Thanks for the tip! As a new pool owner, I’d like to say I really appreciate your easy to follow videos/course. I ran across the TFPC method where you exclusively use liquid chlorine/bleach. It also calls for higher FC levels than normal because of the relationship with CYA. What is your opinion on this method?
This might be a dumb question but do you add chlorine tablets or liquid chlorine? I add both I add 2 3 inch chlorine tablets my pool about 9000 gallons. And I always have clean blue sparkling water however I have at the bottom of the pool of used a handheld pool cleaner it works well but it seems like I always get dirt at the bottom of the pool even after I clean it. And I don't have trees near it what could be the problem.
Pool stores will often tell you to drain and refill the pool when there is too much CYA. I think that can be skipped by just using liquid chlorine\bleach.
I love your tips on here. I bought the binder a few years ago, but your short tips keep me on track - great reminders.
Glad you like them!

It works for a lot of people! If you follow a method, stick to it so you don't confuse things. That's where it can get messy.

As long as your chlorine levels are normal, you should be fine! Do you have a sand filter? Or are people tracking in dirt/sand?
What if your cya is already high will the liquid chlorine work or will cya block it out
Can different chlorines be mixed??
Don't mix different chlorine products
@@SwimUniversity thanks!
Many add liquid plus these tablets. Both are different types of chlorine.
Right when I thought I had everything dialed in. This is the first time I hear of CYA. (not that I've looked that hard)
If you have an outdoor pool, especially if you get a lot of sunlight, it's an important thing to test and balance!
How much unstablized chlorine would I add to a 45000L pool?
Just add 1 gallon a week, adjust as needed
Do they make un-stabilized chlorine tablets ???
No because otherwise the tablet would not be a stable chlorine source.
@@buckdude181 Yes they do,
Poolife NST Prime Tablets (20.2 lb) made out of Cal-Hypo only for does with Chloride Lock, because of high CYA!
how much of a concern is this if you're backwashing via sand or DE filter?
Everytime you backwash you lose water. When you add fresh water it dilutes ALL the chemicals.
Does granular chlorine have CYA? I do not mean shock.
It does have CYA
and how do i know? Cya is new for me.......
There's 2 easy ways to test for it, with reagents and test strips. 30 to 50 pmm is ideal but up to 90is still ok
Use test strips to see what your levels are
Hi there my cya is 136 … how much liquid bleach should I use and what kind. Thank so much
Shhhhh.... it's a secret!
🤫

Just add liquid shock found anywhere cheap if you CYA is getting to high.
Or just let the sun burn the high chlorine levels
