im a teacher assistant at my university. it would be insane to ask of the professors to keep up to date with the amount of new technologies that appear on the market. Thats why they rely on us to help their students make heads and tails of technologies they need to use. thankfully we can rely on you to make such awesome videos.

Flutter is a nice UI devkit, but it's made by Google and I'm very skeptical it'll live for long as Google likes killing their own products whenever they feel like it
Thanks! That's a fair point, but I'm pretty confident Google will keep Flutter around. Too much external community support to kill it off.
@@Fireship they invented flutter to create a dev community for their next Operating system and Flutter can make apps for it, so that can be a reason why they won't kill it... But they can again kill the OS itself if they don't like it, so we're unsure of it...

I've tried both react native and flutter. Flutter provides the most simple and best development experience so far and so much fun
Flutter also has friendlier documentation.
I'm much more convinced by Flutter than RN.
RN certainly appeals to front-end devs who are already familiar with React, JavaScript etc., but it's not an advantage from the perspective of other devs aiming at crossplattform mobile programming

Nice explanation, as always, Sir. Just curious, how can you learn new things so fast? Do you just focus on something that you learn ? Or do you have experience on something that is related to the new thing you learn? How long actually for you to understand a certain new programming languange? Because sometimes I feel that I am very slow to learn new things just because I dont wanna lose the things that I have learnt very hard (e.g Javascript). Therefore, I keep remembering the thing that I have learnt while learning new things. Haha.
It's likely that he just learns enough to make a video. Probably follows some tutorials on the internet. I doubt he'd know how to pick up a language two weeks later the fact (I'm not saying this as in "Fireship's dumb" just as "Fireship's a human being")

Most important point is it's from Google, so it will be abandonware when something twinkly catches their eye next.
And that's when being open source can save everything. If Google decides to abandon it, someone (or a whole team, etc) could just continue it
I think the best example of that is Skript in Minecraft (in my experience at least). It was discontinued in early versions of Minecraft and it's still around today, somehow, and it still works.

Hi I recently got ur page and now a big fan of 100 sec videos ❤. Im currently learning html and css( kind of mastering ) and have a basic level knowledge of python and js. Can I start learning flutter now itself or do I need to learn something else before using flutter? 👀
Maybe this reply is a bit late, but I don't think you need much experience in a specific language. After all we start from scratch, but since flutter is based of the language Dart, you could try to learn a bit more of that!
Some of the brains behind the Skia graphics engine originally worked for Apple, where they created the QuickDraw GX graphics engine in the early 1990s. Back then, it would have been a major advance on the old QuickDraw, with integer-only coordinates, that the Macintosh was using for its interactive graphics, and I was a big fan.
Unfortunately, it died.
I've played with Flutter a little bit in the past. It's quite a nice way to build apps! My only fear is that Google will discontinue it sooner than later. Flutter isn't too popular, either, and Google discontinues products a bit too often...
They have built a Dev team around it. And I wouldn’t say that it isn’t popular. But at the end it is Google, so you're right when expecting a whole sudden shutdown haha

As a React developer is React Native better or Flutter? I'm asking because I know Flutter is inspired by React.
To make things short: You're not doing anything wrong when picking one over the other.
Both have their individual ad- and disadvantages. There are tons of videos and articles who compare them. Flutter is not inspired by React tho. I'd recommend taking a look into it. Dart is a really nice language and easy to learn and to understand, especially when you're coming from JS. Nevertheless I'm not a huge fan of the extreme amount of nested elements while creating the UI.
Whatever you read or choose. You can do nearly everything with both. At the end it's either your or your company’s taste which decided what to pick.

The colors don't show for me in VS code. Did anyone else have that problem? Was this feature removed?
I can't tell from experience, but I don't think it has been removed. There are 2 things I assume:
1. It has to be enabled in your vscode settings (though I don't think this is likely to be necessary)
2. Check your extensions. Regarding on your programming language, you might need a special highlighting extension for your language + flutter

It's gonna depend on your app and your experience tho.
In my experience, if you don't plan out your app first, Flutter code will get _very_ messy and hard to manage.

How can I add a Normal Homepage Widget to a flutter project? Its easy when using Java, but can add 1 in a flutter project, even if I have to write it in Java or Swift?
Just like with every other framework. You can create a seperate widget especially for your Home Screen and link it with the root app inside the main widget. If that’s what you mean.

Flutter is a great idea - but getting Dart is a whole other story. Plus, it's all another Google project so I wonder why they didn't go for using Go instead? Hm... oh well. Dart is a neat language, I just wish it wasn't so barren (compiling from source needs a good third of the Chromium source tree - eep...)
