You need to stretch that felt when you cover the rails and bed.. Otherwise the felt will move around when you place your bridge hand down on the bed, and the rails won’t play properly.. Also, you need at least one shim on each pocket facing to keep the rubber from expanding over time from moisture.. That makes the pockets play phony..

yeah well..you can't..it's impossible..even tables made by engineers in factory can only have % surface flatness to level at best..talking about albastar or whatever slates chiseled by computer driven machines to be as flat as possible..how flat can the surface be in ones made at home up of bendy wood boards :/..you can't DIY a billiard table..
