He states in Mat 10:28 (NIV) *"Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. "* The Lord is talking about not be afraid of people who can kill you physically and denotes to instead fear God.

But man had better be afraid of the Lord God because only God has the power to kick your butt right here on earth, as well as after death. It says so in the Scriptures. God gave life and God can take it away, or restore it. So yes, fear the Lord God. Have a healthy fear of God. But know that he truly does love those who are righteous

You absolutely should have real FEAR of God. Because you and everyone else has done wrong and God is the one who repays. Yes the wages of sin is death but he is the one paying us our wages and we all deserve death. When people encounter God, they fall on the ground like a dead person. This is actual fear. God loves us all but he is a good judge and he will repay us all for all that we have done. The only way to escape this wrath through Jesus. Believing in Jesus DOES mean loving a changed life repenting from our old ways of serving ourselves and serving God and others like Jesus. Believing is Jesus DOESN’T mean: believing that Jesus existed. The Bible says that “even the demons believe this and tremble.” If you only ”believe in him” but you don’t obey him then Jesus calls you a liar and says the truth is not in you. @Earth Angel I think he talks more about giving up everything that make us be far from God, such as laziness, jealousy, and maybe things that we do but we shouldn't, like wasting our time or spend more time and passion with something (that can be your work, how much money you get...) more than God, because we have to give yourselves to God, and not to those earthly things. In a way or another we have to survive, and we can't give up our job.

As in garden of Eden, I would ask Mr. Wagner, Who told you the Fear of God just means Respect? The Holy Bible certainly did not. If he had read the Bible he would know that Respect or Reverence is Not for God. It is out of order. Respect and Reverence is for the priest or elders. Fear is for God. Satan's oldest trick is to entice humans into their reasoning capacity. He can then trick them to reject a clear command of God. If he had any idea of what the purpose of the Fear of God is, Mr. Wagner would know that Respect doesn't work. That's why satan promotes this perversion of scripture. But this is no surprise, about 95% of preachers do the same thing, softening the scripture to keep people in the pew. And the whole lot of them end up in hell for eternity. Hint: An intense Fear of God is the only thing that will cause you to reject your own thoughts and feelings and choose Scripture instead. Respect, Reverence don't do that. Satan cannot countenance you turning to scripture continually. That's why he doesn't want you to fear God. So Fear of God operates as a barrier against satan's infiltration into the human mind. If your god is all loving and merciful, why fear him at all? Sounds like encouraging an abusive relationship if you ask me.
