The song definitely sounds like Dreadwolf is gonna have at least some darker themes to it, at least in my opinion! I absolutely love dark/horror music so this is making me SUPER EXCITED!! Thanks for the video, as always, Jack!
Ugh this song is GOOD. Reinforces some earlier discussions that DA:D is overall going to be much darker in theme. Baldurs Gate 3 is filling the DA shaped hole in my heart currently, but after 10 years of waiting I hope this game can at the very least honor the narrative. I hope we can get a solid story where we finish off Solas and at least get a semblance of an “end” - I don’t think we’ll be getting another Dragon Age game in the future with how EA is turning everything into ESports mania.
This sound makes me feel like DA:D will go back to DA's dark fantasy roots, and that we're going to experience some of the darkest places that Thedas (And the worlds beyond) has to offer.
I was so excited for Trevor Morris when it was announced he was doing DAI, because od his work with Moonlight, specifically the track called “Saving Josh” (seriously check it out). However, I have yet to ever be disappointed in Hans Zimmer.
It may be a weird take, but the ost for some reason gives me strong vibes of 3 things: evanuris possibly waking up, horrific creations of that one elven "god", and ofc blight. NOW they have my attention :D
I love Hans Zimmer, him and John Williams have significantly shaped the music of our current era and having him on Dragon Age would be like a dream come true... But... I still have a sour taste in my mouth from the way BW seemingly dumped Trevor Morris just to have a bigger name attached to the game... Hope he gets to work on more awesome projects even if it's not DAD
That sounds eerie and ominous. Goosebumps! 😄 I'm currently listening to "in hushed wispers" on repeat. The music for these games is amazing. I can listen to the soundtracks for hours. New music to look forward to 😁
It's intriguing, enjoyably dark. Short through and predictable , good for a loading screen for sure. It beckons me to hear more and I wish there was. It's a tease. We will just have to wait.
I agree with Jackdaw: nothing against Trevor Morris at all; his work on DA:I was phenomenal. But if you have a chance to get Hans Zimmer, you go for it. Gladiator, Dune, Sherlock Holmes, Interstellar, the Batman trilogy-epic soundtracks one and all. The only man I would choose above Zimmer to do any type of soundtrack is the GOAT: John Williams. Barring that, you go with a close second: Hans Zimmer.
I don't care what anyone says I'm soooooo excited for this game!!! I understand what's going on at Bioware isn't ideal but it shouldn't' detract from how good this game can be. Also for everyone that's wishing/hoping this is the last Dragon age just bc some of the creators and older people involved are no longer there or working on the game shame on you i don't ever want this series to end, this series has pulled me out of a lot of dark places in my life and i will always be rooting for the teams that work on this title. Also that doesn't mean I'm not rooting for or supporting the older devs/workers, I'm just not going to let it sour my openness to this game being awesome and continuing on even after dread wolf!!
I want the game to be good, too, I just wish Bioware gave us more to get excited over, like an actual trailer. GTA 6 is likey gonna get a trailer before Dragon Age 4. But, I do still want to play this game, whenever they do release it.
I don't think it's a theme from the beginning of the game or the menu, because no matter how you look at it, the coda is the ending of the song. A coda is a rather short ornament, a few chords, or a slightly longer fragment, sometimes maintained at an increasing tempo and with unusual dynamics. The coda, often using the main motif of the rest of the song, is intended to be its summary and closure. Tinfoil: I think this might be the ending theme of the last song during the last scene. This mysteriousness may mean that we only apparently "defeated" Solas in battle or "convinced" him to change his behavior (depending on his choices). This would of course mean some cliffhanger for DA5 (I want the fifth game too!) Another idea is that it is a fragment of the track ending a certain chapter in the game (but not the last one), in which Solas defeats us (something like Shepard's defeat in one of the ME missions)... I missed the motive of defeat in previous DA games, and this one with DAI, where theoretically we only close the Breach and theoretically only Corypheus is defeated and then reborn, they were quite "flat". It would be nice to experience a few defeats... and then turn the tables.
Koda evokes more of a feeling of a bear, though. Is there a elven figure that took on the feel and shape of a bear quite often? I'll have to explore the lore a bit, maybe look at some of the short stories that were released in Tevinter Nights. But a bear that goes up against the wolf would be ... interesting. Edit: Dirthamen loved the bear and gave them special gifts, that unlike other beasts he allowed them to keep. He admired their steadfastness.
Hans Zimmer is excitement by itself much like Dorian being a scene without a performance. Lorne Balfe is icing due to his work on the ongoing Amazon rendition of Wheel of Time soundtrack.
Oh my good gawd….I just had a thought! What if this was at the end. After all the battles, after what ever happens with Solas….After the credits roll…….. the Evanuris wake up….hinting at DA5?!?

My hopes for this game are already dead. I really want DA:DW to be a success but with so many delays, actors, important characters not returning, the change of composer and all the layoffs and abandonments that there have been at BioWare... I don't know. I find it very difficult for them to release a product similar to Inquisition.
