I really hope you get more attention and get to participate in more videogames like you did here. I came from playing games like the Misterious trilogy of the Atelier series but I can really say that I won't be forgetting this game's music...And I played it on release
Potionomics has my favourite game music of all time, as a musician I absolutely adore what I heard the first time playing the game and it makes me wish I could compose just like that
This game is such an incredible combination of every department excelling so well and uniting with a single vision. From the art, animation, writing, the new voice acting, great gameplay and of course the S tier music that still is a bop. Thank you for your work in this game and the new additions, especially hearing a certain someone actually start to sing made me weirdly emotional and excited lol. It really was special and reminded me why I loved this game and just this whole world that was brought to light through the visuals, writing and the amazing and diverse soundtrack. Its one thing to have a good all around OST, but another for it to be so good but also each track all adding to a character's vibe, setting a mood, or just expressing the vibe of Rafta itself. I hope more people come to find and appreciation this game and the work of all the artists who made this game into something really special.
Amazing insight ! I absolutely love the soundtrack and how diverse it is, it's awesome to hear the thought process directly from the composer. Also huge kudos for giving credit to all the musicians !
This is a really nice BTS, Greg. It really clearly highlights the diversity of genre that you recorded for this, and gives a great glimpse into your inspiration behind each track. Well done!!
@@FilmCompos3r Absolutely! Your soundtrack to Potionomics stands out as a gem in the rough - not many indie projects invest in their score to this degree! And not many composers could pull it off either.
Hello Greg you didnt mention it but in the boss finn vs sylvia theme, at around 20 seconds there is a sort of synthetic noise, and to me it sounds like a shark circling around it's prey ! Very cool !
Good ears! That quirky synth arp is actually embedded in most of the battle tracks. One of the little ways I tried to find cohesion in the soundtrack, especially considering how many genres I touch on.
I did notice that synth sound in the boss themes, but it only appears in the first three. I didn't hear it in Anubia's or Robin (Maven)'s boss themes. I like to think it represents Sylvia fighting back, which becomes harder and harder as the competition goes on, up to the point where the music itself tries to tell you you have no more chance...
An amazing soundtrack for an amazing game, it's just one banger after another, also I'm pretty sure Salt & Pepper's theme will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life lol
I can't gush enough about the soundtrack for this game. This more than anything else I've played made me really want to pay attention to composers for soundtracks of games, and I'm really glad to hear you talk about music on your channel!
Wow! I'm so glad to hear that. Game music has come such a long way and there are so many talented composers working in the medium. Be sure to check out composers like Austin Wintory, Olivier Derivière, Lena Raine, Gareth Coker. And for this game I was highly influenced by Japanese composers such as Joe Hisaishi and Nobuo Uematsu.

Thanks so much! And I wish you well on your composer journey. Believe me when I tell you I had to come a LONG way before I could do this.
Loved the OST and have had it regularly mixed in with my playlists over the past 2 years! Wonderful work!

Sylvia's shop is my happy work day go-to song 🥰
Hah! You know I wish I could experience it that way too - harder when one writes it - but that's totally what I hoped people would feel.
Luna’s theme is amazing. I think its the only song Ive heard where listening to the intro actually gave me ASMR.
