- This is a 100V hedge trimmer from Japan, made by Ryobi. It is hard to work with electric source. I modified its motor from AC to DC by rewinding the armature and replace the field by permanent magnet. It powered by 18V Makita lithium battery. I use this tool to trim the garden at the end of this video.

13:39 set the rulers at a 45 degree angle to present a blade like edge to the shaft. Also, if you wanna make fine adjustments, but not upset the whole affair (waste less time in setup) you can put screws from under in the wood, as you adjust them, you just thread them in more, thus raising the blades. Source: it's in one of the Popular Mechanics magazines from back in the day.

What country are you uploading videos from?
The garden clippers and power screwdrivers being repaired are Japanese specifications.
To be honest, this garden clipper is not worth repairing in Japan.
It would be nice if it were new, but it's quite an old model, and in Japan it's the kind of thing that would be thrown away at a scrap metal yard because it would be cheaper to buy it, but it has been carefully repaired.

How do you figure out how to rewind the motor for a different voltage
The same question in my mind
He said in other videos, in comments, that he uses reference from DC motors with the same size, so he can count the turns and measure the wire gauge. But I bet there was some trial and error in the past.
