What is the screen GUI made of? Glass or plastic? Does it really need a screen protector? I've recently bought a Model Y in the UK.

My favorite option is the electric frunk by EVOffer. It makes opening and closing the frunk as easy as the trunk. Why Tesla does not offer that as standard equipment on a $70K+ car is beyond me.
A must have for me was a swivel/tilt mount for the screen. There are several different ones to choose from and I imagine they’re all pretty much the same. Made a world of difference for my model 3. I also got the home link module to control my garage door opener.

Easy to install yes, but not sure it's worth it because the price includes that plastic alignment tool that just gets thrown away. Spigen should have made it recyclable or made out of something other than plastic like cardboard.
This is the one I've earmarked for our ordered TMY. Agree the waste is significant.

Nice. I learned few tips from your vid. Tux mat for floor mats. Expensive, but well-suited for places or people that plan to not alwayhave a showroom clean car: snow, mid, kids, dogs, etcetera. The steering wheel tray is a good idea, but it's so small. Hardly fit more than a water bottle on it. Neat that it stores neatly in the car, but seems too small. I am sure there are bigger ones out there. Maybe the maker of the steering wheel tray could create one that is larger and folds in half for easy storage.

Reg. screen protector, did it reduce the brightness or crispness of words/ camera? I have the matt one ordered and in hand, but having two minds if I should get the clear one, recommendation please?
For the back doors there is a quick release in the door pocket area. Remove the plastic cover and remove the plastic cover to find the pull release to open the back doors manually from the inside. Great video. My favorite accessory for my Model Y is "Watch for Tesla". It is primarily for an Apple Watch, but it also has apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac. I use it regularly to turn on Climate, activate Homelink when I don't want to carry my phone, and open the frunk. It also has a neat feature to allow you to easily create Siri Shortcuts. The author updates it regularly at no extra charge.

This comment is off the subject of accessories but does anyone knows a way to keep the interior cooler, I live in Florida and use a considerable amount of my battery to keep the car interior cool using the internal cabinet protection feature, I'm trying to vent the windows to see if this is a better solution but if it rains and I forget to roll windows up, "not good," tesla should have a feature on a future software update to synchronize the same sensor that detects rain on the front windshield to close windows if the car is parked, I will appreciate, maybe this is already implemented I don't know how to use it, maybe Andy or someone else can get a hold of Elon and suggest this idea, thanks in advance for your help.

Also, I’m nearing the end of my cross country trip in my 2021 Model 3 SR+, from Sacramento CA to Louisville KY. I’m in Tulsa OK now (had to go to the amazing Bob Dylan Center which opened in May). Memphis tomorrow, then Louisville.
The trip has been awesome. Despite conventional wisdom re: gotta have max range wussy anxiety, I’ve found the car to be a completely viable road warrior.

I've had my Model Y for 17 months; what I'd really like is an electric frunk. It seems a shame they didn't include that as standard.
I installed the hansshaw auto frunk and it is the 2nd best after market item on the car that I purchased. The first best is the total tilt/swivel monitor (Left-Right and up and down). I have a 2022 Model Y LR. I also installed the kick trunk activator. 3rd favorite. BEST accessory I purchased was the IceCo in this video. I use it whenever I go camping and I keep it in the car for when I go food shopping. I never realized how much rushing I did doing errands because I had groceries I was worried about. This this IceCo, I don’t bat an eye. I put delicate items inn the cooler until I get home. LOVE it. I did get the mattress he mentions and sleep incredibly well when I camp. The foam alone is enough and the valves let me get it compressed and rolled back up and out of the way.

That’s great! I took it to the DMV to get the title and the sheriff did the inspection but since it was a brand new vehicle he didn’t even really look at it.
Thanks for the info! When I took delivery there were several scratches on the front bumper. Tesla is repainting it now. Sounds like I’ll have to wait to get the car back before I head out to the DMV.

I think IceCo sells and extended long cord so it will reach the front plug, while it is in the trunk. However, if running and driving, you have to find a way to keep the trunk heavily ventilated, because the fan runs warm if it is blocked.

I use a front license plate accessory from Abstract Ocean which I can remove easily. My state requires a front license plate and this is nice as I don't have to adhere the plate to the car.

It doesn't need to be sharp it only need to be much harder than glass. Example spark plug porcelain will break glass with ease.

There are several options for roof glass shades on Amazon. Don’t get the Tesla branded shades, way overpriced.
I don’t think the camping mattress can be very practical. I couldn’t think of a place huge enough to store two people’s luggage while the mattress is in use.

I own a Tesla Model Y Long Range, but I'm not rich. I used Tesla financing and my interest rate is 2%. With the minimal maintenance, and inexpensive electricity (I charge at night), it's very doable.
Same here. Not rich, bought a used 2020 Model Y with a trade in. Less maintenance and less energy costs (my previous car was using $60-100 a month in gas alone) should actually tick over in about 4 years of ownership. The key is long-term ownership, really that goes for anything. If you don't have to replace something, then you're saving on that item. When you need to buy anything, find the item with the highest quality you can afford. That'll last the longest. In the case of a Tesla, as long as you don't end up in an accident and you take care of it, the long term means you'll save money.

Speedometer is on the main screen. You can buy gauges if you want, but it's not necessary.
It has a speedometer on the tablet screen in the upper left hand corner. If you've ever looked inside a Prius or Mini Cooper, they don't have a gauge pod in front of the driver either, it's centrally mounted. This saved on manufacturing cars that have to switch from left-hand to right-hand drivers without re-engineering the car for the market. General maintenance on electric car is really just tires, suspension, and paint and body, and that's about it unless there's a recall. There's no fluid to change, and because there's no explosions happening per crank revolution, there's less parts to fail as well (think valves, valve springs, rockers, cams, belts, mass airflow meters, coil packs, spark plugs, O2 sensors, catalytic converters, etc). Electric motors have been around for A LONG time and many, many warehouses have been using electric forklifts for decades before Tesla came along. Tesla is just the first to mass produce a well built, long range, fun, and intriguing product to the automotive market. They're still in their infancy in compare to Ford, Chevy, Toyota, VW, etc, but as they improve their manufacturing processes and continue to listen to their customers, their quality will improve further. You should really go have a test drive, regardless of if you plan to buy one, and just experience it. It's worth the time!
