Hands on manual labor, hard work.
I buy these all the time from my local grocery store....now I know why it cost nearly $4 a piece. I hope the people doing the hardest work get their fair share.
THEY MUST BE GETTING 4$ FOR AN ENTIRE DAY'S WORK!! Sadly this is how they are exploited!!

4$ for farmer, 1st transport , factory, worker, 2nd transporter, export company, .... and the final local grocery. Normally the final one gets the highest share.

Some might think machines automation would do much faster and efficient.
This factory keeps Thailand people employed so they would spend money back to the economy.
I like human run factories with minimal machinery equipment for heavy loads, as long as the workers are treated well with dignity.
$4-10 a day.
And, after all this hard labor, we watch TV, sit relaxed on a couch, and drink canned coconut water!

They are working hard in hot humid conditions.
Those so called waste is a precious resource. I think they could be used in building. Maybe mixed with cement instead of sand to make light weight concrete.
