That was my service weapon in Soviet Army. If you pull and push back it shoots auto, just pull and leave back is a single shot. Thats what you got in the beginning. Bipod can be turned 180 degrees and moved back then you can use it as a handle.
@@diesel4ever273 It isn't Call of Duty levels of laser beam but it is quite controllable, even while standing. You definitely need to have a proper stance and a tight grip on the weapon, but it is quite nice.
@@saunamajuri So wouldn't it be better for soldiers to carry something like this instead of the standard AR? These seem to be a lot more powerful, atleast in videogames I rarely ever use ARs, it's either an SMG or LMG, but again, most gamer don't really reflect reality
@@diesel4ever273 Not really, the main reason being it weighs almost 3x as much. It is a long, heavy weapon and has a very, very clunky belt box, and if you want to use an exposed belt, the rounds get snagged on literally everything they can. And it cannot shoot in single shots.
I really like that you showed yourself figuring it out on the fly! Way too many guys are afraid to show themselves making mistakes. As a prior military guy I can promise you that even the people who shoot these things for a living screw stuff up, and that’s ok because that’s how you learn! I really enjoy your content, please keep it up 😊
One explanation I find reasonably well about why you need to shoulder fire a machine gun is close combat. I also heard an USMC vet talks about while he doesn't need to shoulder fire his M240 all the time, he still has to sometime

I have only ever fired the version without the flutes. Still very fun to burn through some x54r. Trying to score a pecheneg atm which is not actually happening it seems 😂😂
Interesting, perhaps it is related to the difference in stock shape between the PK and PKM, where the latter has an extra "bump" in the back, perhaps raising the cheekweld too high, unless you are able to put your cheek in front of the bump. The PK stock geometry feels easy for me to get the sight picture, however keeping it while cycling is a different story 😂
@@FirepowerUnited its a subtle change but maybe it could make the difference in sight picture acquisition, not even sure why they changed the stock in the first place.
I understand Russian, I listened to Ukrainian soldiers, they complain about the M 240: low reliability, frequent overheating, low mobility. The Ukrainians said that this weapon is not for war in the field and in the city. they said the PK machine gun is the most reliable. There are also problems with the M2, these are design problems.

What group was u in
Love the PK
I hate you
PK family is definitely the best Machine Gun I’ve ever shot.
Awesome video and plus 10 points for the ERDL shirt!
Thanks a lot! Love the PK fam, probably my fave as well!
How bad is the recoil compared to what videogames show?

This machine gun Round, the Mosin-Nagant 7.62Rx54, was first deployed at the Russia Army in 1891.
I think you meant 1981 XD i don't think there were LMGs 150 years ago

PKM and PK are both awesome, PKM is noticibly lighter which is cool. PKP would be wild!
Rock!
Congratulations!
You should move the reloading handle back to forward position.
Idk what it is but I always have trouble getting a sight picture while prone on the PK series

@@helveticarms ah, I didn’t realize the PK had a different stock than the PKM. It’s the PKMs that gave me trouble. Never handled or shot a PK before.

Beautiful review❤
@@grenadeonceadaykeepstheene7053 thank you!
PK is the best machine gun even due to its low weight. Ukrainians are unhappy with the M240 because it weighs twice as much
How does it feel to be living my dream
Paying CHF 100.- to the goverment only to shoot full auto sucks big time…
Agreed, its an unreasonable cost. But still better than most other countries arms laws.

The pk looks nicer than pkm in my opinion and is better in my opinion
I like that you tried to look cool shooting the weapon, unfortunately it seemed very virgin
@@hugodscm It is virgin! it's my first time shooting this weapon. Says it in the title 😉. Thank you for watching and tips for improvement 🙏🤗

Always one of my favourite MG platforms. Perhaps the best all round GPMG, arguably. 🤔
Also. Foggles. I hate that.
Probably my favorite all things considered, however foggles are not my favorite lol
