Don't get a phyllostachys nigra. They are flowering at the moment and will die soon so wait and get the new seedlings when they are available. They're pretty invasive too, so take precautions.
Ahh..is that why they were so tall then? Yeah I'd only put bamboo in a pot/planter anyway do don't expect they'd get that big that way
