This was my first ever coastal trip in 2000. I learnt an important lesson on the way back: never leave if you're in doubt. Forecast in Conwy on the Saturday night was S 4-5. Sunday morning it was S 5-6 veering W 7 to gale 8 but I felt I had to get back for work so left and had a great sail until I passed the Dee estuary when it started to blow hard. Coastguard was on the radio asking if I was OK and New Brighton lifeboat came out to check on me. I've since crossed the Atlantic twice but the most frightened I've ever been in a boat was going through the Rock Channel in 3m waves with 1 meter under the keel in the troughs. Now I know when to pull a sickie.
Wow had some bad days at sea but not as bad as that, on the trip we are doing at the moment the worst has been by petterhead Scotland we had 3 meter but rolling form behind us so not to bad, thanks for watching ⛵
Great video I hope you guys cleaned of the hull while you were dried out. Seriously , hopefully you checked out the engine cooling water intake for growth in the thru hull fitting ! Nice looking boat thought , love that pilot house ,Cheers Warren
WOW... I started watching your vids about a year ago when Squires lady was in bad shape, i have to be honest i did not think you's would get her back in the water where she belongs. I have to take my hat of to you both, well done. xxx and lots of love xxx ( sorry i had not watched all this vid before i left this, i'am sure Squires lady will be back in the water in no time, i just got exited when i saw you out on the water.. love from walton l4)
Great video and very interesting for me, we are launching our boat Aurora on Tuesday from Blue point into the Marina. Our first sail will probably replicate this video! If you see us in the marina - come say hello.
My dad sailed past them lyvre birds on his way to sea and often wondered when he would see them again..I was nearly 3 when I first saw me dad.. My first trip on the water was the ferry to birkenead... Joined the Australian merch the day I turned 16 ar kid.. Me Dad was a Master for T J Harrisons.. 55 now and dads long gone but off to the US to buy a cat and cruise the caribean sea .. may be ill see you out there .. God Bless
Just Procrastinate fingers crossed we do get to meet out there one day but I have to finish my last 5 years in the navy before moving away hope you have fun
"We keep the port bouy on the port side and the starboard bouy on the starboard side"...What strange Brit sorcery you folks use on that side of the pond. We do it totally different here is the US!
Hi in the USA the 'red right returning' rule is the only the USA (as far as I know). Europe and the rest of the world use the 'red right wrong rule!' I guess the us just has to be different like its smaller gallon ( 128floz vs 160floz) and 1 million in USA is 1,000,000 where as its 1,000,000,000 in the rest of the world! Cheers warren
My sailer boy crossing Liverpool Mersey

Thank you
Awesome video mate
Thank you mate
What boat do you have? That sheltered cockpit looks great for when the weathers on the rough side.
Kyle McCann it's a marcon claymore 30
Cleaning that bottom of the boat could give you at least another knot of boat speed. I guarantee it!
Henry Morgan it's clean now and antifouling he thinks he's getting a extra 3 knts
Right on! More time to cruise!
Lovely video lad
Thanks mate
Very nice video :)
Tino G - Sailing thanks mate
