@@JamesTravis I passed this morning!!!! Thank you so much for all your videos you have no idea how much they've helped me especially as I've never had a professional lesson my dad just taught me!! :))
Judgement of how wide from the kerb one is becomes easier the higher your eyes are and raising the driving seat will help many. When sighting the nearside using stickers etc. or nearside mirrors the car needs to be parallel with the kerb. i.e. sticker not moving across as you take a measurement same with mirror. Mirror can only be used when parallel as it is looking behind. If your measuring system is not moving across you are parallel then assess. Shallow approach needed as if you come in very steep it wont work effectively.
My test is a week on Tuesday any advise to revise on the Highway Code I know speed limits on carriageways busy roads is it always 20mph on side roads and is it only 20 when there’s speed humps thanks love the videos
Read and understand road signs. When entering a village or built up area you will tend to get a speed limit change, look ahead to spot them. Most built up areas are 30 unless it says different
are you supposed to kind of 'coast' (foot on clutch) when pulling up at the side of the road? Or keep shifting down the gears? Say you're in 3rd gear and you're asked to pull up to the side of the road. What the correct sequence?
Failed my test today . Examiner comes to vehicle 3-4 minutes earlier and I was at washroom that time. My instructor told it's allowed to be inside test center 5 minutes before only. We are on time and I was optimistic to be back in time . So when I came back examiner is kind of waiting for me. Then he checked all documents and asked me to start the car. I was driving on a Honda jazz with a push start button . I was not aware that the key should be Inside the car to get it work in that way . Sadly this time my instructor kept the key inside his pocket as he was doing the sanitisation of car when the examiner approached and asked my name and when I came back from washroom my instructor missed to hand over key to me. Short story car not starting and I don't know what is wrong and finally I requested examiner can I call my trainer. He was bit hesitated and agreed with a kind of expression that I can't explain. The examiner was very rude and never uttered a word to me. Then the test started I was very nervous by this time and first he requested me to do a reverse bay parking inside test center. I completed that correctly and then we went to the most difficult route and 70 percent time I was driving through narrow roads with parked cars on left side. I did only one round about in entire test. I was requested to do an emergency stop and couple of occasions pull left and emerge . My test lasted for 45 minutes and finally result was I Failed Your serious faults Judgement - Meeting Your driving faults Progress - Undue hesitation, 3 Control - Steering, 2 Junctions - Observation, 2 Judgement - Crossing, 1 Control - Parking brake, 1 Junctions - Approach speed, 1 Use of mirrors - Change speed, 1 Progress - Appropriate speed, 1 Reason is Judgement meeting . Examiner explained like I was moving slightly to the other side of the road when meeting traffic coming from ahead on roads with parked cars on left. As a result cars coming from other side slowed down for me couple of occasions. He was saying either I should wait or should keep more close to the parked cars on left slowly while moving ahead, so cars from opposite side can also drive through. After end of the test myself and instructor covered the same route and my instructor was amazed to see the roads that I took during the very last part of the test. It is such a narrow road inside a residential street and my instructor told no one in past took this route as far as he knows. Any suggestions or thought on this .Does my initial impression to examiner had any impact on this result? Expecting a reply
Thank you for your comment, I have a few thoughts on this. 1. I am a little surprised your driving instructor kept the key for starting the car whilst at the test centre, from the minute you arrive in the test centre and stop, the keys should be in your pocket. Unfortunately the driving test examiner will get a bit annoyed having to wait and then the mistake with your instructor keeping the keys, this would of annoyed the examiner even more, because they are on a tight time line of completing the driving test and getting ready for the next one. 2. Your driving instructor should of pre pared you for the narrow roads, especially if there are any within a mile of the driving test centre, so I am surprised your instructor did not know and was surprised. 3. Looking at your driving test result, I don't think the examiner would of been looking to fail you because of having to wait for you. But I do think you were affected(put off) by the examiner turning up early and then your instructor having the car keys, putting lots of undue pressure on you at the start. The feedback your examiner gave you was interesting. Maybe the serious happened on that one stretch of road where the cars had to slow down for you on a couple of occasions. I would pay attention to meeting oncoming cars, work on it more. Also undue hesitation(one more and it would be a serious fault), this could be you feeling the pressure at the start, but would need more work. Junctions is always in the top two reasons why people fail tests, so work more on the observations. Steering, this could be you letting the wheel spin in your hands or letting the car drift coming out of turns.

It is only meant to help students who are struggling in the first 10 hours of driving lessons. After that point you should be good at stopping next to kerb.
My 2nd daughter passed her test also 1st time today thanks to your fab videos Travis. Very benevolent of you - thank you sincerely
Thats great news, pass on my congratulations. Thank you all for watching.
I have been using my wipers as a guide, but if/when we get a new car, this tip will come in handy 👍
Yes wipers is a good one. Safe driving
Really helped this, I always struggled and still do to a point parking at the side of the road without hitting the Kerb. 😊
I am hoping it helps someone who is struggling.
My driving test is on Wednesday and I've been struggling with this so this is amazing, thank you!
Thank you and good luck

Excellent tips! Cue everyone bringing sellotape on lessons 😂
Yes
excellent tip with the sticker, i got taught to use the (a) notch on my wiper blade as a guide.
I use that as well.

Safe travels
I don’t struggle with getting a good distance to the curb. The hardest part for me is picking an appropriate spot, slowing down and aiming for it.
You need to practice looking ahead more.
Very nice helpful video Big Thanks for sharing sir.
Thank you for watching
Very clever ! Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
This video is really good. But the problem I have is that my driving instructor doesn't use stickers for parking or any of the manoevere's!
I only use a sticker if the student is struggling to park at kerb.

Yes you can keep in the gear you are in and lower the clutch on approach
Nice one 👍

Happy to hear
Travis, am i too old to learn to drive at 58, think i might be in fairness ?
Never too old. If you are willing to learn, then go for it.
Is it a fail if too close/far away or fail if not straight or do we just get minors?
If you mount kerb with front wheel, then a serious. If you park very wide on a busy or narrow road, then that could become a serious.
It's wrong sorry to put sticker there will not help specially day of test there is satnav where you put it
