I would recommend you design and build your own ship, but if you want to buy one, I hear good things about the Trident, Rockhopper (sold at the Sunny Ship Center), and Komatsu (sold at K-Bots). Personally, I have only taken a look at the Trident and think it looks like a good upgrade since it's fast and holds more ore than what is easy to upgrade the original ship to. You do need both the materials and money. However, you can buy ore at the auction house (Press comma key).

@XD9rottie Hmmm. I see. I'll add those to my ever-growing list of video ideas. This might be up near the top. However, there are other older videos about upgrading the old laborer that might help you for the time being. They may not have the ByteSized brevity, but I'm sure that they get the job done.
Thanks for this cool Video, really helped alot. I have a question regarding the shipbuilding in general. Can i only add parts/modules in the easy build mode at the base or can i add parts/modules when im outside in the open space?
You can only add easy build modules in the easy build hall, at least without tearing them apart first. You can build onto your ship anywhere. You need to use a welding tool for beams and a bolt tool for anything else to do that.
They don't need to be charged, last I checked. As long as they are inserted into the utility body, they will do their job. I have a video on assembling ship tools if you want to take a look.
You're the second person to say that. I wonder if it is a bug... In any case, I suggest checking that you are using the welding tool (not build or bolt tool). Also, if you added the parts outside of the build mode, or even in the build mode but placed them into the world and then grabbed and placed them onto your ship they will not be recognized as a module.
Yes, if it's a module follow the instructions at 6:45. If you just put something down (not on a ship) you can press 'p' to pick it up into your inventory. It will go to your backpack if there is room.
@@XenoCow thanks for the reply, I tried this and I kept getting an error, and I’m pretty sure I had enough space in my inventory. I’m not exactly sure what to do
@@XenoCow it was a singular ore crate. I’m starting to think it’s a bug, it won’t let me bolt it or it won’t snap to anything either. I think I ended up figuring it out, I restarted the game and that seemed to fix it. Thanks for the reply’s though, this is game is still awesome regardless.
I could do that. In summary, you hold right mouse button down with your bolt tool to remove the old one and then after placing the second ('C' to make it snap into place) use left mouse button instead.
Did you put it on in easy-build mode? Make sure that there are bolts in all of the spots around the bottom edge. Also, you can only craft with it if you are right next to it and have the "storage" option selected if you are at the station or "inventory" option and ore in your pack if you are out and about.
@@XenoCow Put it on the tedious way, yet it still registers as broken in the building tool - it cannot be repaired since it's full hp. And I'm trying to craft while out mining, I'm guessing that might be the problem ? Is there some sort of "station only" limit to crafting ?
@Fiirow1 I don't know about the broken building tool part... However, I know that you can craft out in the belt by dragging the necessary ore from your ship inventory to you pack's (the two slots above the ship slots). Then you have to select inventory on the right side of the crafting menu.
I suspect that either the part was not added in easy-build mode in the first place so isn't recognized as a "module." Otherwise, I would think that you are too far away or are holding a tool other than the welding tool, the build or bolt tool perhaps.
@@XenoCow I was only able to install a simple container (why?). I installed it badly. And I want to remove it. But it doesn't turn green when I point the instrument at it.
@VVidocq By "simple container" you mean a modular ore crate (the red box)? How did you install it? If you used a bolt tool, just hold down right mouse button to remove it with the bolt tool.
@@XenoCow I figured out how to install the container. I didn't have a tool before. I bought it and was able to install containers. But I cannot install the blok of 4 crates in easy build mode. It is not snapping to the ship.
@@VVidocq Awesome. In the Known Bugs section of the Discord server, the devs say not to place normal items (as in normal crates) on your ships. I wonder if your ship is now bugged since you did that... I think I have heard about the snapping bug. I suggest taking off any normal items that you placed outside of the build mode's snapping, despawn and respawn your ship, and see if you can snap things again. Maybe a restart of your game could help too. I'm grasping at straws.
If you drop an item out into the universe and then place it on your ship ('c' to snap) then you can hold the left-mouse-button to bolt it there. You may need to go around and just left-click if it needs more bolts. Remember to try and bolt into strong parts of your ship.
Currently, you cannot attach individual devices by themselves in easy-build mode. For modules, you drag the icon of the module you want to your hotbar, press that key, then left click to place it (scroll wheel to rotate, and x, y, or z to change rotation axis).
