I was walking through the streets of my neighborhood while listening to this 2 years ago crying because my family often kicked me out of the house. I don't know much English but I understand that it says that "you have to close your eyes and imagine a better life." Today I live alone paying the rent for my own apartment and every day is what I imagined those days. I am happy. Thank you, Grace, you helped me a lot when I was about to fall.
She wrote this song for her brother who was having drug addiction issues until he got help. She writes about real issues and not just superficial stuff. She will and has impacted many lives. Her future is bright and our lives will be better for it. Much love young Jedi master.

She noticed her brother's manic state when she was 13. Knew he shouldn't be that happy for that reason. She noted it and then wrote about it, in the most beautiful way imaginable. No blame or condemnation, just love and wanting to comfort her brother through his hard time.

It's not just you. Grace has made me cry many times. She also has given me peace that, whether she says it or not that all will work out right. Not many people can say that to me or it doesn't work for me. When it comes from Grace, it makes my life just a little easier and I love her for that.

It takes you in a busy street during festivities, full of shops with illuminated showcases, filled with people and voices, slow moving vehicles in the colorful bokeh background and even a bit of snow in the air so warm it is ... with puffing vapour clouds ... nice the hawaiian vibes ... the ukulele plays so wonderwell along grace's so mature like or lived singing as it is a joyful instrument, sparkling with genuine curiosity for life but also with a nostalgic reverb ... better than a classic guitar or piano as more moderated and self-controlled instruments that need to be grabbed with the hands by the player and brought here or there

Her voice is so mesmerizing. Her music is so addictive! Why does she blows my mind. I just can't understand this child prodigy and how she is so naturally talented. And to only be playing music and writing for a 2-3 years and then to be only 13! No one has ever done what she has accomplished at this age. She has written about 20 songs, all phenomenal songs. Who even comes close to this accomplishment. Anyone?
I've heard comparisons to Michael Jackson (R.I.P.), but I was never interested in his music until he was quite a bit older than Grace is now, so I can't really give much of an opinion here. : )
Carole King, there was no AGT in her time, no one would sign her as a singer so she sold her songs to make a living. Aretha Franklin, Donny Osmond, James Taylor all had a big hit because of her. The Beatles did one of her songs. For us older people the Monkees with Pleasant Valley Sunday, this would be too long if I wrote them all. Look up Caroles hits, you'd be amazed, since Grace's start I have been thinking about the parallels between the two

I think that when Grace gets judged on the substance of her songs, this song will go down as one of her greatest achievements. She writes and composes her songs seemingly so easily that we it take her for granted. That coupled with her beautiful voice makes this iconic. It takes many people a whole lifetime of study, practice, meditation, and the support of a Buddhist community to attain a degree of enlightenment. Grace has it already. She was born with it, and her path is music, especially in this song. The parallels in these lyrics to Buddhist philosophy are remarkable.
None of this has to be defined as religious in any way. She's singing about the temporariness of things, and how you can change you own life for yourself. Sounds pretty basic, but look at the comments... how strong an effect this has song has for them... people who are suffering find (at least) a momentary feeling of peace. My opinion is that almost all of Grace's music has a focus on empathy and compassion, especially for the pain other people might be experiencing.
I suspect Grace wouldn't use the metaphors and terminology that I'm trying to use. She probably doesn't reflect on her own music in this way at all. She just sings and writes music and changes peoples' lives forever... like she has changed mine.
Grace needs to "study" nothing. She's already there. Her music and her message will continue to grow, and we will continue to enjoy it, to feel peace from it, and to "have a better life" because of it.
She has a way of tapping into what we all really know deep inside but are too afraid or too broken to express ourselves. She does this naturally I believe its because she never learned not to. What an amazing, beautiful treasure this honest soul is. I hope she always is on a path that brings her joy and that she has some small idea of the immeasurable impact she has in peoples lives. Her songs are gardens to walk in, playgrounds to play in, dreams to escape to and hugs to hold you close. No artist has ever touched my soul as this incredible human has.

She's always changing things up. I used to hate when people did that but somehow never mind when Grace does. I even enjoy the variations more often than not.

I’ve followed this girl since the beginning and I’m still dumbfounded by her writing. Doesn’t it seem impossible for a 13 year old little kid to write a song like this? And she has so many more equally as wonderful. Rarely is someone SUCH a natural.
I think I finally figured out why this song struck me so significantly when I first heard it. The other more popular songs from the album.. City Song, Moonlight, etc, are really good and have great production value.. but they are collaborations. And while they are fantastic collaborations, for sure, you can still feel the influence of someone else in them... while this one... this one is pure Grace on tap.
Grace, if you ever read this... wherever you took yourself mentally when you wrote this... that is a good place, please trust it. That place is full of warmth and love, and you are the perfect instrument to help share the music you can find there with the world.
