It is the same as to ask "can human vision impact climate". No, it cannot. It is a wrong question to ask. Moreover - individual variations in sensory perception may create a dichotomy when a distinct smell is perceived in two different ways (someone enjoys certain smells, while others find it repelling). A better, though with obvious flaws, question could be: "Can our nose help indentifying the status of the see?" But then again, I doubt that a reviewer would agree with measurement campaign results, where the main instrument was A NOSE... Sorry.
