As a Type 1 diabetic there is a exception that is helpful, 3-1-1 Liquids Rule Exemption
TSA allows larger amounts of medically necessary liquids, gels, and aerosols in reasonable quantities for your trip, but you must declare them to TSA officers at the checkpoint for inspection.
Remove them from your carry-on bag to be screened separately from the rest of your belongings. You are not required to place your liquid medication in a plastic zip-top bag. If a liquid, gel, or aerosol declared as medically necessary alarms, then it may require additional screening and may not be allowed. Great video by the way!

Yes, all these people are just doing their job. From TSA agents to CBP personel to pilots, flight attendants and the people manning the gates, even the people that are cleaning the floors. Be appreciative of the efforts they put into getting you to wherever you're going! If you see a baggage handler on the tarmac looking up at you, give them a tumbs up, just to let them know you really do care!

Just wanted to add something with food and drinks your not allowed to bring canned drinks through security as my dad had a canned soda in his luggage and the TSA agent made him either throw it away or move aside and drink it at the spot so my dad had to hurry up and drink before he was allowed through so just be aware of that
Thank you for the clear breakdown of the faq for TSA screening, I am a bit lost on if I have to go through TSA or not, because I will be flying to the US from SG soon, my partner said I shouldn’t have to go through TSA when I land in SF airport for my connecting flight? But I kinda have a hunch I might need to? What would you suggest Ben?
You won't have to go through TSA security when entering the US but you will have to collect your luggage if you checked a bag and then go through Customs and Immigration. You will also need a visa or an ESTA to enter the US as well.

Do you always have to pull out your liquids bag to be checked?
I was in cabo, Mexico, a bunch of folks bought food inside the airport to eat on the flight and security had them trash all of it.

Very nice video. Very clear, concise and to the point. One quick question. I have not been able to get a clear answer regarding laptops. Can they be in checked bags or carry on? I plan to travel internationally with 4, one is personal that I use and 3 are brand new for family members. Can the 3 brand new ones go on checked bag or carry on bag? Laptops can go in either carry-on or checked luggage. Just make sure that if you put them in checked luggage that the laptops are all the way turned off. Safe travels!

I'm flying domestic with cremated human remains. Is there any special procedure I need to be aware of for this?
I would carry the cremated remains with you through security. I wouldn’t pack it in a checked bag as it could get damaged. It will have to be x-rayed but If the X-ray operator cannot clear the remains, TSA may apply other, non-intrusive means of resolving the alarm. If the officer cannot determine that the container does not contain a prohibited item, the remains will not be permitted. I would also bring a copy of the death certificate and copy of the disposition permit.

Here's a question, would stuff like repair kits (metal) and large controllers (Logitech flight stick) be allowed on carry on or are there special rules for large electronic accessories and equipment to maintain or are they relegated to check in only?
All of those things would be allowed as long as it all fits in your carry-on. You will just have to take those items that are electronic out of your carry-on and place them in the security bins when going through security.

Even if you have Pre Check or global entry ... it still does not guarantee you will get pre check 100 % of the time

Hi Sarah! Glad you found the video helpful. I don’t know too much about Copa airlines but they are a partner airline for United airlines so they should be decent. The TSA rules in Curaçao are the same as here in the U.S.

What if you have a tsa clearance are they going to check the bag ? I have carryon and under seat personal bag. I will be putting my meds in personal bag.
Hi Paula, the TSA does conduct random searches even if you have TSA pre-check so yes your carry-on and personal item bag could be checked. When packing meds as well as any liquids and gels be sure to pack them someplace easily accessible just in case the TSA wants a closer look at them. In my experience, the times that the TSA wants to look inside my bag in a pre-check line, it is usually a quick peek and then I am off.
What are the size/quantity restrictions for dry food in checked and carry on bags?
There are no limitations as long as you are not going international.
This may be a stupid question, but can you pack cologne in a checked bag? And can they be multiple? Just wondering because of the liquid/gel rule and how you mentioned they have to be in a ziploc bag
Checked bags are not subject to the liquid and gel rule so you can pack as much cologne as you want. Just make sure you pack them in a way that they won't easily break. Bags get handled fairly roughly.

Hi, my son, who is traveling for the first time and is a very picky eater, wants to take a bunch of snacks in his carry-on luggage. Is it better for security if we pack sealed multipacks of Oreos, Nutrigrain, Cheeze-its, Fig Newtons, and the like, or should we take them out of the packages and put them in gallon bags? or does it not matter? When we made a trial run to BWI, we could not get a clear answer. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Whether the snacks are sealed or not doesn’t matter. As long as all the snacks are solid you are good.

Hi Randi! Yes you can take pen needles on the plane with you as long as they are accompanied by insulin. They can't be carried just by themselves. Have a great first flight!
I purchased sweatpants. So I don't need a belt but i just noticed they do have pocket zippers. Will the metal zippers be an issue?
If the zippers are standard size then you won't have any issues.
Will I need to take out my cell phone charger and ear phones to put in the bin or can I just leave them in my personal item bag?
No need to take out your phone charger or ear phones. Those can stay in your personal item bag. The bag will just need to go through the x-ray scanner.
i also have a question what about savety pins, wire and liquid latex? Iam going for NYCC with some of my Cosplays this year.
Hi Jalen. Safety pins and wire are ok to take on the plane. For liquid latex, as long as it is not flammable you can pack it. If you are going to carry more than 3.4 oz of it you would need to pack it in a checked bag.

Yes, you can place all these things in a checked bag. Just make sure your electronics are all the way powered off before packing them:

You can pack snacks in its original packaging or you are welcome to put them in zip lock bags. Either way works. 👍

It depends on the kind of seeds you are packing. You will have to follow the rules set by the country you are flying into. I know the U.S. has strict restrictions on bringing seeds in from other countries.
Do you place your chargers and portable battery packs along with your electronics during the TSA screening process as well?
All electronics larger than a cell phone will need to be taken out and placed in a bin for screening. For everything else it can stay in your carry-on or personal item bag. Just make sure that portable battery packs stay packed in your carry-on as they are not allowed in a checked bag.

Hey, it's my first time ever flying and booking plane tickets and on this trip I just plan to take a personal item, I was wondering how they check personal items?
A personal item would just go on the belt to be x-rayed. You will still need to take out your bag of liquids and gels if you are carrying any.
And is it oky to bring grinded coffee in my carry on or checked bag
No problem to pack ground coffee in a checked or carry-on bag. Just be sure to have the ground coffee that is easy to get to if you decide to pack it in a carry-on bag. Sometimes the coffee can obstruct the x-ray images and if that happens the TSA may ask you to take it out and place it in its own bin.
Hey is there a limit to how many 3.4 oz liquid items I take or is it only 1 per carry on?
You can take as many that will fit in one clear quart sized bag.
Can I take shavings kit in carry on bag ?
It depends. What is in the shaving kit?
I went through a full body scanner and they did a pat down on me...they have someone else watch also as they do this.
At the Body Scanner there will be one Female and Male TSA at the scanner. For the Pat down process.

Yes you can. As long as the chocolate is not is liquid form you are good.
What if you refuse a patdown if you are uncomfortable with it?
If you refuse a pat down then you will be escorted away from the security area and not be able to board your flight. Pat downs are done by a TSA officer of the same sex as you or you can have it done privately. You can choose someone who is flying with you to go with you to the private screening and 2 TSA officers of the same gender will be present.

Most likely. Just tell the security officers what you have in your leg before you go through the scanner. At most you may get a pat down.

Yes, you can take a hatchet and knife. It just has to be packed in a checked bag.
Do you know if Molain transparent travel pouches from amazon are tsa approved?
If you are looking to put your toiletries in them, I am not sure about that one. The best way to be sure is to ask the TSA directly. If you have Twitter or Facebook messenger you can message them at AskTSA and send them a link to the Amazon travel pouches. They will be able to confirm if they are permitted.
What about sneaking a Disposable under Mexico airports ?
You can pack a disposable vape in a carry-on. You just can't use it. I am not sure about Mexico.
May I ask about Sunscreen I bought the travel size and it fits in my liquid bag just asking never flown before

You can take a ps5 but you will need to take it out and place it in a bin when going through security. You will probably get asked to remove the bubble wrap.
I just bought a small packet of almond butter that I would really love to take. I am not checking my bag, so can I carry on this 1.15 oz packet into the plane?
Yes, you can carry that amount of almond butter on the plane with you.
what about books and medicine like tylenol or advil?? i want to put them in my personal item but i’m not sure if that’s fine. another question, what about airpods and chargers?? will those need to be put in the bins too?
If the Tylenol or Advil is in solid form then you can just leave them in your bag. Airpods, chargers and any electronics smaller than a cell phone can also stay in your bag. Anything larger will need to be taken out and placed in the security bins.

Can i have a Carry on and a backpack?

Yes, you can have a carry-on and a backpack as long as the backpack is small enough to fit under the airplane seat. No problem to call pack a weight scale.
I’ll be traveling for the first time and I have a kind of big septum piercing on my nose and I’m wondering if it will cause any problems?
If your piercing causes one of the machines to alarm then you may be required to get a pat down from a TSA officer of the same sex.

Ok to pack scissors in a checked bag. To be able to pack them in a carry-on bag the scissors must be less than 4 inches from the pivot point.

I always wear my urn necklace and wanted to know if that will cause a problem through security?
It would depend on how big the urn necklace is and how much metallic metal is has in it if any. Most jewelry can be worn going through security without any issues but if the necklace is on the bulkier side then it’s probably best to tuck it away in your personal item bag or carry on until you get through security.
I have a question can you bring herbs like Yarrow that stops bleeding for cuts
As long as they are dried herbs and placed in your carry-on in a resealable bag or container with a secure lid the TSA will let you take it through security.

if i have a laptop inside its case, do i have to take it out of the case or no.
If your laptop just has a basic sleeve on it then you can leave that on it but if its in a laptop bag or something thick then it will need to be removed from the case.
If I have a bag for my meds and a bag for my toiletries, is that allowed in my carry-on?
You can have separate bags for your meds and toiletries. If you have any meds that are liquid then they need to be 3.4oz or less and placed in your quart sized bag of liquids unless your medication is medically necessary then you are allowed to carry more than 3.4oz in reasonable quantities.
Does all jewelry from your carry on need to be placed in a bin ?
If your jewelry is in your carry-on it can stay in the carry-on as it will get scanned. Otherwise, if you are wearing it you will have to either place it in a bin or put it in your carry-on.
@@BenDreamVacations Jewelry really is not that big of an issue if you are wearing small amounts. Just don't wear your jewelry box when you go through the airport. =)
If I put shampoos in my check bag, will they go through my bag? Last time my baggage was opened and the liquid bag was opened, why?
Just putting shampoo in your bag shouldn't trigger any alerts but the TSA does randomly search bags so it's possible that your bag was selected for a manual search. As to why they left your liquid bag opened, I don't have a good answer for you on that one. That's why you should never pack anything in a checked bag that wouldn't want to loose.
i have some piercings that arent fully healed am i allowed to wear clear plastic jewellery?
Plastic jewelry won't cause any issues for you.
for pills such as birth control and headache medicine how do i go about that? put them in the quart sized bag? or can i leave them in my personal bag
Anything in pill form can be left in your personal bag. You won’t need to take it out or put in your bag of liquids.

Hello, do I have to declare money over 10k when flying international? Can I just put it in my carry on?
Yes, you are required to declare any cash you are carrying with you over $10k. You will need to fill out declaration form FinCen 105 and provide the exact money on you. You will probably get asked why you are carrying so much cash so be prepared to answer that question. To answer your other question, yes you can keep the cash in your carry-on.

You can bring urns with human remains in your carry on however, it will need to go through the x-ray machine. If for some reason it triggers an alarm when going through the x-ray machine then the TSA will try alternative measure to clear the urn. If they are unable to do so then it may not be permitted through. You will also need a copy of the death certificate or a disposition permit.
I’m flying to Hawaii and wanted to pack my clothes tight using the vacuum travel bags to save room. Would that be a problem if my checked bag had just my clothes in the vac bags and shoes?
You can use vacuum travel bags in either a checked or carry-on bag but it is not encouraged. If they trigger an alarm the TSA might need to open up the vacuum sealed bags to be able to look inside them which would create a problem trying to fit your clothes back in your bag.

If all you have in your bag is clothes and shoes, I don't see any reason it would trigger any kind of alarm or give any reason the TSA would want to search your bag. I think you should be safe.
Speaking as a Pre-board screener in Canada (pretty much the same rules as in US), as long as there is only clothing/shoes in the vac-bag, there should be no problem. Do not put other things inside. Clothing is easy to see through and identify on x-ray. Some other blob, or bunch of metal could require a closer inspection which may mean opening the vac-bag.
What about lighters and cigarettes and Tylenol are you allowed to fill up a water bottle after security and bring it on the plane?
Disposable and zippo lighters are allowed in carry-on bags only. No problem to carry cigarettes in any bag and yes, you can take an empty water bottle and fill it up once you are through security.
I have 1 oz serum bottles. But they’re glass and I able to take these?
Glass bottles are okay to take 👍
Can I bring a small flat iron in my carryon bag
Yes, you can bring a flat iron in your carry-on bag. If its cordless it will need to have a safety cover over the heating element.
So if i have liquids that are more than 100ml do i put that in my checked luggage or in a quart-size bag then remove it and put in my checked luggage
You can put any liquids over 100ml in your checked bag. No need to put them in a quart-sized bag unless you are going to pack them in a carry-on.

If you are traveling domestically it’s no problem but if you are traveling internationally it will depend on the country you are traveling to. Most countries have strict rules about what food you can bring into their country.

Hi Flores. You can take your own utensils with you on the plane. The wooden knife could be an issue however. The TSA indicates that only plastic or a rounded butter knife is allowed to be brought on the plane. It would be up to the TSA officer to decide if you will be allowed to take it on the plane. The other items you mentioned are all ok.
i just got my belly button pierced and cannot take it out for another few months will i be able to go through the screener? or should i ask for a pat down?
Most piercings are not going to set off any alarms so you should be good. If it does just let the security officers know you have the piercing and they will decide if you will need a pat down or not.
