Eric Carmen is one of the most talented musicians and composers of our time. He is soulful and touches our hearts with is beautiful compositions. In the early 70's it was his music that inspired me to take piano lessons. Thank you Eric for the inspiration. Your music will go on for generations.

Beautifully written and performed. I can certainly relate to the lyrics, as anyone who has ever had their heart broken. The feeling did come back eventually and I now have the most amazing husband. Eric Carmen did an excellent job with this song. Very beautiful, and very passionate. As a listener, you always somehow believe that these songs played a part in their lives once upon a time, and it's kind of disappointing when it just isn't so. Eric Carmen was phenominal back then...
I remember dancing to this song with the one who got away. She lived in London and I was leaving to follow my career. It was so important to me and I wanted her to come with me. She turned me down a few days before I left for America and Los Angeles. Saw her last year and she is a mum and happy with her life. I left London and promised her Mum I would come back for Christmas this year. Her Mum passed last month and it was like losing my Mum and Dad all over again. Rest In Peace Mum luv u.

Whenever I felt down I would play this and it helped me through the hard parts. I am now happy and remember her with such warmth and fondness. The CD that contains this song was orginally only released in Japan, which I tried for many years to obtain, unsuccessfully. However, several years ago, while in Myrtle Beach, SC, I found this on CD, on the Geffen label. I doubt seriously if this CD is still in print, but, you never know. It is GEFD-24042, in case anyone wants to try to order it.

This song could have been recorded by Manilow or Karen Carpenter--if Richard had been adventurous. Eric is an unsung hero of rock ballads... but really, this is borderline pop/Broadway/cabaret -- he's an awesome talent.

My it was akward yet she was still in my heart and now a mum and three boys. She was happy and I learned after all these years. That I had grown up and reminded myself how it didn't hurt when I left to go home. I have never given up on love and now know the door is open to so many possibilities.
