I think Supro has a winner here. It looks great and sounds like a real contender to the Fender clean tone without the high sparkle. As a clean platform, it's superb for all the pedal we own. It should last decades with care and will likely remain sought after.
I own a 1965 Supro Thunderbolt, 1 Volume, 1 Tone and run a Reverb pedal into my 15" Speaker and Love it, plus it has a Unique History as it was a USO Amp that Toured Vietnam
Sounds great, I dig a single channel amp as a pedal platform. I personally like the look, I have never had a 5881 amp. Not a bad price point, wish it was tube rectified. Cool amp!
I have been biased towards Supro -Keeley for some time but this Amp. is the one. Sweet tone, lush reverb and pedal perfect. Thanks for the great quality review.
Sounded perfect for that late night playing at a smoky club. very nostalgic. Thanks Darrel. enjoyable content with good info. Your playing is smooth and melodic. Thanks again.
I have a 1967 Marshall 8 x12 Plexi that sounds pretty good . But this amp blows it away . I can’t believe the sound , I mean the tones are great . Thanks for turning me on to the tones . They’re superb . Once again thanks Darrell your a peach ?
Killer amp. I used to own a 59 Bassman reissue, 40, maybe 45 watts and it was loud as hell. So this amp is clearly for gigging musicians. Way more amp than I'll ever need, but very cool.
my dad, a guitarist and teacher during the 1960s, bought a used original Supro for $50 (!) and used it to use it to give lessons…needless to say, once I used it to jam with my high school band, dad never got it back…I think it was 40 watts and was the classic model Jimmy Page used on the first couple Led Zep albums; I didn’t know anything about them at the time other than it sounded incredible; it was my #1 amp until it literally blew up onstage in 1981…and an odd side note…the pilot light must have had some sort of gas in it because it stayed lit for awhile after you turned it off…still glowing as you walked it out to the car
I began playing in the 60's. $50 then was equivalent to $479.25 in todays' dollars. Minimum wage was $1 an hour so that $50 Supro was about a weeks pay.
Good job bon the review Don’t know how realistic it is for people these days to use a 50-watt tube amp to its fullest potential when they often use attenuators captor x etc etc which essentially removes the insane volume of 50-watts lol
they've been knocking it out of the ball park for the last few years with options on small amps that larger amps don't even come with and----they are made in AMERICA!!!
An amp tech I utilized did a demo on a 59 Supro Coronado that he had for me. Holy exact Page Zeppelin 1 tones! He also went on to say that modern Supro circuits have zero in common with the 59 one
I'm really curious about hearing from someone how they compare to the older Saturn and Neptune. I had a Saturn with the BD12 and it was very boomy. Some say it was their circuitry, some said it was the BD12. Had to play with bass at 0 very often to get some clarity, and it was worse with humbuckers. Too bad because the mids and treble were lovely.
Just needed your opinion on a Tele neck. What's wrong with a Walnut, Mahogany or Koa neck and a flame maple fretboard on a Tele? I noticed you had put one on one of your Tele builds. I like it alot, but people tell me no, I shouldn't do that. I have a 2006 Fender Tele with koa top, back is Alder. Please put something out there for people like me. By the way, all your videos are very informative and educational. Enjoy watching them.
I get the feeling that you liked the amp but weren't particularly effusive about it. Still, it seems very much in line with what Supro has made in the past. They seem particularly constrained with recapturing some sort of ethereal 50s magic. There's a place for that, but it seems like Supro has already achieved that with some of their Legacy models. The Royale seems like a rehash of what they've already done. It's about time to stretch things a bit, maybe in the direction they were going with the Galaxy or Statesman but in more modern formats, or else in lower wattage packaging.
Looks good but it seems like there’s only two reviews on Reverb. One person wrote a very detailed review and apparently had a fair bunch of issues with several of these amps. Any idea why he might have experienced that? Was it a QC problem or did he not know how to work it properly?
This was a very interesting video. I am in the market for such a product right now and this could be an interesting one to test out. Have you looked into nutube amps in any video?
I have this amp, so far it’s pretty great! Two lil’ things they should change. The knobs suck! It’s pretty hard to see where they are set at. The text on the amp is upside down. It should be readable from in front of the amp. Other It’s loud, clean and pretty !
I really dig the look with the cream color face. IMO the Tolex has more character than the solid color found everywhere else. But, different strokes for different folk holds true here as well.
As usual you do Canada proud as the best guitar channel on the internet. I would say that removing the word “guys” from your vocabulary on screen would make a big difference in your presentation. This is my area of expertise. For instance, if we’re to say “You guys are welcome on my channel.” The word “guys” is entirely extraneous and, to be fair, is only speaking to males technically. So, in short, by deleting one small word the quality of the presentation is greatly increased. I would say polished. Great job friend. Good luck.
Before I would say the amp is overpriced, I would look at what's inside. Maybe the money went to using better output transformers, or power supply, or resistors, etc... Not all parts are created equal. You can buy a resistor for a few cents, or you can get a high end one for $5 to $10.
Kinda fell in love with this one! Great tones and great looks! Enjoy :)
I'd like to hear a hot humbucker with a Big Muff pedal and a wah through this amp.
I must say that amp sounds bloody incredible! Oh man those tones! What a great sound, and you demoed it really well!
It's GREAT clean! DIDN'T think MUCH of it overdriven! Too ratty sounding! STICK to od pedals!
Is Supro working in a new guitar run? Supro Tube Amps are great, what about their solid body guitar?
Everything sounded great. Went over to Sweetwater and couple people wrote some ugly reviews. I don't get it.
I think Supro has a winner here. It looks great and sounds like a real contender to the Fender clean tone without the high sparkle. As a clean platform, it's superb for all the pedal we own. It should last decades with care and will likely remain sought after.
I tried a Supro, one of the best sounding amp I have ever heard.
I own a 1965 Supro Thunderbolt, 1 Volume, 1 Tone and run a Reverb pedal into my 15" Speaker and Love it, plus it has a Unique History as it was a USO Amp that Toured Vietnam
I had the Thunderbolt by Supro. It was great. I'm glad to see you found your way to this classic vintage vibe!
Sounds great, I dig a single channel amp as a pedal platform. I personally like the look, I have never had a 5881 amp. Not a bad price point, wish it was tube rectified. Cool amp!
Great sounding amp and you did a great job demoing the amp!
Thanks Darrell. I always enjoy your reviews. Just love that amp.
They usually have two great sounds in them, clean & vintage distortion. When you want those tones these are 👍
I have been biased towards Supro -Keeley for some time but this Amp. is the one. Sweet tone, lush reverb and pedal perfect. Thanks for the great quality review.
Looks like a picture frame with a handle on top!
And the Wind Cries Mary. Dig the amp.
Darrell, watching your face when you cranked the amp!! Yup, looks like you dig it.
Darrell Braun Rocks the House!!!
Great tone out of that thing.
Sounded perfect for that late night playing at a smoky club. very nostalgic. Thanks Darrel. enjoyable content with good info. Your playing is smooth and melodic. Thanks again.

Love the look and ofcourse the sound
It's so versatile. It's the sound I love.
Great demo.
Great video, love the double barrel pedal for single coils
Yes cant wait to get this amp.
Killer amp. I used to own a 59 Bassman reissue, 40, maybe 45 watts and it was loud as hell. So this amp is clearly for gigging musicians. Way more amp than I'll ever need, but very cool.
Thanks for sharing. Stay safe and be blessed
well done, I always respect your opinion on these amps
my dad, a guitarist and teacher during the 1960s, bought a used original Supro for $50 (!) and used it to use it to give lessons…needless to say, once I used it to jam with my high school band, dad never got it back…I think it was 40 watts and was the classic model Jimmy Page used on the first couple Led Zep albums; I didn’t know anything about them at the time other than it sounded incredible; it was my #1 amp until it literally blew up onstage in 1981…and an odd side note…the pilot light must have had some sort of gas in it because it stayed lit for awhile after you turned it off…still glowing as you walked it out to the car

About the best amp I've heard, honestly!! Peace brother
Two bad reviews on Sweetwater, might be a different one but not encouraging.
Your review is great.
Those are some tasty tones. I’m going to check out their site. Thanks.
Who needs peddles with this one. Supro always this good.
Good job bon the review
Don’t know how realistic it is for people these days to use a 50-watt tube amp to its fullest potential when they often use attenuators captor x etc etc which essentially removes the insane volume of 50-watts lol
Yeah, Supro needs to branch out a bit in the 10-25w range beyond the Keeley and Black Magick.
they've been knocking it out of the ball park for the last few years with options on small amps that larger amps don't even come with and----they are made in AMERICA!!!
That's my kind of amp, love it!
This guy can sell ice to an Eskimo
Sounds very nice love the looks also
I have their 64 Reverb on order. Can’t wait!
Love it. Your always the best
Sounds beautiful
Your awesome. My go toooo guy for gear testing and opinion. Did the amp. Lack performance at lower volume?
Please try out barefaced audio guitar cabinets. Thank you.
Nice review.
love the off set speaker on this amp.
Sounds just like my Blackstar Venue Club 40. very nice sounding amp
@textontelegamVisual_Politik1 fack off scammer
Royale with Cheese!
An amp tech I utilized did a demo on a 59 Supro Coronado that he had for me. Holy exact Page Zeppelin 1 tones! He also went on to say that modern Supro circuits have zero in common with the 59 one
Saving up for a Royale.
Nice. Love the vibe, but I already have 3 amps. Truly don't need / want another one.
Kinda thought in the thumbnail you were holding a whiteboard made by Supro
That breakup is outstanding, lovely crunch!

Hi Darrell, is the the Reverb a spring unit? 😎👍🇨🇦
Lovely amp
Well done
great amps and brand.
Please demo barefaced audio guitar cabinets. Please. Please. Please.
5:30-5:38 🎶 Mr. Banker🎶
Strat switched to neck PU played over a clean set tube amp, it can't get better than that.
Wirklich schöner Amp👍👍👍
I sure would have like to see the back off that Jewel. It’s always nice to see behind the certain.

Yeah for free it would be a nice amp.
Surfer 🏄 tone
This was a very interesting video. I am in the market for such a product right now and this could be an interesting one to test out. Have you looked into nutube amps in any video?
DARRELL please reply. Is this a give away?
Winner!
Ah finally someone beats fender amps
Is that the player plus strat looks awesome
I wondered have you ever tested a lyxpro telecaster model they're really cheap just wondering?
The distortion sounds kind of buzzy to me. The cleans sound good but not as nice as a Fender tube amp.
Felt like that too. Only good for cleans by itself :/
That's what supro's sound like. Buzzy fuzzy moofed breakup lol.
Like Marshalls, the distortion fits a certain style. The Supro has a more distinct sound, but EQ can work to shape the sound.
I have this amp, so far it’s pretty great!
Two lil’ things they should change. The knobs suck! It’s pretty hard to see where they are set at. The text on the amp is upside down. It should be readable from in front of the amp.
Other It’s loud, clean and pretty !
The text is one of those historic things they'll probably never change
@@GoblinWar Yeah, I know. Doesn't mean I like it though!
One question, do you prefer this Supro or the Fender Supersonic 22? Thank you.
Are you still on Patrion I signed up to support your channel and you haven’t posted anything since 2020 should I cancel or what?
I liked it, but I would really like if you hade made a 1 minute test as you do with guitars, to listen it in action.
In France 🇫🇷..its called a Big Mac with cheese
for the old ppl like us Darrell!! lol
Not a Royale With Cheese but a Royale With Tubes.
methinks Darrell is a Rush fan
What is your Fender ? American select hss ?
Thinking about getting the 2x12 of either this or the 2x12 alnico blue VOX...any advice guys?
Why do amp manufacturers design a boutique , all tube, superpricey combo and then put the chassis printing UPSIDE DOWN when facing the user?
I'm sold. Now I need to figure out which kidney I don't need. Thanks.
Makes my Fender Hotrod Deluxe look like a bargain.
Lol
Lol
Royale with cheese.
Not liking the look, but the sound, well sounds phenomenal!
I really dig the look with the cream color face. IMO the Tolex has more character than the solid color found everywhere else. But, different strokes for different folk holds true here as well.
like all your vids thanks

Sounds amazing through my tinny laptop speakers 😉
Going to your box I think changes the tone Just a mic in front It sounds very dull with your routing
Maybe I missed it but I didn't get what kind of tubes it uses!
Fee Wabill and Roger Steen for The Tubes.
The size vs. the sound
Reminds me of a cracked speaker when you go dirty..
How does this sound compared to the Supro Galaxy 50w combo?
totally clean??? yet verb and or delay???
mic placement?
Ummm...where do I get replacement tubes? Asking for a friend.
@parallax3d selling them and having them in stock are 2 different things. Try to find a tube in stock...go ahead, I'll wait.
Is the reverb spring type?
Yep - click on the link to the Sweatwater description website.
What would be the equivalent in a 15 to 20 watt version?
Delta king
It’s a royale with cheese
Sounds great but too expensive for no overdrive/2nd channel.
Before I would say the amp is overpriced, I would look at what's inside. Maybe the money went to using better output transformers, or power supply, or resistors, etc... Not all parts are created equal. You can buy a resistor for a few cents, or you can get a high end one for $5 to $10.
Someone’s running a scam in your name Darrel. Just got a email, didn’t open it. Thanks
Fender has cut their tube amp production in half and plans more cuts. I wonder why???/ (hint - no tubes).
Tuby goodness lol
