I know I'm commenting TWICE today but I just remembered this video and thought I'd break it down a bit. Genius says it's about how religious people use it to criticize everyone around them who aren't if that religion or non religious.
However this is not entirely the case. A song like that is Immaculate Misconception. This song is about how those who are religious, like myself, and celebrities only use "thoughts and prayers" when something ENTIRELY tragic happens that's all over the news to be seen as a "saint" instead of being entirely understood as we're all sinners and giving out love constantly.
I learned that lesson the hard way, and it tore me to pieces. Hatred is an evil thing, yet somehow many people in religion use it against many people who are different from others. I've experienced this. I wear a lot of makeup sometimes in a creative way because I like to, but many people around me, especially my family members, see it as something that is evil and as if I was a horrible monster. I'M FROM HALLOWEEN TOWN WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?!
*just using my own experience as example*
When nothing happens hate and evil gets spread. This song is calling that out. It made it one of my favorites despite it being hard to listen to sometimes. Chris is calling out those who use faith and religion as a crutch to hate others but to spread love to make themselves look better than the other. To me it doesn't matter who you are or what you believe or don't, love should be spread around always. That is what this song is saying
Yeah people take a long time to understand that believing you hold the moral high-ground and trying to impose it on others by any means necessary is not a good thing, but rather an ego-driven thing. And it's not what any religion promotes if you actually know to read the bloody texts. The essence is the same in all. Love everything as one. That's why I love Persefone so much, it's what they spread in their lyrics. /Andrei
@@thewindmillfullovcorpses I was raised around that type of hatred all my life. Took me years to realize it was twisted what people were doing of my faith to others. I mean, the whole thing is shown in the video that I keep mentioning by MIW.
Love should be bleeding from people's hearts and guidance should be given out of hands. Not the burning hate and the scars that are shown. Music really showed me the reality of all that.
"Love will find a way " and what bleeds is true. If no one can understand that it will turn people away
