I haven't watch season 7 yet, but I am SO LOOKING forward to this. I think Oliver played this perfectly because, honestly, I don't think Buck had a clue that this is what he wants. As someone who came out in his thirties, it's earth-shifting, it's suddenly feeling the pieces falling into place, it's suddenly feeling RIGHT, mind-blowing, but right.
Finally! They have been hinting Buck was bi/gay since the first season. In my fantasies Eddie will get jealous and realize he's in love with Buck, but that probably won't happen since Ryan Guzman (Eddie) has stated he's not comfortable playing a queer character.
Yeah, it really looks like Buddie isn't happening because an actor (or their management) won't let it happen. It's really too bad. But at least now they're giving Buck something, which is arguably better than nothing. I can only hope they'll turn it into a love triangle leading to Buck and Eddie getting together... but that's looking very unlikely at this point.

I saw the other day an interview with Ryan Guzman where he says rather coy that Buck and Eddie "will be closer than ever this season"... It seems like they are not going to make Buck and Eddie a couple, so they introduced another male character for Buck to potentially have a relationship with. I'm actually okay with this, as I think it will be interesting to see how Eddie reacts to a bisexual Buck and how it changes Buck and Eddie's platonic but loving friendship.
