UT engine (unreal) had an xm player integrated. I think they claimed that it was some sort of achievement, but it was the indie standard since 1987 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MOD_(file_format)
It was Cliff Bleszinski who insisted on putting tracker music to Unreal in the first place. Also all music was encoded ( files had the extension .UMX) you couldn't play them directly using a player like Fast Tracker 2 or Impulse Tracker.
