I say: be strong. If you’re changing mains now, it’s likely you’ll want to change again and again, consider that. But if you genuinely just don’t have fun with your character anymore, then play who you do have fun with
The Raito Duck Hunt example and talkinf about hoe little experience most people have gave me a light chuckle. Not because it isn't true, it definitely is true, but much moreso because I'm one of the very few exceptioms. My only real practice partner mains DH.
As someone who's currently in that mid-tier main crisis, this vid helps a lot. I dont know whether i should stick to Ridley or not, but i do have characters i enjoy playing other than him so I guess we'll see.
I changed my ex-main, Persona 5's Joker, to the legendary Sephiroth for Ultimate, picking him over the leader of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts to represent as my brand new DLC main. And so far, Sephiroth is OP, especially with the Spirits I've equipped him with. I've been using Joker, Dark Pit, Falco and Blue Yoshi for YEARS and I finally decided to just ditch all four of them at the start of December 2020, where I met the legendary one-winged angel thanks to that EPIC Ultimate reveal trailer of his. My brand new high-tier main is more superior over Joker, who was my first high-tier main before Sephiroth came around. I've been using Joker since April 2019 and I finally decided to switch up my playstyle and strategy by using Sephiroth. And I'm loving the new results with this character so far. I'm more comfortable playing with Sephiroth more than Joker because the one-winged angel fits my playstyle and is far easier to control once mastered.
I shift mains a f-air amount but my first competitive main chose me and I rode his rocket launcher to being a local legend in brawl...his name is Snake. I was so glad to see him return in Ultimate. I also picked up Cloud in Smash 4 and I knew I had my mains in ultimate. But... like Byleth chose you... A DLC character bonded with my heart just like He did with the wounded keyblade Wielder named Ventus... I still jump between mains but Sora speaks to me... telling me to come back
Forget I said anything about mailing Sephiroth, meta knight or greninja. I was at my college playing smash bros and was just 3-stocking people as *random.* So…am I a random main?
First off I watched this video and the “how to pick your main” today and both were surprisingly actually helpful. Most videos I’ve seen about this are cliche or just plain stupid. At first when I played the game I jumped around a lot until I found ness. (I don’t spam pk fire). I just loved his moveset and especially landing pk thunder 2 jukes. Now though I’ve been having some trouble with him and feel like I’ve hit a roadblock. He’s my best character by miles and I could hypothetically actually win local tourneys with him. I generally three stock my friends sometimes never being touched. But I kinda hit a point where I feel like I’m finding his flaws too big or that some of his tech is just not stuff I wanna put time into. So now for a few weeks I’ve been hopping around characters getting decent with them for a few days and then moving on. I like the squad strike idea though I’ll give it a try and maybe even give robin a try too lol. I always thought she looked fun but I just wish the spells didn’t run out. Anyway thanks for the videos and I just subbed
I've also been in your situation bro You shouldn't feel bad for choosing someone else, it gets to the point when youre too good but your main isn't good enough for you, that how I picked up Samus, I liked metroid but whenever I used Ridley, I wasn't getting the results I wanted, so when I saw Samus I tried her and I got even better so that's when my smash main turned from a crappy d tier, to a godlike A tier
This is interesting. I just started smash like last week, but I started smash because I love Byleth from Three house and want to use him so bad. I even bough the dlc before I get my hand on smash itself lol. I dont really care much about become the best Byleth main, I just happy using him , and want to getting better and know him more and more. I know I still have a long way to go and my reason may difference from many smash player. I played Byleth and main Byleth because I just love him and want more of him beside three houses. And im glad you like playing Byleth as well! He/She are fun to play, and yes, smashing with Amyr is very satisfied lol. I think regardless of your reason to mained any character, as long as you enjoy it and accomplish your goal of playing smash, thats good enough 😊
I've had like four "mains" at this point at first I mained kirby, then I mained inkling, then byleth, now I'm considering hero and pac-man of all characters I have no idea what to use as my main now because I don't even know what my playstyle is
In the end, having a main or not, changing it or not, for whatever reasons you may find is just nonsense. The character you choose is the game you will be playing. You have to enjoy the game you are playing beforehand, or... learn to enjoy it. But a fighting game will always be frustrating and a struggle at times.
I’ve had probably the one of the longest history of mains which I won’t get in to but I will on say this my first ever main for ultimate was joker now upon his release I don’t even think about him cause I mained inkling but I noticed me not growing whatsoever using her and aswell as trying out literally every single character to no avail I decided upon joker I was doing but some stuff happend and I dropped him no almost 2 years later granted I still played smash everyday during those 2 years somehow I forgot him and how much fun he was but he didn’t come naturally i spent countless hours on training mode until I get everything there was to understand and now he’s my main I do have a secondary which is mythra and a tertiary which is mii sword fighter but for sword fighter he was different he came to me in an instant in just understood him but I don’t have as much fun with him so he’s not my main, but yeah that’s my story hope it made and have you some type of hope to never give up 💪👍
How I chose my main: I was just playing around with characters like, Chrom, Bowser Jr., R.o.b., and both Pits. I liked playing as them, but as soon as I started to get more competitive at smash, I started to fail with them. Then, I came back to 1 certain character that I had played but absolutely hated due to my lack of skill as that character, Banjo. I played him, and started winning. Then I thought, You don’t choose your main, your main chooses you. I said to myself, I think I found my main. And I did.
I feel this, I used to be a king K main and his playstyle got estremly stale and decided to pick a main whoose play style i prefered. mewtwo was my new main who i felt much better about me as a smash player.
i honestly haven't found my main or what playstyle i am due to how inconsistent i play and can't get thought the whole roster. Idk if i should be doing this offline or online because I've tried to use quickplay but quit half way with all the samus/link, annoying play-set/strategies(like 1 stock chroms) and the t-bagging.
Some people will disagree with me, but I would recommend practicing with computers to find your own playstyle. There was once a time when I tried using Shulk and thought I was really good with him, but it turned out that I was just playing against really bad players, and once I started playing against good players, they snuffed out every trick I had. With computers, you're basically assured that they'll play at the same level forever. This will help you discover which characters you intrinsically click with. (Plus they don't teabag when you lose)
@@redgerran That was like that with DDD until i quit QP and started playing arena, also what lv should the cpu be on because i hear 9 is bad and should i should get byleth cause I've been avoiding that character with the whole FE/smash problem?
@@Kritzsoma You'll hear that computers at basically every level are bad for you. That's mainly for people who can easily beat level 9 CPU's, but when you're trying to find a main and test out your playstyle, I think CPU's are perfect for getting comfortable with whichever character you use. As for which level, I would say whichever one gives you a challenge without giving you a headache. Have fun learning what you can do with your character, test their limits, and find out how much you enjoy using them. Keep practicing until you find one that you like using more than anyone else. Byleth isn't a top tier by any means, by the way. I use her because she's my favorite character to use. If you're avoiding a character, there's no reason to use them (especially if you have to spend money to use them). I hope this helps.
I've been in a similar situation with my main, Jigglypuff. I used to mainly play her near the end of smash 4 and for most of ultimate. My first experience with her was at a friend's house and I chose her because I got annoyed at losing my second jump through many means. Since then I would have considered her my main, but then terry came out and all of a sudden I started having more fun and won against certain people I may have not won against with Jigglypuff. I never switched tho. Instead making terry my 2nd main and keeping Jigglypuff and shulk, ultimately getting rid of chrom. Basically I agree with the philosophy about letting your main pick you. Unless its greninja. Then you'll be doomed for everything in life.
I started playing lucario recently and just fell in love with the aura mechanic, i still want to get into using more than just him but I’m happy with the type of character he is as of rn and he fits my play style well i think
Honestly, I fell in love with my character. I was messing with Lucas and loved playing him a ton. Then I was like "hey, I've never heard of the game he's from. I want to try it out". And I thoroughly enjoyed it and fell super in love with the character in general. Just made me like the character enough to keep pushing him and stick with him. For a period, I even thought he was a dead-end character. But I loved playing him still, somehow. And now I believe in the character like no other. So HAH! I'm a Lucas main, deal with it, lmao
Really love the video and I'm glad you found a character that fit you best! Is it OK if I go over my own experience? Starting out I mained Dark Pit (obviously). His moveset just kinda clicked with me and I enjoyed his character's... characterization so was it a match made in Heaven? Yeah, no. Got my butt handed to me 6 ways from Sunday, but eventually I started making progress. Still I didn't really feel satisfied. Yeah, the Pits are fun to play but they just don't really have anything that made me stick. And then along came Corrin. Decided to pick her up out of the blue (tho mainly because I thought she was cute in Warriors) and slowly grew attached to her weird playstyle. Byleth became a secondary mainly due to my love for Three Houses (Black Eagles for life) and just how much fun she is, with Pyra and Mythra currently being in a void of "Should I stay with them or not?". While Corrin isn't THE character that I'll always go to, I truly feel like she's my best character and the one that fit my hands the best. Thank you for sharing your story and take my subscription. -the fact that corn and byleth helped with my gender dysphoria also kinda helped-
I get this video a lot been trying to a get a secondary I did main samus but I haven’t been doing very well with her so I been looking for a good secondary so I found lucina and her still of play come to me a lot smoother then samus so I drop samus for lucina for my main
Same thing happened to me I mained sonic and I kept getting wins until I face stronger opponents and I suddenly got really bad and I’m trying to find a main still
i used to main incineroar, but he’s too slow and gets combo’d too easily. still, i love incineroar. he’s easily one of my favourite characters as he has simple, high damage chases and combos. i play incineroar as my secondary.
note: my incineroar plays pretty different to many other incineroar players like magister. also, my friends play combo characters such as palutena, wolf, and chrom.
I’m a kirby main but I actually wanna have another main, Mostly because i’m tired of people telling me kirby sucks. The reason i chose kirby because i want to let people know that low tier characters can be good too, and i like, kirby, yeah- but i also really want to try other characters. I’m thinking of trying inkling or pichu, i heard that they are fun to use. But still i’m more experienced with using kirby, even tho i suck at the game in general
I used to play cap falcon, but i got bored and experimented with other characters. Now im trying to learn to play jigglypuff and be an annoyance to everyone
When i first played smash i was like" oh I'm gonna main Mario" but i was A** at him then we unlocked pit i tried him out and i mained him ever since but I'm getting pretty good with joker so i might change him because I'm losing with pit a lot
I choose little mac i think his recovery is the worst but one of the best if you fighting in the ground i started going to fire emblem characters specially Ike
i switched from top tier joker to steve steve is still new and i think hes high teir but hes so fun however joker is from my favorite game is probably better looks super cool fits my playstyle perfectly but i end up liking and having more fun with steve
I hate that I’ve mained Mario for almost all smash games, i enjoy other characters obviously but I’ve just chosen Mario in all the games since I was very young especially now in ultimate where I see some call Mario very dishonest n all of that.
Bro my main is Kirby I mean it but ever since I got jigglypuff I TOOK JIGKGYOUFF AND STARTED TRAINING JIGKGYPUFF but when I loose to the new challenger no one can beat it except for...Kirby? But jigglypuff attacks suits me more than kirbys!
Sadly I've decided to drop Samus in exchange for Alex, and Alex has been much more suitable for me. Luckily I love both Metroid and Minecraft equally, but its a sad step to take
My other characters I haven’t narrowed down yet but Pythra, Mewtwo, Ridley and Sephiroth I’ve played with the idea of a Shoto or Kazuya, I do really like Ken in Street Fighter IV so I’ve been thinking maybe him as a moderately heavy brawler character
My story with this is pretty straightforward - I used to main Pac-Man since the game came out, all the way up until March 26, 2020 when no character felt like they would fit right until they had spring arms and I struggled with waiting until June 29th for my real main to drop
I thought i was watching a big youtuber's video... You're amazing dude.

Soo that's why maining 2 characters is cooler
I shift mains a f-air amount but my first competitive main chose me and I rode his rocket launcher to being a local legend in brawl...his name is Snake. I was so glad to see him return in Ultimate. I also picked up Cloud in Smash 4 and I knew I had my mains in ultimate. But... like Byleth chose you... A DLC character bonded with my heart just like He did with the wounded keyblade Wielder named Ventus... I still jump between mains but Sora speaks to me... telling me to come back
How does this dude have only 200 subs? Just from watching this, he seems like he should have over 10k wtf
Great video, and also I Main Lucas
I've also been in your situation bro
You shouldn't feel bad for choosing someone else, it gets to the point when youre too good but your main isn't good enough for you, that how I picked up Samus, I liked metroid but whenever I used Ridley, I wasn't getting the results I wanted, so when I saw Samus I tried her and I got even better so that's when my smash main turned from a crappy d tier, to a godlike A tier
This is what I need
I've had like four "mains" at this point
at first I mained kirby, then I mained inkling, then byleth, now I'm considering hero and pac-man of all characters
I have no idea what to use as my main now because I don't even know what my playstyle is
As a lucas main this is starting to feel like bullying
In the end, having a main or not, changing it or not, for whatever reasons you may find is just nonsense. The character you choose is the game you will be playing. You have to enjoy the game you are playing beforehand, or... learn to enjoy it. But a fighting game will always be frustrating and a struggle at times.
for me i changed my main 3 times first it was luigi next was kirby now its pikachu not cause pikachus top tear but the moves fit me so well
Still waiting for my main to get into super smash bros ultimate featuring Dante from the devil may cry series
And I did.
Damn nice story, I found all my mains by simply playing random
@@redgerran Thanks and i'll rethink about byleth later when the arms char comes out.
Aye you got my sub and my vote
Same thing happened to me I mained sonic and I kept getting wins until I face stronger opponents and I suddenly got really bad and I’m trying to find a main still
As a Lucas main I feel u
Should i switch back to pichu and luigi or stick to pythra and falco
i used to main incineroar, but he’s too slow and gets combo’d too easily. still, i love incineroar. he’s easily one of my favourite characters as he has simple, high damage chases and combos. i play incineroar as my secondary.
note: my incineroar plays pretty different to many other incineroar players like magister. also, my friends play combo characters such as palutena, wolf, and chrom.
Who is your main?
@@namelastnamefirst4520 hate to admit it, but lucina
My smash journey was playing against my elite smash friend as my first time playing and I’ve learned so much off my friend
I’m a kirby main but I actually wanna have another main, Mostly because i’m tired of people telling me kirby sucks.
The reason i chose kirby because i want to let people know that low tier characters can be good too, and i like, kirby, yeah-
but i also really want to try other characters.
Nice Video
When i first played smash i was like" oh I'm gonna main Mario" but i was A** at him then we unlocked pit i tried him out and i mained him ever since but I'm getting pretty good with joker so i might change him because I'm losing with pit a lot
Greninja is my full time mine and I have cloud as my other mane and one more corn is my finely mane
Me a long term little mac main: guess I'll die
I had the same experience with byleth! Except I believed her move set was made for me from the start
I choose little mac
i think his recovery is the worst but one of the best if you fighting in the ground
i started going to fire emblem characters specially Ike
This has happen to me but I don’t blame mario for my lossses I blame myself for not understanding how to beat someone with the tools I have
I picked up seohiroth because ganon wasn't fast or had enough range
ill never stop playing ganondorf, no matter how good or bad he is.
i switched from top tier joker to steve steve is still new and i think hes high teir but hes so fun however joker is from my favorite game is probably better looks super cool fits my playstyle perfectly but i end up liking and having more fun with steve
I hate that I’ve mained Mario for almost all smash games, i enjoy other characters obviously but I’ve just chosen Mario in all the games since I was very young especially now in ultimate where I see some call Mario very dishonest n all of that.
Honestly I know I came here willingly but like… I did not need to be called out like that bro 😂
I've never had this problem, i feel so lucky, bcs if i lose, i know my oponent was just better than me
Pfft haha. Hell nah I never questioned my main I don't go to forums or watch tier list to confirm my self. that Hero life.
Sadly I've decided to drop Samus in exchange for Alex, and Alex has been much more suitable for me. Luckily I love both Metroid and Minecraft equally, but its a sad step to take
Why such hate towards my main Lucas
Is it realistic to be the best Sephiroth in the Usa?
I think Tweek holds that title, and last I checked, he was like a top 3 player in the world.
dang, I got a lotta work to do @@redgerran
My boy٫ Kirby is my main!
I mean I main Ganondorf and he’s always been my best character in Brawl, 4 and now Ultimate
My other characters I haven’t narrowed down yet but Pythra, Mewtwo, Ridley and Sephiroth
I’ve played with the idea of a Shoto or Kazuya, I do really like Ken in Street Fighter IV so I’ve been thinking maybe him as a moderately heavy brawler character
I see I made a bad choice for my secondary
I don't know who to main!!!! I've tried loads of characters but I don't know who
i only responded cause your profile picture is a frog
@@legofroggamer485 ok cool
@@Groccol2001 MAIN ALL OF THEM
I see yo play style 😭
My story with this is pretty straightforward - I used to main Pac-Man since the game came out, all the way up until March 26, 2020 when no character felt like they would fit right until they had spring arms and I struggled with waiting until June 29th for my real main to drop
My main hasn't chosen me yet...
#mybroisduckhunt
Yeah, f tierlists! DDD main here!
Why is every single Robin clip from both this and your "how to find your main" video you spamming side special into neutral special?
He's definitely not the best Robin player, and I feel like hes not all that experienced with Robin and should've gave it more time. Like I did.
Probably because you used fully charged B
