It's unfortunate. Seb tends to speak over Max, not out of malice, but because it's his channel obviously and he has a lot of historic knowledge. Would be excellent to get some expert/color commentary from Max.
I think you’re mistaken as to who has the historical knowledge here. Seb is sometimes lacking with things that occurred before he became involved in the sport, Max is more comfortable with what happened back in the 80s and 90s. Of course if you’re sitting there with a laptop it might be a moot point anyway.
@@cakescakescakes Lang hit 186kg clean & jerk, it was epic and perfect. Then the jury nitpicked a flicker tinier than an atom and took it away. You can watch the lift and the absolute travesty of a call at 1:30:30. So many lifts throughout history have been passed that didn't look that good.
Great to see Andreev treat the home town fans to the V. Surprisingly the 155 was not his best. He did 157 in 2019 and even more as an 81. Zanni was perceptive about the 183 he bombed with because he ended up falling even further after this comp, from 9th-10th to 11th because the Colombian Mosquera jumped over his at the Pan Ams. Wasn’t surprised at all Genc made his do or die 188. Look at him after his second miss coming back to warmup room he was ready to rip the wall down.
I really enjoy seeing the lifters back stage between attempts. For the ordinary lifter it’s insightful to see what the superstars do to maintain readiness. Case in point we saw Andreev power the 120 snatch backstage just before he did the 155. Some lifters do a high pull, some do a squat snatch and dump it before standing up, some do a light power snatch. It makes for interesting comparisons.
This comp had a great snatch session with 6 guys between 150/155 including B session. It’s an indication how insane Shi’s 169 is. I know he’s not in that kind of shape anymore but he did 160 at Dohar with a bad back. Rahmat’s cl&jk trumps everything tho even if Shi goes to Paris. No guarantee.
The rule about locking the elbow must be removed! Not to respect such large kilograms raised successfully above the head and just because the elbow is twitched once this is unfair.
Anyone know why CJ Cummings Clarrence from USA exit this 73kg Category after Olympics ? He had much Potential Lift but why now Bulk to 89 and His Lift Number didn't increased ?
I heard second hand CJ was depressed from his performance at Tokyo which lead to some eating problems. There was talk of him reducing but I guess it’s easier to put it on than take it off.
I'm new to watching this sport, and I don't understand this "press out" business. That German fellow seemed to have a dope lift, then it got cancelled for reasons that I can't discern at all. I understand it's supposedly when they don't lock their arms in the full extension properly, but he seemed to...? He was shaking a bit, but as far as I can tell many of the successful lifts involve a bit of shaking. I can't tell the difference between his lift and plenty of others that didn't get flagged.
No doubt Rahmat is way beyond everyone else. But Andreev’s 348 here is only 1 kg behind Asian 2nd place for Paris. 5 Asians in top10 4 Europeans. There’s not as vast a difference as you think if you take the Indonesian out of the equation.

A question about rules. Turkey, Russia, ans I suppose others, span a continental boundary. Are they allowed to pick which continental championship they attend?
The United States, whose athletes were allowed by the EWF and IWF to compete as guests in Bulgaria because their government advised them not to travel to Venezuela
If I remember correctly the Pan-American is being held in Venezuela, an unfriendly to US country and due to the risk it poses on their life US athelets won't comepete there. Bozhidar is insane. the backflip he did after the lift shows his strength. UNREAL.

Max Lang's impeccable lift 😢 Judging in this sport is a joke.

Yes, I think it matters what continental federation your country associates with for example Israel competes at Euros and it's entirely in Asia.
Max was just robbed! Unreal they took that from him!
Waaaay too many ads.
You could tell Ritvars was pissed after he made the 154 snatch because he knew he could've made more if only he hadn't fucked up his 2nd attempt.
Newbie here! Why can Team USA perform even though it is called „European“? Thanks for a little help 😊

WTF is Turkey doing in Euro championships? 95% of that country is in Asia lol, when did they become Europeans?

Russia???
They became Europeans when they invaded it. Europeans became Americans in a similar manner.

Why americans are in european competition?
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ and Israel, Australia, Turkey... also in Eurovision.
In America, we say “ that was a piece of cake” as though that was easy enough, so they shortened it and changed it to “cheesecake”

Ritvars has to bring his jerk up if he’s serious about a medal in Paris.
