As a part long term pre-war Rolls car owner Paul, it is nice to see ' pre -war ' quality detail still going through to the Silver Spirit with the lovely sump plug which is similar to our 96 year old Phantom 1 !.It is great to see this much neglected example receiving the care in your hands it richly deserves and I'm sure will return in the pleasure of ownership.

Love to see a quality machine rescued from neglect. Looks like this Rolls Royce has fallen on its …er…wheels. Good episode, cheers

Great video Paul. I think you'll find that a wiper blade with a spoiler as fitted to the o/s should be on the bottom.

A little tip for you do not take the nut off full on the wiper arm just loosen it about halfway and that way when you put the tool on, it will not slip off when you put it under pressure

@@life_on_cars this is what I had to do on my E36 M3 as they would not budge and kept slipping off, I’ve got exactly the same tool

Excellent methodical approach to this resurrection, a little thing I do is spray new ( & old ) wiper blades with ptfe, it stops some of that judder on drying windscreens !

Hi Paul, another great episode. I’d have been tempted to pour a load of water into those scuttles to check that it drained away freely.

I was enthralled with the sheer theatre of opening up and cleaning out the cowl and replacing the wipers. All the parts looked to be of a standard higher that the kit one finds nowadays. That HAD to be satisfying.
That old oil looked rubbish, didn't it? Well...that's sorted. Looking forward to the next items on your punch list! Aloha!

Hi Paul, great to see the oil been done. I've been with you from the start and today I thought the background music was not necessary, much prefer to hear you commenting as you go. Anyway its good to have some warm weather to get stuff done! 🙂

I owned one of these for a year, bought as a nearly non runner. The more you take apart the more little gems, like the sump plug you'll find. If your electric window stops working you'll be in for a treat! Nice series.

Excellent content as always, Paul. These videos truly inspire a DIY attitude to so many car jobs that would otherwise end up as expensive professional garage repairs. What really helps is the level of detail shown at each step, right down to spanner sizes and, in this video, that important tip about the left hand thread of the left side wheel nuts.👍

Fantastic attention to detail. You know what...my old man owned a 1992 Bentley from 2004 to earlier this year, and I don't ever recall these filter covers coming off and getting cleaned?

Debris in the bulkhead area of any car is always a problem. I've had to do this job on many cars, some of them have come to me with gallons of water sloshing around in that area, unable to drain away, and on more modern stuff running the risk of drowning ECU's. I understand that most manufacturers don't even have 'cleaning out the bulkhead drainage' as part of their service schedules! It really does need to be though..

buy a white marker pen and put the date of oil change on the filter, you can lose paper with date on if there is any but if the date is on the filter it will be there.
