back the way it should be Jay. Take care 🙂👍
First time I enjoyed watching a repair video😂😂😂

You never want your ring to be too🙃 tight and your biggest fan blows pretty well 💨!
How in the name of all that’s holy, did that dummy manage to do that?
I just knew as soon as the pump wiggled that ring was missing, 😆 Liked vid
is it in the fuel tank ??
I remember this truck from the birthday video.
I had a 08 escape v6 AWD. Loved it but it was rusted out at the shock towers. I had planned to fix it but it got totaled by a deer. Is the bag on the backseat yours? What is it?
What year is the Escape?
Jay just remember you can't fix stupid because stupid is forever
Sweet your doin cleanup
I would like to know if you have any more classic cars in stock at your yard ? Any and every make and models Datsun , Toyota , fords Chevy dodge everything. Love your video!
A claw hammer and an iron bar produce the correct torque setting; GNT, Good and Tight.
Loved the comedy lines!😂
Excellent video 👍 👍
Well there is a big ole Homer Simpson DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
I've owned an escape for 7 years. Still running strong at 218,000 ❤ford did one thing right, they put a ford badge on a Mazda 😂😂😂😂
Hey Jay, try Ozium it will get rid of any smells in your car.
Nice one! 👍 I thought I was your biggest fan 😞 lol
Anybody in Atlanta that can help me with possibly this exact issue or something related?
Good video bud keep up the good work 👍
Thanks for the great content!
Live your videos
Biggest FAN 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💟
Good video 😀
I love your honesty for the dislike of that brain dead.😅
He probably put in the cheapest POS fuel pump he could buy on Amazon. It would be wise to put in a good unit if you plan on keeping the vehicle ( IMHO).
The white nylon seems to be a staple of cheap replacement fuel pumps. Seems like the oem ones are usually black.
I wonder if the ex watching the video to hear you cussing him out 🤣🤣🤣
Holly shit no gasket sweet
Does her ex bf think Deliverance is a documentary?
Sounds like the ex-boyfriend has all the sense of a half-chewed crayon. She and the Escape deserve better :)
Kool
You remind me of Billy the Kid.
Your sister and I share the same birthday. 😊
lol,lol, you said wet spot!!!!
Use fresh coffee to asorb the gas smell....i use coffee to get rid of ALL odors!
As someone with empathic and psychic abilities, I often pick up on subtle cues most people miss. Deep down, you don't like your sister's ex-boyfriend, do you?

I'm not 1st,but I'm not last.I just want to say HI and thank you for the laughs too.
Go to Walmart and get about 10 pine scented stinky trees to hang in there!
This is why I do the job correctly. If my girlfriend breaks up with me, I don't want my stupidity broadcasted to the world. I can at least put in an O-Ring.
That carpet being caught in the fuel tank could've been a fire hazard... Not the best repair job I've seen for sure
Nothing worse than someone working on something when then don't know what they are doing makes the next guy to work on it annoyed an I liked that as stupid as box of rocks lol
Escapey 😂

I think he wanted her to crash and burn.
I wonder if there's a video response by the Ex boyfriend, 😂
you uwu yayyyyyyyy
How did she let her ex boyfriend do this job and not you? Lol
First!
Why do you have to say the F word not to smart.
Reminds me of my brother Bobby...he never could run ewing oil
