Cardboard makes a great (and free!) weed barrier. When I first had the grass removed from the front of my house I tried some purchased weed barrier and in my opinion it was useless. When I got the tip about cardboard, Ii was able to get good-sized clean boxes from a nearby store, and voila! It is topped with small rock and birds can drop seeds of things, but if anything comes up it's easy to get rid of it right away.
That’s a great idea. I don’t know why I didn’t do a barrier of some kind. Now I deal with pulling weeds. 😂 lol! Not fun but it is relaxing when I’m doing it. Xoxo
The succulents and cacti all look beautiful. You're not the only one who has to get started working with plants again. Everytime I think I'm gonna repot mine it rains or the temperature is too cold so I'm still waiting til it's warmed up some.
So fun to see all the different kinds of cactus & succulents in your gardens. That good ol CA sun makes those colors pop! Glad you guys are getting some rain. I’ve been working in my backyard making some changes, doing some hardscaping, adding compost to garden beds, starting seed here in central GA. It’s been so warm for the past 2 weeks but we all know here not to expect it to stay that way for much longer. There is going to be a couple more cold snaps before we can plant flowers or veggies in the ground & Im cool with that. There is plenty to do in the meantime. Hugs to you from GA
Oh how exciting that you’ve been able to get into your gardening. As soon as the rain stops I’m going to hit the ground running in my succulent garden. I have so much to do but to little time to get it all done. Thanks for the motivation and for your support. I appreciate your time. I wish I could see your backyard! ❤

I want a succulent + tropical garden. Not sure if they'll survive Maryland snow.
