£299 for an automatic washing machine in 1984.
You can buy a decent brand for £189 in 2019. That's a serious drop in price, especially when you take inflation into account.

Ah the classic Birds Eye Steakhouse ad!
Love the Warninks ad - so typically 80s.
LOL at the Su Pollard Typhoo one.

great to see that beast of a Fidelity home entertainment centre in the Rumbelows ad. we had one of those and it was huge. Beat thing was it could record audio onto tape direct from the TV, so no more putting a tape deck up against the TV!

"If you ever wondered how you get triangles from a cow you need..." - the Dairylea advert which inspired the opening line of Half Man Half Biscuit's '99% of Gargoyles (Look Like Bob Todd)'.

11:58... not sure what I’m supposed to be looking at, but 36 years later looks like a bewildering choice of tablets!

Thanks again Neil for uploading all these great videos and feeding my curiosity of what life was like when I was only 0-7 months of age. :D

He was also the "straight man" in the exam sketch in the very first Mr Bean episode as well. Bean tried to cheat by looking at what he had written.

You are correct. He appeared in numerous adverts including Toffee Crisp and for the holiday company Thomson. When I think of the Webster's advert, (a brand of lager made in the same area that created the world famous John Smith's) I remember the talking horses of the late 1980s/early 90s. An early indication of the slogan 'A thoroughbred amongst banks' prior to that theme tune with the Leo Mckern series of adverts. Jan Francis appeared in many of them, Nigel Havers in one of them of the early 1990s.
