Such a great show, and the writers were smart to make it more and more about the Smiths as the series progressed. Episode 5 of season 4 in which John sees the other version of his life in 1960s America made me cry so hard. I was literally sobbing.
Amazing video!!! What a tragic end to a good show. I did want to see John and Helen Smith change or go into the other world. But I guess it makes sense. I do think the greatest character was John Smith with his burden of no being able to stop his Son’s death, his friend’s death, and keeping within the Nazi structure, and even knowing his life would be better in the other world. Also poor Helen, who began to realise Nazism brings out the worst out of good people, and Will cost you everything.
His ending was perfect. The ending was perfect. All the people coming through the portal are us. We watched 4 seasons of a world rules by the Nazis, even when it terrified us. John got to see glimpses of what could have been. But ultimately, he is and always will be trapped. It’s like a reverse Plato’s cave; he can look outside the cave, but can never leave.
@@Sethsters fantastic interpretation. I’ve rationalised that they only talk of two realties when all that mentioned the multiverse meant there were countless. There would be many John smiths in the high castle world.
@@mari-gu9li I hoped for his redemption until 4x09... the man who would have been was still there deep inside, but he didn't know how to change the situation... when Helen found the file about concentration camp, I knew it was over 😭 but I think they could have saved him... he would have restored us, like they showed in the very final moments ... imagine how great would have been the scene of him taking off the insignia from his arm and the nazi cross like the other soldier does...

He deserved another ending...

Seth Sters omg finally I found someone with rational thoughts about the ending😭😍

The Smith deserved better💔
Claudia Picariello Oh I agree with you..
I agree they were the best characters in the whole show. But he deserved to die... There was no redemption for his sins.
