The Folsom High School Jazz Band I, from Folsom, California and directed by Curtis Gaesser, has received several awards over the last 30 years under his leadership. The band has won the DownBeat award for the"Best High School Jazz Band" in the nation for the last four years in a row, and 13 times since 1993.
Folsom High School Jazz Band has won the best band at the Reno Jazz Festival three times in the last four years, and has made the finals every year since 2007.
They have performed at the Montreux, North Sea, Umbria, and many jazz festivals around the globe. They have performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival 17 times since 1993.
