Wonderful so enjoyable to watch and see London during my mother’s youth in the 1920’s. Liked the soundtrack as well.

Great photos, but simply ghastly and entirely anachronistic music.

4:20 The Tunic of the "Coldstream Guard" is red. Their Greatcoats were grey. They are the oldest continuously serving regular regiment in the British Army founded in 1650 as "Monck's Regiment of Foot" and renamed "The Coldstream Regiment of Foot Guards" (after the location in Scotland where the regiment helped restore the monarchy 1660) in 1670 with Monck's death. In 1855 they were renamed Coldstream Guard till today. Wikipedia

At 1.30 I’m quite sure that is not Fleet street but St James street that leads from Long Acre and Covent Garden Tube station to Covent Garden itself (which you can see in the pic at the end of the road).

True, those people had their own culture, built on hard work but for some reason our politicians saw their culture as worthless and now it's gone forever. At least we have this footage.

These photos give the lie to those who say London has always been a diverse, multicultural place. What is noticeable is the lack of darker complexions, Middle Eastern dress, flowing robes, burkhas, niqabs, turbans etc…

This is Convent Garden not Fleet St. The building crossing the background still exists as the original market, where fruit, vegetables and flowers were sold (now restaurants, shops, tourist tat and craft goods). Other clues include the fruit and banana importer on the left, the costermonger carrying his baskets on his head and general produce on the backs of the lorries and drays.

I very much doubt the picture with the Durham Miners banner was taken in London. It is most likely that senior figures in the miners union taken in or near Durham. Had they been in London it would have been there for a rally or other public event, not the background in the picture.

@charlesjames - it states it's in London when it isn't. It maybe pedantic but, it's an error that's irritating, to me anyway. Happy New Year all. 🍾🎉🎊🎉🍾

Great photos and colorization - but, ummm - the music selection was a bit odd for the subject matter. Not many denizens of early 20th century London were into swinging jazz/blues or 60's cocktail jazz. Also, it's worth noting that 95% of the English population (at that time) lived very hard lives.

Interesting pictures, but trust a Yank to get the music hoplessly wrong. Why not source some music from the era?? I had to stop watching on account of the totally unsuitable guitar rubbish. Why don't you have some Scott Joplin or Jelly Roll Morton? Both American, but at least it would be contemporary with the early 1900s.
