born in 93 and i must say, the racing game back then was different...so many classics back in the 97-2003 era when i was 5-9 years old at car events with my older cousins...around 04, most classics were replaced with 4 bangers like civics, and eclipses but many of the old heads stuck to the ole v8 trick of trade...now, you will find more modern muscles these days, but the -04-09 era was so out of place for people who ran straight american muscles...
this is hands down one of the best throw back street racing videos on UA-cam that I've seen.. This video reminds me of the racing on Rankin Rd back in the days, Great Job.....
Absolutely! Not a bunch of fools crowding the starting line or running after the cars like a dog out of his fence. No ridiculous shit talking and someone mad because they lost a bet. Just racing for the hell of it.
Awesome throw back video, i remember days just like this is Northern California... Crazy that the Syclone wasn't that old at the time and you can still see the advantages of all wheel drive off the start and the disadvantage of a v6 on the top end. Still my favorite truck of all time
We were racing down there in the 80's. They tried putting in speed bumps but people "I may or may not know" would pour gas on them all week and the semis would beat them down for us. I got me one careless driving ticket down there Damn Kids!!!
I remember a lot of those cars from cruising Porky’s on University in the 90’s and 2000’s. When we went it was usually dark and 10 or 11 at night. Last I checked there were cement barricades alternating down the road.
The Black 67' Chevelle in the beginning was traded for an 87 Grand National to my old roommate. The car is still around, but has been stripped and is in the process of being painted. Hasn't seen the road in 3 years!
My great grandpa has a red ‘67 Chevelle.. 327ci factory 4spd car with 35ish on the dash.. has very nice collection of rides, has the GMC Syclone like was on here & few more!
Hey im 51 years old and been playig with cars all my life down at the recently closed Atco dragway in new jersey.im ready to get it going on round here.where was this video made?
I street raced from the late 80' to mid 90's and there was a huge percentage of Mopar cars racing..By the mid 90's Mopar cars became really valuable and expensive and less guys took them out.. I went out in the early 2000's it was mainly GM and a 15% Ford and few Mopars all because prices went through the roof..Even drag strips here were 50% Mopar until the late 90's early 00's for same reason...Some guys restored their drag cars back to stock and sold them..Now even GM and Ford are 50k to 100k..I guess still better than buying a new truck or suv for 100k I would rather have a 69 Charger R/T 440(I do) or a 72 Chevelle SS 402(I do) feel bad for guys without old iron to run around in...
@@dakotastimeout2827 That… would take some work. I’d have to get both a VCR and a video capture card and set that all up. And who knows, the tape may not be good as the footage was filmed back in ‘93-94.
Anyone mind sharing where this was? I grew up east of Atlanta and we had a road named Moreland Ave that was just like this every Friday and Saturday night till almost daylight.
Please please help me, I used to race a red 77 trans am. I am looking for video feed of any of my racing on red rock road please. You may contact me at on Facebook. Patrick Voss. Please help me
quite a few different groups racing in the area not so much the older guys in classic muscle cars though you don't see that much. Younger kids in turbo import cars make up the majority of street race scene now a days mixed with some modern muscle cars like hellcats, corvettes, coyote mustangs ect.... nothing with a big block or carburetor though those days are long gone.
Anybody have the videos of when the police broke us up at the last race on Red Rock? I saw the news clips around here years ago and can't find them for the life of me..
I tried to get a 96 Impala during that time in 2001, but they told me that my credit wasn't strong enough, and I needed a co-sign, so I ended up getting another car that was on my budget, so back in 2021 a young lady who was drunk drove and hit the rear of my car, and it was totaled so at 41 years old and a strong credit score of 800 I could get my dream car the 96 Impala SS car so basically it took me 20 years to get my 96 Impala it was well worth it 😊👍.
for those of you who may not be in the know. whether you are at the track or on the street. Doing burnouts or "heating up' Street tires is about as useless as the male nipple.. you are wasting everyones time and costing your self money and traction.. A proper burnout is necessary for a Drag radial or drag slick, NOT a street tire it works against you, not for you..
White 67 Chevelle had some sticky tires, and that syclone just hard to beat from the take off man they quick 😎🤘

The Syclone was absolutely tearing it up!
This is one great video. Brings back a lot of memories from my days racing in the 80s here in Oklahoma. Awesome upload

What was it like back then live around the way from Rankin Rd
@@AndersonMotorWorks like season 1 of street outlaws. None of those apartments and stuff were back there. Looked TOTALLY different.
Couldn’t agree more, I’m tired of the ignorant donuts and unnecessary things they do now a days. This right here is golden

Freshly repaved and barriers gone
Light rail was put up and porky joint not there no more
Last of the good ol days
Thanks for sharing I was there that day still have the car.
Finally a classic racing video in my home territory.

I remember the teal mustang, pink chevelle, syclone, turbo Camaro, and the dakota.
Very nice video, Done just the way we like it, all racing! Damn good video!😃😃😃
Great memories. Thanks for the video and keeping it alive
Dude in the Nova has got to kick the ol' lady out, thing would be 160+ pounds lighter without her in it!! ROFL!!
Raced there from early to late 80's. Over 200 cars would show up to race with some being trailered in. Spanked a lot of cars with the old pontiac
You didn't have a black Trans Am did you????
This is awesome.

Pretty sure that was me in the all red GTA.
305 with exhaust and nitrous.
What great memories. I was 19yrs old.
Feel like there would be no doubt if it was you?
I sure would have loved to go to things like this on a back country road or somthing. Everyone saying memories but im saying I wish

El Camino x Teal Foxbody race a good one!
Heh... I've got some street racing on VHS from 1993. I have a WAY faster car now, but I miss those days.
Post it if you can

the police would block the exit and right tix till there books were empty...
Those were the days. Pete with that blue/green Nova should of been alot faster but he had no Tire
Were you in this at beginning / end?
Not me....I never raced during the day, only at night
@@PBuzay1 another reviewer confirmed it was the other Pete with the "Pink" Chevelle. My friend Darren built his 454.
I had a 468 in my chevelle for one week until I sold it to Pat with the red 68 and Yenko stickers.
I'm going to say the mustang stepped it up though
i can smell the oil and gas in the air from here 😍😍😍😍😍
Battle of the 16 second street beasts! 😂
But these were everyday people with their own special builds not some hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of builds.
cant believe this is already like 12 years agoo
20 years ago now 😬
22!
Does this still happen? Im interested.
Not
Yup it was a great spot ... until the cops found out about it and blocked it off . So you couldnt get out if you were down there.
Good times!
