Congrat Old Skool! This is next level for you man and you were already killing it! Would love to see an update video, later on down the road. Happy sorting brother!
@7:46, you might need to tune some of your slots as it looks like it can scrape your cards there, I'm still in the process of ordering mine, have been caught up setting up vending machines and had to delay this order :D great video bud!
I didn’t even realize that you could adjust how big the slots were until after recording this video 🤦♂️ I’ve since made the slots a bit bigger to avoid that scraping.
@@OldSkoolPokemon just received mine, doing a video too, wondering how you managed to make your slots wider? I'm planning to 3d model my own slots to improve the situation and minimise warping of the slots which tends to narrow them
Are you getting one too? You'll absolutely LOVE IT!!! Although, if you're like me, you won't notice any increased productivity for the first few sorts because you'll just be sitting there watching machine do its thing - it's actually a really cool process to watch when it's new! Haha 😂
@@OldSkoolPokemon I sure am! Super excited for it. The idea of hiring employees wasn't appealing to me, so once I found this I was in love. Hadn't seen any reviews on it so just figured I would risk it. I feel you there, I probably won't get anything done because I'll just be watching it haha
Hi there - I would be curious to know your experiences with this machine after owning it a while. Is it worth the hassle? Does it break often? Has it ever damaged cards? Etc
We currently have 4 there great only problem is they need a lot of maintenance and are constantly being repaired we have had our first one for over a year and needs hdmi cable replacing every 2 weeks the other 3 we have had for 2-3 months and are stripped and repaired at least once a week due to switch failures
I wasn't able to find a whole lot of info about the Magic Sorter online; however, that was something I read somewhere - that they do require a lot of maintenance / repair over time... I've had mine for about a month now and have used semi-frequently without issue. Hopefully it'll run for awhile before having any type of issue 🤞🤞🤞
@@OldSkoolPokemon if you can figure out the issues they work wonders and can do so so much more with custom rule files such as making full card sets and so on
Hey @retroble9097 Do you still own all of your Magic Sorters? I am about to purchase one, but i heard you really need to repair alot of stuff. Is that true? What would be the costs / time investment to repair now and then some little things? Thank you :)
You just need to start opening A LOT of Modern Packs! Think about it, it's really a win-win - get to enjoy opening packs AND get a cool, new toy to sort everything for you! Haha 😂
@@OldSkoolPokemon ah interesting, little suction power makes sense - couldn't understand how it was picking those things up! Have you noticed it damaging cards or leaving marks yet?
Moving on up in the world using automation. Given there are only about 30 slots, it seems like if you are sorting completely random bulk you might have to first sort by set and then by another criteria on a second sort?
Exactly. Magic Sorter was a perfect fit for my needs and budget; however, it does have limited capabilities compared to other (much more expensive) card sorting machines. I don't ever really plan to get into buying random Bulk Collections for TCGPlayer Inventory. My main goal with this purchase was to help-out during each new set release where all of the cards are from the same set and I'm just needing cards alphabetized.
I pay someone £12 an hour to sort bulk into sets, considering this goes like 1/10th of the speed that they would, i wonder how long it'd take to break even (i hate doing maths)
It would take a LONG TIME and A LOT of Bulk Cards! Haha 😂 Paying someone to sort through these cards would definitely be cheaper (at-least in the short-term) and much quicker; however, this made more sense for me for two main reasons: 1.) I run my business out of my house and don't have anyone that I'd completely trust with everything that I have. 2.) My main purpose for this purchase was to help me during Release Weeks of the newest Modern Sets. The few days leading-up to the latest release are always really busy and it's imperative that I'm completely ready for Release Date. This machine will literally allow me to work round-the-clock during those few days where it'd be really tough for me to find someone who could drop everything and help me on a specific time-frame.
Right?! It was right around $2,000.00 for Magic Sorter + $500.00 Shipping to USA. I thought that was more than reasonable given how much all of the other card sorting machines that I looked into cost - anywhere from $5,000.00 to $25,000.00 🤯
@@OldSkoolPokemon Yeah I was thinking they were around the 5-25K level. I'd love to see a comparison video of them all someday.. Maybe when you reach a million subs you could reach out to them and figure something out in terms of a sponsorship 😆
@@Alex-zv3uc Yeah Definitely, in 100 Years when I'm at 1 Million Subs 😆 Surprisingly, there's actually very little info out there about these machines! I never even knew they existed until Mason did a video showing-off the one that he has at his shop. If you're interested though, this guy did a good job comparing all the different options available (pricing he gives for each machine is way out-dated; but, info is good): ua-cam.com/video/sy7dtW8CvQ4/v-deo.html
Unfortunately Not; everything needs to be un-sleeved for the vacuum that picks-up cards to work properly. Plus, there's not a whole lot of wiggle-room in each slot; so, I don't even think sleeved cards would properly fit into each slot.
I’ve found that sorting by individual set like I showed in this video is very accurate. I’ve never run into a case where QTY machine gave me wasn’t spot-on with the actual QTY. However, that’s not the case when you’re trying to sort a random batch of cards by set. In those cases, machine will sometimes mix-up set symbols 😢 But, that’s still definitely the vast minority of cards vs. majority - just means you have to be more careful when exporting CSV File.
I've probably only run 10,000ish Cards through the Magic Sorter thus far; haven't noticed it damaging any cards though. Personally, I wouldn't want to use this for sorting high-end cards that are really condition sensitive; however, for Bulk Cards, it's GREAT!
There is something wrong with your microphone. The audio comes out static/breaking very often. So much so that i tend to turn my volume almost all the way down and cant bear to watch the videos some times.
Doubt it bro, when u have thousands of cards from different sets mixed u would never finish sorting manually yourself fast, I have 15 master set binders & over 20k pokemon cards, sorting is not easy nor fast, this is one reason people want these machines, yes the machines can take a bit but it's way longer doing it yourself
@@RealLostGlitches I disagree. At the current state/speed of work these machines do, you can sort quicker with a human team. Maybe later iterations would make the juice worth the squeeze. This is coming from someone who worked at a card shop for 6 years and runs a Level 4 Tcgplayer business that opened in 2015.
Realistically, I think that it would have probably taken me about 30-40 Min to sort through all of those cards and then another 20-30 Min actually counting / listing onto TCGPlayer - that's where I got the 1 Hr.
