You said to do the off side the same. That's fine, but here you are instructing people to have the roller end of the cinch coming up on the nearside. Most cinches only have a roller buckle on one end, because people use an off billet on the offside which doesn't need a roller. But here you're using a latigo on both sides, so unless you can find a cinch with a roller buckle on both ends (which I've never seen), then one side is going to have a non-roller buckle. That works ok, but it could be why people are confused about how to rig the other side.
What about going through the back ring?
