I'm American, and I don't speak a word of Arabic... but I absolutely viscerally KNOW her voice. It would kill you with laughter to hear me singing along with the whole "Fakarouni" album, without any idea of what I'm saying. Just so evocative, such an angel, such an artist.
Oh, so you stumbled on my favorite song (Fakkarouni) of her. Lyrics and music are unbelievable.
Dear Koret, if you need to know anything regarding the sone, I’ll be happy to.
Love this 😊❤
I'm Indonesian and I was born in 1985, but her songs reminds me of my childhood when my dad always listening to her records..
@Alfred Einstein R u kidding me ?! Then why so many naats, nasheeds,hamds,kalaams,qawwalis ?!...
Only songs with haram contents like that which promotes alcoholism, objectification,drugs,etc...
Many western songs, rap songs fall into that category and those are indeed haram for Muslims...
I am from Somalia and still listening to her! My dad who was educated in Egypt listened to her. And I got hooked too!
I am Turkish and I just discovered her recently. I have fascinated by her angelic voice. But I am glad to find this video now. And it's an honor to watch video that our main broadcast channel has prepared about her
She is not only for Arab she is for all universe

I'm a Filipino, born 8 years after her death. Listing to her songs for the first time I so was amazed how she sings .
In south of Iran everybody loves her
LOVE AND RESPECT FROM LONDON ENGLAND . MASHALLAH
It s amazing to have this feeling of nostalgia for something that you never actually experienced. This voice, these melodies, and few of the lyrics I understand resonate with me and my past even though it was not culturally related to these sounds. ...as if I existed in another life somewhere in Egypt, before I was born in Greece in 1988!
10000% agree with you!
wow, i didnt know someone outside the arab culture can relate to her music. i am so flashed to hear
The girl with the hijab honestly described it accurately when she said shes my only friend at night but i have something to add though, to me her words made me feel like she understood why love is hard at times and how seeing a person you used to love can ignite that spark again but her songs that are about moving on because its better for you both to do so make me have goosebumps to this day. Im 24 and she died over 50 years ago and i still feel like she gets it. When something is that timeless then i feel like it has proven itself to be called a masterpiece.

a diehard fan of um kulthum from India.
My favorites inta omri, ana fintzarik, ghanili shuwayi, etc
Those were the golden times of Arabs especially Egyptions

35 years ago I used to live and work in Dubai, UAE for 5 years. We used to get work break between 1pm to 4pm. There was a radio station that used to play Umm Kulthum songs every day between 2pm and 3pm. I was hooked to that station and now 30 years later I listen to her songs almost daily. Her voice, composers, and musicians, all are remarkable. I am not an Arab by the way, but I have been learning Arabic ever since. May her soul rest in peace.
There are still huge fans of her in Turkey. We maybe don't understand what she's telling in her songs but we can feel her sadness very wel.
I am 16 and still listening
Who have been watching TRT World for more than a year?❤

People in the video and in the comments are making it about the memories, when its about her performance, uncomparable strong and deep voice, her outstanding vocal ability and the intricacy of the music and the lyrics. People were insane about her in her days already when she was a yong lady, not reminding them of anything. Don't reduce her beauty to memories, she is an iconic artist with a great uncomparable talent.
I'm from somalia and I love um kulthum❤

Blond haired, blue eyed American here. I grew up in Saudi in the 50’s and 60’s. Wandering the back streets there were two voices to be heard over the radio. One was Nasser (listen in secret at this time) and the other voice was Um Kulthum. To this very day I hear her voice and she is Mother Earth to me. I absolutely float away when listening to that amazing voice.
She is the best and greatest singer in history at the level of all human beings and has the strongest voice and sweetest voice
I love her songs, I don't understand Arabic however I appreciate her voice & music.
Haha I can help you with that
Um kalthum is the vocalist!!! probably one of the best or even the best vocalist to ever live . She is a constent in every arab or arab speaking country everyone knows her songs and evrery arab singer is inspired by her (wether he knows it or not😂) every run or riff that you hear in arabic music today she did it first.with her voice she united all the arab speaking people .we love and respect her deeply ,may god grant her peace and happiness as much as she brought and still bring to our hearts till this day .
I have been listening to her for about 65 years. Still I listen and enjoy. Thank you so much ❤️
Love Her / From Bosnia 🌟🤲❤️
3.17 Maria Kallas talking about Umm's voice being imcomparable, makes me think how humble she really was , since her own voice was incmoparable.

Her music not only remains time less but border less I don't have any connection with Egypt or Egyptians but I love her music and her poet Ahmed Ramni
I have never heard of this woman, but because her voice is so nice to hear and her songs are true to the heart as the presenters have said and explained about their families and countries, she will be one of my go to artists that I will reference for good wholesome music.
+al-Haifawi I am sure she is very well known abroad too being that many around the word adored her music but for me this is the first time I hear about her perhaps because I don’t listen to any Arabic musics... but her music is impacting and drives home the point of humanity and friendship as well as other things too.
Now after one year, could tell us more, please?

Probably one of my favourite artists of all time. Although I only speak a little arabic, her voice and the accompanying instrumentals carry the meaning with ease.

Some of the songs that foreigners listen to Umm Kulthum was at the age of 70, what do you think if they listen to her recordings when she is 50 or 40 years old, there are recordings that have a miracle sound that will not have a uniform no matter how advanced the ages Umm Kulthum is the fourth pyramid of Egypt 🇪🇬

I only discovered her last month, coming ftom another continent of course.
She is truly amazing and definitely she is my inspiration. At the moment I do a lot of belly dancing but also I am learning arabic slowly, as it is pretty difficult.
There are famous stories about how difficult it was to get a ticket to her concerts. So, thieves used to buy the tickets, and leave them at a random stranger's door. The stranger wouldn't believe his luck, and wouldn't miss the chance to attend her concert, giving the thieves an exact time and date of when the house they want to rob would be empty.
Didn't know she is the person behind the voice 😻🙏🕊️
We heard her as children and she was special
I don't wanna judge or anything but I feel like some Muslims are less religious than before not saying that any of these ppl are bad
@A Yna ik
Incomparable and unique

fun fact: In many of um kulthum's concerts (pre 67'), you can see a shining object on her chest. That is a massive diamond, after egypt lost the war , she sold the diamond to some royalty. Add that to her countless concerts in europe and the arab world. She didn't partially fund the military with the money she made, if it weren't for her the egyptian military would not exsist, her funding of the egyptian military was so crucial to the war effort .that if it had not happened, it would have had a massive effect on the arab republic of egypt to this day. Europeans were completely aware of where the money they gave her was going, but they could not resist not listening to her in their home countries. In russia, such things are called "the power of art"
It is narrated in an Authentic hadith that the Messenger of Allah pbuh said that the punishment of a person who listens to music will be molten iron poured into his or her ears (During Yaumul Qiyamah-the day of judgement)😫😫😫😫😫......May Allah Azzawajal save us from all punishments and grant us Jannatul Firdous......Allahumma Ameen🤲🤲🤲
@Firdaus Helmi Ohhh I didn't know but let me confirm with my Shaykh..........but all in all, music of nowadays have nothing but misguidance in them. Even nasheeds are corrupted. Tell me any music of this days that lacks musical instruments which was prohibited by Rasoolullah Aleyhi Salaatu Wasalaam. Personally I decided to quit music a month before Ramadhan 2020 Alhamdulillah. Quran is more beautiful and peaceful ( Checkout Shaykh Hassan Swaleh ....beautiful voice MashaAllah ).

Seems you didn't got the reason why Um Kulthoum's voice is so unique. Her voice range is hard to challenge. We tend to compare. But its really not fair to compare anyone to Um Kulthoum.
If they asked me, I would have said she is eternal because she performed the human different feelings beautifully and strongly like no one else did or will do. She make you see and touch the feeling in 3D way. Who ever did that before for humans feeling ( love, anger, missing, mourning, blaming, and leaving a relationship or get into a new Relationship.... Etc.. amazing

Beautiful voice
She's like Celia Cruz for us in Latin America
Years ago (approximately 1979), I asked an Egyptian friend, who would be considered the Barbra Streisand, of Egypt. And he said without hesitation, 'Umm Kulthum'.

To compare the 2 would be an insult to Om Kalthoum. There is NO comparison, they are not even in the same Galaxy.
I Am An Indian,
How Should I Try To Connect With Her Voice?
She is the nusrat fateh ali of the arab world. Ditto same cultural influence on subcontinent people. Nusrat for me was the same like ladies explained here, hate in teenage but it just hit me up once on a cab ride in my adulthood, always been a nusrat fan since.
I dont understand her words she speaks, but her voice has such a feeel omg its like the music syncs with how she sings rather than she syncing with the music.

These "Younger" people in the video don't understand the Depth of Om Kalthoum, her voice, the music (Real Arabic complex music, not like most of the Garbage most today's Arabic singers sing where they try to imitate the West). Listen to her pronunciation of the Arabic Grammer (if you understand Arabic), the Poetry in the words she sang. Om Kalthoum spent days on the correct pronunciation of the Words without the well known Egyptian accent. So she sang in proper Grammer Arabic. She moved people with her voice. It was said that Egypt lost the War because people were so drunk from her voice (They had to blame someone so instead of blaming the Useless leaders, blame Om Kalthoum). She also according to what I read, had an extra vocal cord in her throat. So normal microphones could not handle her voice & would blow up. They made special microphones for her & if you look, you will see that microphones are placed a bit far away from her. Kings and Presidents used to go to her Concerts. Artists like her & Abdelhalim are one of a kind.
What is haram is haram! Even if everyone is doing it and how she becomes a holy person?
Spreading something aesthetic and profoundly beautiful is not HARAM. On the contrary, she is only highlighting divinity.

It's not about cute or beautiful as in voice but rather the power to convey emotion through her voice and control it as well as her voice being powerful(when she would perform they would put the microphone 2~3 meters away since her voice is too strong and she would sing for more than 2 hours each song which is insane and she doesn't sound tired)

Hey there 👋
I sincerely ask the TRT team to try to edit their content and not include the music in the background, for it is haram and each time someone has access to it, you share the burden of sin and gain bad deeds as well. Of course, the same goes to anything haram, like a woman who’s uncovered being featured or anything else.
God bless you all, and may Allah give you success in doing what satisfies him, and in giving voices to the ones who can’t speak and for the unheard 🙏🏻
