I think a lot of people over-analyzed her reaction. Being a major star like her, she lives with a certain level of fear for her safety. Every time she goes out on the road, she has extensive meetings with her team to discuss the new security plan and what to do in emergencies. All major touring artists have to do this. There are very real threats to her safety. I'm sure she's had bad dreams about this. Even with all her security, it still takes a certain amount of bravery to get up onstage in front of several thousand people, not knowing if someone in the room might wish to harm you, just hoping that the venue staff screened properly for weapons (we all know they don't. those bag checks are far from thorough. They have too many people to get through and they do a rush job.) For Britney to suddenly be face to face with a stranger like that, I can only imagine how scared she felt. This is something that celebrities don't talk about. It is in their best interest to keep the safety discussions private, but there is a reason they have guards outside of their hotel room doors.

One of the downside of being a celebrity unfortunately. Back in 2000 Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice of the Spice Girls) had 3 bullets mailed by a crazy guy to her home (one for her, her husband and her at-the-time baby.) The letter said he was going to shoot her dead at the end of the Spice Girls set at the 2000 Brit Awards. The threats were taken as credible so the police were involved. Security was obviously very tight the night of the awars so nothing actually happened but as they were the band closing the show with a medley of their songs, there were pyrotechnics and balloons. At the end of their set, a balloon popped right on her and she instantly clutched her stomach and literally thought she had been shot. She broke down in tears as they all hugged each other realising she was okay. The organisers of the event hadn't even told them there was a net containing thousands of balloons despite the threat!! She talks about this is in her autobiography.

There are very real threats to her safety. I'm sure she's had bad dreams about this. Even with all her security, it still takes a certain amount of bravery to get up onstage in front of several thousand people, not knowing if someone in the room might wish to harm you, just hoping that the venue staff screened properly for weapons (we all know they don't. those bag checks are far from thorough. They have too many people to get through and they do a rush job.) For Britney to suddenly be face to face with a stranger like that, I can only imagine how scared she felt. This is something that celebrities don't talk about. It is in their best interest to keep the safety discussions private, but there is a reason they have guards outside of their hotel room doors.

One of the downside of being a celebrity unfortunately. Back in 2000 Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice of the Spice Girls) had 3 bullets mailed by a crazy guy to her home (one for her, her husband and her at-the-time baby.) The letter said he was going to shoot her dead at the end of the Spice Girls set at the 2000 Brit Awards. The threats were taken as credible so the police were involved. Security was obviously very tight the night of the awars so nothing actually happened but as they were the band closing the show with a medley of their songs, there were pyrotechnics and balloons. At the end of their set, a balloon popped right on her and she instantly clutched her stomach and literally thought she had been shot. She broke down in tears as they all hugged each other realising she was okay. The organisers of the event hadn't even told them there was a net containing thousands of balloons despite the threat!! She talks about this is in her autobiography.
