"Suzie could they do better?" "I dunno Jeff, I wasn't paying attention"
Man, they should let you on the show for all the videos you have posted and kept up with. I'm American, so I have never heard of this until stumbling across your page. Thanks alot, you've given me a bunch of laughs today.
Rachel's posture and makeup have improved so much, but she's just as lovely here anyway.
She looks a bit like Gwyneth Paltrow here.
1:22: "Hi Jeff..." She had no absolutely no idea the things she'd get up to with Jimmy Carr on Cats Does Countdown.
Thanks for all the eps!
you are confused when you see Rachel actually looked older than she is now, wtf
Yes
@@harriantoncornell5405 That's a numbers girl standard. The fountain of youth is just behind the number board.
Good morning, that's a nice tnetennba
it's so strange to see nothing happens during the countdown clock
What a nice person Rachel Riley is.
Good spot, it's harder than it looks to get it because with 3 Ns it isn't high probability. Also, we were fairly nervous and missed quite a few words - must have been the pressure of Stelling's debut!
Goodness me she looked nervous
+james dean Thanks for the information Dean - it's good find out that you weren't actually killed in the car crash - but at the age of 78 when this was recorded you did well to attract Rachel
She was very stiff - somehow over the years that quality has melted out of her and into half of her audience.
Cinnamon. The first that springs to mind.
I remember this fondly. The new look was really good, and Rachel and Jeff were both perfect for the show. Pity he left.
The second round's best word was 'Cinnamon'.
I saw that too, I was a bit surprised nobody saw that, even those in Dictionary Corner
this video is 6 days older than me ._.
Jeff Stelling is a legend!
i remember running home from school to see the new series!
I absolutely love this new set...reminds me of the one Jeopardy used in the States in the early 90s.
I love the set too when I first saw it. The pink set just didn’t feel right and was also really ugly looking with the blue tiles but this is now what I call a real set! Kept since with a couple of new additions.
Seeing Jeff Stelling on this is weird. Very used to seeing him on Soccer Saturday.
This is a January 2009 episode from the British game show Countdown on Channel 4 (United Kingdom) and it's also the first episode of season sixty with our new hosts: Jeff Stelling & Rachel Riley. 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
8:05 cant believe they all get 6s and miss CINNAMON for 8!?
Jeff is my hero.
Second to last letters game: cinnamon for 8
First catch I'm actually proud of.
Rachel's dressed like it's the mid 90's here. Always has looked gorgeous but her appearance has kept improving over as she's got older.
Rachel is looking very fucking conservative :). Compared to her appearances on 8 out of ten...
This is how she dressed in her first few months, until she got more confident.
Abe Grimm until she got her own makeup and wardrobe department !
whats with this language?
Second letters round. Cinnamon. No?
I am in the USA and have become a fan of the show after finding it online a year ago. The show would never make it here because it takes intelligence to play and doesn't feature overhyped, screaming contestants. :) Sadly, UA-cam clips are the only way I can keep up with the new series. I can't view the C4 videos because I am not in the UK. PLEASE post more (old and new) here!
Did anyone else catch the stumble at 3:03 is when Jeff is introducing David, "....and he is currently working AN AS administrator...", should be ..."as an.."?
8:12... can't believe no one got cinnamon. I got that one in about 5 seconds.
Then again, it's the first time ever I've beaten both contestants while watching :P
8:12
This was Episode 4879 as of Monday 7th September 2009 & the original Episode 4733 was back at Monday 28th April 2008 in Series 58.
Oh man ,best idea, get Windass in dictionary corner!
LOL! I've just passed my driving test TODAY & James Hurrell's brother was my driving instructor, such nice folk :D
did they not fucking shuffle the letters in this episode?
"Suzie could they do better?" "I dunno Jeff, has it? do better?"
Cinnamon?! Not even in the dictionary corner?
Susie hasn’t changed one bit!! Hard to believe that she is 54 right now!!
True. Looks the same. Weirdly, Rachel looks younger now than here. Dressed far older than a 22-year-old.
i love seeing Rachel Riley on TV , but it’s even more amazing because Jeff stelling is my uncle and it’s just weird
@rfercefvrcerfceffre9... Did you watch when Jeff was in dictionary corner while Colin Murray presenting
8! cinnamon as a word in the second round !
@IoEstasCedonta i was thinking the same thing, how did none of them get it?
andrew sachs is the best FAWLTY TOWER!
Yeah I can't believe nobody got that, it screamed me in the face in a second.
7:43, surely CINNAMON? Someone correct me...
Was this also the first one recorded at Salford?
It's odd they didn't get that...it's the first and only thing I saw when the letters came up...
jeff... unbelievable!!
Rachel looks terrified!
@sensrule96 I saw it too..... is it different spelling in Britain? Perhaps proper?
Did no one else realize the EIGHT LETTER WORD in there. In fact, it's a rather simple one that almost everyone would know. That word, my friends, is CINNAMON!
That's a great spot because it has 3 Ns and is low probability. It's easier for us to get high prob words with high prob letters so you should really congratulate yourself here - you're a natural!!
They missed "cinnamon" at 7:35
I got daughter
lololol
Every presenter since Richard Whiteley has been the same. Although Lynam took miserable presenting to a whole new level.
I think you're about right there.
CInnamon?!?!?
You used three ns there is only 2
@superflipper76 Is it spelled the same in the UK?
Rachel please please do not go on strictly come dancing - this is a post from 2019
What dictionary do they use? 'reshoes' is in mine!
They are Using The Oxford Dictionary
7:36 CINNAMON
Also CONMAN
She's bound to be nervous - she's replacing one of the most recognised women on Channel 4 - Carol Vorderman.
I like her though - she seems really genuine =)
You'll have to forgive Andrew, he's from barcelona.
I'm not sure what I make of this new version. Jeff seems affable enough, Susie's still there but Rachel feels like an outsider - not her fault but she needs to settle in more in my opinion
Safe to say Rachel relaxed but she looks quite awkward doing the letters.
Noticed that too, seemed kinda obvious.
Now look at her. Wow.
Stelling is a legend.
I got an 8 on the second round - cinnamon?
Okay she did looked like a math teacher back then.
@ellis5956 yes, me, and I'm not a native speaker....
Agh.. this was hard to watch. I was really proud of finding 'cinnamon' in round 2 though.
Moss would crush these fools.
CINNAMON! HOW O.O
Rachel looks so rigid and uncomfortable. they should move the housing for the letters up a little for her. She's too tall, and hence looks very self conscious when trying to lower herself.
Cinnamon
@AussieEvil Every other country seems to think so , so its gots ta be tru :3
they are now trying to make Rachel look like carol...
i got shorers in the first round XD
E's err good!
Davids a crazy guy
They could have made cinnamon
@erikdraven1731 Oxford Dictionary of English (second edition, revised).
Cinnamon?!
2nd letters round: cinnamon for 8.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the word cinnamon. Can't they find it with their computers and dictionnaries ? It seems that they are useless. In france we have the same tv show but they automatically find the longest words with the use of computer
mistermanugo
Well it is not like these people are the smartest of the bunch. They fail to remember they do have modern day technology. I, personally, can not work my way around any electronic and neither do I want to. I have seen what it does to people but if I can walk through the gardens, ride the horse with my siblings or play piano with my children why would I? Life is for family, not feuds. My children have been brought up where you do wear corsets and crinoline's/crinolette's and believe in curtseys to your elders - maids not included - and you are taught how to side saddle and be a proper lady and the manor, far away from civilisation, is perfect. The same upbringing as what I had.
okay. very manual game not? her wrist is gonna twist after 20 episodes.
First word I saw.
She looked sexier here. Then fame hits, lose way too much weight and all skin and bone. Here she looks like the girl next door type which is much hotter
hmm? She appears thinner here than she is now. Anyway, it's neither here nor there as her frame has remained mostly the same except the expected maturing of the lady parts.
Why did Irish fella need a passport?
He probably flew. Plus Tyrone is on the other side of the country so no access to a ferry.
Brexit mate
This was 2009 Brexit wasn't in effect then...
It was a joke you fucking nitwit
8:56 I wish a g got there
Rachel is more beautiful now...
If that is possible
Like a Fine Wine
Agreed.
WE’VE JUST GOTTEN WORD OF A 9 LETTER WORD BUT FOR WHO CHRIS KAMARA??
That blue set is ugly.
i hate countdown now its not the same
they should bring Carol Vorderman back
she was alot better looking than Rachel Riley
Us Americans are too dumb.
