I'm still convinced that If Raxxla is a physical object, it's small, like palm of the hand small. Pure speculation of course. You speak of Thargoids lookin for it, I've thought the same thing about Polaris, like maybe they're trying to get it back into their control. Good stuff dude. Keep em comin. o7
Yeah the mars artefact is no doubt of some significance. I personally think that it was some device pertaining to the talmor lense. The inclusion of the winter D object at sigma 69 and Thetis is also a pointewr that Holdstocks material may of been included. Thanks for the watch Guru. I guess us lot will find this one day. o7
trying to remember here, raxxla , it's a door , also a key, just wondering, what about the crystal that was undetectable while being scanned to see what cargo you had, but with correct manipulation it opened a " gate" . Was it not a guy from Lave who stole one of those crystals to create a gateway??

MATTIUS I guess it could mean anything we all do in elite. I keep pondering over that statement.
The thargoid storyline has always been thought by some to have been guided by the actions of the community. That the thargoids may have been neutral when first placed into the game and the overall reactions of the community against them determined there future actions. This is rumour though.
What if Raxxla is the AI from the Guardians? Maybe it formed itself into a large megastructure that moves through the Galaxy/witch space. And this is why they could find it in the early days of space travel but we can’t find it close to sol today.
I’m just really hoping if raxxla is ever found, it’s found through gameplay and not someone using a database of elite systems or something to just do a bunch of automated math on orbits or something like that.
100% support this. It's rather annoying when data miners find something and then pretend they discovered it in game. Would be nice for at least one thing to be truly originally stumbled upon by accident or found in game using only in game mechanics.
Payperheirplain considering you can’t even efficiently do basic things like trading or selling a load of mined material without out of game tools I wouldn’t hold my breath.
I'm in two minds about Raxxla. On one hand there's a little voice in the back of my head that says "Raxxla isn't a place, more a reason for being. The search for Raxxla is like the search for purpose."
A bit wishy washy but my second thought is that Raxxla will be used by FDev when or if they decide to add a second galaxy to the game. Raxxla would be the gateway for players to go between the milky way and this second theoretical galaxy.
I've often wondered why we would ever need a second galaxy. Even on the low end of estimating we have around 100 billion stars to explore we're still sub 1% after 6 years. Seems like anything they wanted to add to the game could be added into the Milky Way in one of the many, oh so many, permit lock zones. There are permit locks out in the middle of literally nowhere 50-60,000LY away from Sol as well as all the well known ones that people often wonder about in and near the bubble. Seems like it would be a huge waste of resources to create a second galaxy.
On the other hand the second galaxy theory makes a lot of sense given a lot of the tin foil that goes around explains that Raxxla may be a gateway. I'm of the mind that it isn't a planet or a station. I think it's some sort of object that is used to control the expansion of mankind and is currently in the possession of "The Club". I have no proof of anything though because everything comes from second hand sources and reports from out of game references and such.
Honestly, I want it to be the first thing you mentioned. I don't want to find Raxxla. The hunt is the fun part.

Maybe not only to another galaxy, but also to other areas of the Milky Way! My theory is also definitely a gateway/wormhole of some sort.
@@MinistryOfMagic_DoM Agreed. 400 billion stars. And it's not as if we have millions of people playing, even then we'd still have no need for another galaxy, we'd just get to see another player from time to time. I would find another galaxy unnecessarily spreading out the player base.
I really enjoyed this video I find the hidden lore of this game really interesting and I think you sum it up perfectly.

I always assumed the rumblings during sc is the hull of the ship vibrating from the engines
the noises that you hear is your ship changes in gravity on nearby planets in the system.
Say the game was a clock in such a way , that It would be on a 12 hour cycle , but in zodiac terms their would be 13 zodiacs , small window to pass through the door.

Something interesting that you left out which is why my pet theory for Raxxla has always been a rogue planet, is that rogue planets were initially planned to be in the game and were on the list of “star types” in the code that was publicly shown early on but were later cut. Could it have been exclusively for Raxxla or just something that was too complicated to implement?
I’d love to link to a source where I first found this but it’s been years and I’ve moved between computers multiple times since then and no longer have it. But anyone interested can do some googling and I’m sure they’ll find it as it wasn’t a secret. Just something people have forgotten about or never looked into in the first place.
Another good one! Let me share my hair brained Raxxla location. Over by Barnard's loop there is a pair of stars: Horsehead Dark Region IR-V C2-4 and Horsehead Dark Region IR-V C2-5. I 'found' these systems when I was looking for a good nebula to take a screenshot of and thought "well, best nebula has to be Horsehead nebula right?" These 2 stars are as close as you can get to the horsey part of the Horsehead nebula and I figured they are at the right angle to get a good view of the horse. You can even sort of see the horse bit on the lower resolution galaxy map and the view of the horse should be spectacular from there. Then I noticed that they were permit locked and actually most of the region is. (this was before I was up on thargoids and the permit locked systems) I was a little bummed at the time, but I found another nebula to go look at and didn't think too much about it. However, I did book mark it and when I started to get interested in Raxxla, I though that if I was a game dev. I would put my most important location in the place where it would have the most spectacular view to add to the drama. The horsehead nebula is probably the most recognizable stellar phenomena outside the solar system. Even people who have no interest in astronomy have probably at least seen a picture of it.
A giant dark horse head dominating the horizon, casting it gaze across the surface of a barren world, littered with ruins. Looks pretty good in my head.
Interestingly, this system was not always permit locked and I did manage to find some screenshots taken by someone who was passing through. Unfortunately, they are just of the wider nebula group and not the horse itself. Too bad.
Also, I remember reading somewhere that someone from frontier said that at least one person had already been in the system where Raxxla is, though i think may that's anecdotal since I can't seem to find anything official.

Yeah the horsehead nebula is locked off. As is Barnard's loop and the cone nebula. to be honest most of the nebulas round there are spectacular like the rosette and seagull. No doubt were it is they will have to turn the beauty dial up to 11. Thanks for the watch Michael

Thamks for the watch. I'm in the mindset that at least the ending to the raxxla mystery wont be solved without spacelegs and tbh I'm kind of happy with that. Exploring a ancient alien ruins or station is right up my street.
Audio is an interesting search method as although I never notice it, a lot of people say there’s various things where when you’re getting near them, sound effects or music changes, like I think the barnacles work like that.
All of the biological life are fascinating to me at the very least. If you get a good combination of light, turn the SRV lights off and use the camera suite you can have some pretty far out experiences.

It’s just one more reason they should add an external “holo-pilot” system or something so you can fully pilot your ship from the outside. You can already control just about everything you just can’t see what you’re doing or do menu stuff.
We’re already holograms to begin with AND have an external camera system that’s part of the canon and not just a mechanic. It wouldn’t break the lore to be able to pilot that way and would incentivize more cosmetic purchases.
FSD's work by targetting the mass, rather than targetting visually right? So a dyson sphere would still be targetable but you wouldn't be able to see where it was.
Noone knows fully how they work but they are thought to target the gravity of a star rather than the light of it. In game mechanics terms we need to be able to see the star on the galaxy map in order to attempt lock on, but again this is controlled by permit locks.

CaptonStabben here, I do believe Its possible I have cracked the code of a star map leading to the location of Raxxla. I will keep you posted on any findings.

Living on a rogue planet would be quite difficult, seeing as everything here is basically solar powered. You like to breathe oxygen? Plants don't do that without sunlight.

My theory on Raxxla….. The search has been far and wide over years however the problem is we are frozen in time and or some sort of time loop. When did this happen ? I do not know but the process which it was done the galaxy as a whole was unaware of any changes. Raxxla finished their construction of mirrors and variety of equipment to control time first thing was to prevent any unwanted attention so bending time not only for themselves to benefit but placing those in a timeline outside their own no longer being able to access them was priority one.
Sirius has been developing or trying to develop FSD’s that are far beyond what we have now. This could be either for the good of all as they know what is going on or for their own benefit. Potentially with these powerful drives accessing different dimensions and or timelines would finally give access to Raxxla.
A supporting factor is where is the millions of equipment raxxla built or was attempting to build ? we would of found at least a few by now you would imagine… Being tied to a alternate timeline of where they were originally built prevents access.

Yeah the time manipulation stuff on Raxxla is one of my favourite theories. It could be that the Oisir Raxxla are maniplating the flow of time. Could be the reason we have had to wait so many years for space legs :D. Thanks for the watch Austin.
CONFIRMEd I KNEW IT!!! All other theories are now wrong XD..Kidding. but serious there was some weird theories about zeta reticuli pre Ed release regarding a megastructure. Also if you sit above a guardian site you will hear weird chatter.

Well david braben did make a point of pointing there unusual personality out. Another weird thing you may notice aswell is out in the black in certain places on stations noone really uses, there are npc station crew who almost always have scars or strange markings on there heads.

@@MATTIUS Thanks Mattius! I love listening to your theories on Raxxla while working! I have an idea about Raxxla that's providing a massive gameplay loop for me in Elite! I do think it's in the game, but it's in an unobtainable permit locked system. I'm currently trying to become allied with all factions in all the permit locked systems that are obtained by gaining rank in the Imperial and Federation rank system. I'm hoping that this will unlock either a quest or another perviously unobtainable permit lock. It's taken a few days just to do Beta Hydri so far. I think this is going to take me a while to do!
I'm not sure if anyone playing has managed to do this so far. I would love to hear if someone has tried this. Whether this works or not, I'm definitely having fun trying :)

Great vid! I like your opens. I agree, an open mind a respect of other’s ideas are need for this work. We won’t find it without this kind of freethinking and open mindedness. It’s been a while since I gave it a listen but I believe the in game lore entry discusses a pilot who found a treasure map to a pirate’s stash, not Raxxla. Her significant other thinks they may as well be looking for Raxxla. As you mention, this is the earliest reference to Raxxla known. Keep the vids coming. I enjoy them. They give us things to think about.
